Osama's New Video *UPDATED* *AGAIN*
Posted by Frank J. at 03:31 PM | View blog reactions | Comments (23)

Since Bush is pretty much a lame duck (just not lamer than the Democratic Congress), why doesn't he respond to Osama's taped threats by going into the White House basement and taping threats of his own saying he will destroy all those who insult America? It would make him relevant again, because, hey, he just might do it (I hear he has nukes).

BTW, apparently Osama, with his newly dyed beard, is joining the nutroots in criticizing the Democrats for not ending the Iraq War. Those guys should really pool their resources.

UPDATE:

In the video, apparently Osama chastises the Democrats for not ending the war -- the thing they were elected to do, rants against "neoconservatives," praises Noam Chomsky, and talks about global warming and the Kyoto treaty.

Kos has to get this guy as a diarist before HuffPo does.

UPDATE 2:

Full transcript is here. Still reading it, but Osama really doesn't like Rumsfeld and seems to agree with the left that he should be tried for war crimes.

UPDATE 3:

Read it all. Osama basically says those who claim this is "Bush's war" are as innocent in this as he is innocent in 9/11 (i.e., not at all). He points to the election and failure of the Democrats as proof democracy doesn't work (maybe he has a point there), he rants about corporations like some Naderite, says how bad things are for our troops to basically urge us to "support the troops by bringing them home," says "no red blood for black oil," and has the usual crap about how we should all convert to Islam despite how sucky Islamic countries are. He even makes a conservative argument for it by arguing how Islam has low low taxes (only 2.5%!).

Oh, and the the new French president, Sarkozy, gets an angry mention. Welcome to the fold! There's hope for the French yet!

UPDATE 4:

What I don't get from the video is what exactly was the reaction he was hoping from 9/11 since apparently the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq weren't it.

UPDATE 5:

I should also note that Osama is not a Truther since he sounds pretty sure he's responsible for 9/11. Someone should ask him about WTC 7.

BTW, his beard might be fake. Here's what Exurban League believes an unshaven Osama might look like. IMAO came up with a different result for an unshaven Osama based on image and rhetoric analysis...

Actually, both Kos and Osama criticized the Dems today for not doing more to get out of Iraq. Coincidence? If we've learned anything from the nutroots it's that nothing is ever a coincidence.

I was at a convention this weekend and I bumped into someone wearing one of your shirts, nuke the moon if I remember correctly.

I asked if he was you so that I could buy him a beer but he said he wasn't.

I proceeded to insult his mother for misleading me.

As long as we get a video of him sawing off Chuckie Schumer's head, I'm all for it!

#2 - Posted by: Master Shake on September 7, 2007 03:57 PM

Next thing you know, Ponnuru will be patiently explaining how it's more like a 3.2% tax than a 2.5% tax, so he should stop exaggerating.

On a serious note, the reaction Bin Laden was trying to get from 9/11 (other than to scare us into converting into Islam) was to convince America to pull it's troops out of Saudi Arabia. Apparently, we had soldiers stationed at bases there to try and keep tabs on happenings in the region in case something came up (i.e. Saddam Hussein thinking that Kuwait is his country...again).
Now, one of the little things nobody knows is that, after 9/11, American military personnel DID in fact leave Saudi Arabia. Granted, the reason they left was to butcher Bin Laden and everyone that didn't utter his name in pure contempt, but they did leave.
And there is your history lesson for the day.

Charon Blackpowder.

Richard Perle has said that Osama's beard might be a fake! Based on the video's content and the latest imaging technology, I've created a composite of what a clean-shaven Osama bin Laden might look like:

Holy crud! You mean my taxes go from 40% to 2.5%? Where do I sign up? errrr... submit... errrr. you know...

Wow, Osama and Kos must be having lunch together or something. No wonder Liberals love this guy! He strokes them all off by saying exactly what they want to hear. You know, I wouldn't be surprised at all if Liberals, who never before would have entertained the idea of believing in God, suddenly decided en masse to become Muslim, just because Osama and his ilk make it sound so fluffy and nice. Liberals want to be subjugated, because then they don't have to take responsibility for anything. But they want a subjugator that they think will still allow them their beloved depravity. People like Osama will eventually convince them that Islam will do just that.

#7 - Posted by: Paul on September 7, 2007 07:26 PM

I wonder what Osama's DU name is????

#8 - Posted by: Clintons Are White Trash on September 7, 2007 07:31 PM

I didn't even get through the second paragraph before I started giggling and making references to Mel Brooks movies ("Lend me your ears!").
Come to think of it, there is a striking resemblance between the two. Must be like those people who create multiple usernames just to agree with themselves so they can feel smart.

BTW, today's Ronin Profile? Doko?

I completely agree! :-D

I'm reading the transcript, and I come to this part, "In the Vietnam War, the leaders of the White House claimed at the time that it was a a necessary and crucial war, and during it, Rumsfeld and his aides murdered two million villagers. And when Kennedy took over the presidency and deviated from the general line of policy drawn up for the White House and wanted to stop this unjust war, that angered the owners of the major corporations who were benefiting from its continuation. And so Kennedy was killed..."

