Ask Fred - Tax Code
Posted by Frank J. at 03:49 PM | View blog reactions | Comments (8)

Here's the first Ask Fred with Fred Thompson answering a question about reforming the tax code. This is pretty cool and I hope he does more. To think, Fred Thompson might not only read something you wrote... but actually respond to it, too!

Fred "Yes"
The current tax code is a mess.
We need to replace it.
But he does not tie himself to one idea for replacing it...Fred is smart.

Fred thinks the current tax code was written by a wide stancer in the Minneapolis Airport restroom and needs to be rewritten immediately!

His first post from the iPhone and his first time capitalizing his name.

umm. ok. I know this won't be popular here, but is anyone else less than impressed that he made his first Ask Fred response a rambling one on a boring subject like tax code? I suppose it could be sly in that there's nowhere to go but up from this brutal performance, but geez. you'd think with the opportunity to perfectly craft a response to a pre-submitted question he could do a little better than THAT??

#5 - Posted by: tommy on September 17, 2007 03:01 AM

tommy:

Yes, the performance did kinda suck, seeing how he is an actor and all...but I'm glad to see he is thinking about something as mundane as the tax code and not just the popular subjects everyone else is pissing and moaning about (Iraq, healthcare, blah blah blah....)

sidenote: I'm not going to spontaneously evaporate for critizing Fred am I? I tried to do it as respectfully as possible...

I wasn't impressed... Fred basically stated the question as a statement. Q. the tax code is inefficient, what are you going to do about it? A. The tax code is inefficient, and we need to do something about it.

#7 - Posted by: Daniel on September 17, 2007 08:29 AM

timmy, you are completely right about that, and I don't mean to criticize the choice of subject qua subject, but qua FIRST subject, kwim?
