Strnj1
Let's meet some more IMAO readers. Today, it's Strnj1.

* * * *

What's the story behind your name? Old blue collar worker with a degree whose been investing since his late twenties. Hence, a lot of the "Do you know who I am ?" White Collar crowd have a very hard time trying to comprehend my "Doesn't impress me." attitude.

Where do you live? Richmond, VA ( Ya know, still fightin' the Civil War till we realized we were, now, being invaded from the south.)

How old are you? Throwin' away AARP mailers...

Tell us briefly about yourself. Ol' Computer geek... I've been building my own since Bill Gates was an IBM contractor.

How long have you been reading IMAO? Seems like a several years... Time flies when you're having fun.

What's your favorite IMAO post? The Chronicles of W when they were around... (Bought the book.) Now, it's "lolterizt!"

If you were to describe IMAO in three words, what would those be? Either the obvious, "Nuke the Moon" or the more subtle but to the point, "Punch Monkey Faces."

What's you favorite political issue? My "favorite" is the Flat Tax. The one that irritates me the most is the blatant illegal population and those that exploit them.

Do you have a website? If so, please tell us briefly about it. Nope, somewhat of a recluse unless drawn out.

Given a choice between Order and Chaos, what would be the name of your rock band? That's easy. Chaos. You should see my house.

If you commented in the latest post asking for participants, you're still in the running. Thanks to everyone who has participated so far; just because you may not think you're interesting doesn't mean we won't enjoy your story.

Computer Geeks unite! Ooooh your one of those old school computer geeks, awesome. When I see people like you at work I get so jealous of your skillz.

I probably would have said Order, since it would be expected of a rock band to name themselves Chaos, thereby countering the point of being a rock band (kinda). However, that would probably get me accused of being behind 9/11...

Nice to meet ya. My parents have been getting the mailers too, so don't feel bad... I think.

Forget what Slick Willy said, IMAO is a far more genuine cross secion of the Real America than his stupid sycophantic cabinet. I'm amazed at the variety of folks who come here to hang out...

...unless everyone is just making stuff up. Not that I have. (cough)

PaleoMedic, I know everything I said in my ronin profile was a dirty lie, made it all up! I'm actually a devout catholic nun of 85 who despises music.

Who else lied on their Profiles?

Confession time:

I'm Mr. Jenkins, the owner of the local carnival. And I would have gotten away with it, if not for you meddling kids.

"Oh yeah, wait! Yar! I be the Ghost of Pointy Beard, Captain of the Jolly Rancher from the Barbrady Coast. I come to pillage yer stuff."

Totally freeforming here, can you dig it? (Shouldn't drink on a weeknight)

I confess that doing the Ronin profile was one of the most satisfying moments in my life.

Oh, sorry, that wasn't me. Musta been somebody else. I was eating an ice cream at the time.

I've been getting AARP mailers since I was 25. Apparently only old doofers get the Limbaugh Letter......

#7 - Posted by: will.see on September 20, 2007 07:48 AM

That is about the shortest, most "to the point" Ronin Profile ever. Hardly any embellishment and STILL funny and interesting. You, sir, are a great Ronin!

Welcome to the Ronin pile!

will.see, I got mail from the AARP once, and I'm only 18.

#9 - Posted by: AR on September 20, 2007 09:58 AM

I echo AR's statement about Skillz envy. I'm a PC tech and have been since exactly one week before Radical Islam woke the sleeping Giant.

I didn't even start supporting computers or really working on them until 2000. So when I see the folks who've been in from the beginning, I get jealous and nervous about my job. ;-)

Also, having seen folk from the birth of the modern computing age, I agree that Strange One is probably not an ironic nickname.

#10 - Posted by: DesertElephant on September 20, 2007 11:24 AM

I've way overspecialized in computers.. I can program just fine, but when people start talking about hardware my head starts hurting, I don't know how those guys who were into computers from the beginning did it all....... It just impresses me to no end.

I "would" be nervous about Strnj1 and people like him preventing me from getting a job because of their more general knowledge, but then I remember they'll be dead soon, and stop stressing.

#11 - Posted by: AR on September 20, 2007 11:30 AM

AR,

I wouldn't be too concerned about anyone preventing you from finding a job.

Maintenance, HVAC, Plumbing, IT, or any other 24/7 service job has to deal with the Bachelors, Masters, or Doctorate degrees calling them at 0200 and telling them that, in your case, their computer doesn't work.

You try to get them to try a couple of simple things over the phone, they take it as talking "down to them," tell you in so many words that it's not their job...

You come all the way to work, turn their monitor back on for them, and go back home.

It's the closest thing to "job security" that I've witnessed... (unless you slip up and laugh in front of them)