Wow, just wow. Rumsfeld was apparently the power behind the throne as a junior representative from Illinois, and Kennedy somehow traveled through time to 1969, and was shot by Oswald again. Something's not right with that guy's head, but of course, there never was.

SO, if we join him by converting to Islam, do we each get our own goat to boink or do we all have to share his?

Wow, 2.5% and I get three more wives? If I can get dibs on Jessica Alba, I'm all-in.

One has to wonder if OBL is wearing a Che t-shirt under his hijab or whatever the pfargtl it's called.

#14 - Posted by: ZK on September 7, 2007 11:42 PM

Frank had it right: I want to see Bush release a video response on YouTube. I can see it now: a nondescript SS agent with a brief case handcuffed to his wrist and Bush sitting there about to push a big red button with a map of Asia in the background and a big red X over Iran.

#15 - Posted by: jihadonlibs on September 7, 2007 11:46 PM

He also advocates his tax-free policies... does this mean Osama is coming out in favor of abolishing the jizya? Is this the Democratic platform position as well?

#16 - Posted by: DaveS on September 8, 2007 12:06 AM

Sure no taxes are great, but No Booze, No dice!

#17 - Posted by: rjschwarz on September 8, 2007 01:19 AM

But did Osama mention how Ron Paul is the only TRUE conservative and the only person who can save America?

#18 - Posted by: Bob in Feenicks on September 8, 2007 01:39 AM

Actually, since the video doesn't show Osama pissing his pants and surrendering to us suggests to me that it is several days old, at least.
It was recorded before news that Fred Thompson is running for President could reach him.

#19 - Posted by: Bob in Feenicks on September 8, 2007 01:46 AM

Yes, infidels..its true! Switch to Islam, and lower your taxes! In fact, for the next twenty-five minutes, every convert to Islam also gets this attractive traveling mug, and "hang in there, Kitty" poster! Ahmed-Mouhammed, your friendly time-life operator, is standing by for your call.

#20 - Posted by: G8r on September 8, 2007 06:45 AM

Apparently you can still pick up Air America in Pakistan. Maybe they should put OBL in the coveted afternoon drive-time slot. Uhh, except the nut-roots don't have jobs to drive home from.

To understand bin-Laden, you must understand the myth that is the basis of his self-delusion. The myth originated with Egyptian writer Sayyid Qutb, who concluded that the weakness of the Muslim world stemmed from the fact that it had drifted away from 'pure Islam'. On this view, Allah had permitted the Jews to prevail in their establishment and defense of Israel as a punishment for this drift, and only a return to Islamic purity would win back the favor of Allah and give Muslims the strength to defeat Israel and the 'Great Satan', America.

Egyptian doctor Ayman al-Zawahiri, among others, was taken with this theory -- and so was bin-Laden. Each saw the governments of their respective nations as contaminated by western influence -- and each wanted to overthrow that government and replace it with pure Islamic rule. Then, and only then, would the Muslim world be strong enough to destroy Israel and America and reestablish the caliphate.

To prove this theory, bin-Laden and al-Zawahiri traveled to Afghanistan to show what 'pure Islamic warriors' could do to defeat the superpower USSR. The Afghani mujahideen, who had been fighting the USSR for years, report that the 'pure Islamic warriors' that bin-Laden and al-Zawahiri brought to Afghanistan were in fact rather inept and of little help. That, however, is not the way bin-Laden and al-Zawahiri tell the tale. According to them, their warriors were responsible for the events that transpired there and the eventual withdrawal of the Soviets from Afghanistan was cited as proof that Qutb was right.

And so bin-Laden began to spread the word through the Muslim world that he was bent on fighting the Americans by raising an army of pure Islamic warriors. When Hussein invaded Kuwait in 1990, he tried desperately to convince the king of Saudi Arabia that his 'holy warriors' could fend off Husseins massive tank armies if they tried to come into Saudi Arabia. The king, realizing as Heinlein put it that 'God fights on side with heaviest artillary', was unconvinced and called 1-800-USA-Army instead.

Bin-Laden was furious over this. He left Saudi Arabia (actually he was thrown out) and made his way back to Afghanistan. Though bin-Laden cited the presence of American troops in Saudi Arabia as a reason for the 9/11 attacks, their removal was not his primary objective. His primary objective was to provoke America into coming to Afghanistan to fight him, where, he passionately believed, his holy warriors would defeat her just as they defeated the USSR. That would prove once and for all the power of 'pure Islam' and serve to rally enough forces to overthrow the corrupt, 'contaminated' governments of Saudi Arabia and Egypt.

But bin-Laden failed to grasp the vast difference between the USSR and the United States military. Time and again his 'holy warriors' have proven no match for US troops. Bin-Laden was routed out of Afghanistan in a humiliating defeat and has been smarting ever since. He desperately needs some kind of victory to re-energize the troops. If we give up and leave Iraq, it will allow him to claim precisely such a victory.

#22 - Posted by: Michael Smith on September 8, 2007 01:48 PM

@Charon Blackpowder: "...American military personnel DID in fact leave Saudi Arabia."

Yes, they went into Iraq. It's much easier to keep a lid on Iraq from inside Iraq as it is from Saudi and Kuwait.

And I support withdrawing the troops from Iraq to Iran for the same reasons.
