As a Bible reader myself, I gotta admit I appreciate the Old Testament's take on warriors a teeny bit more than the "turning the other cheek" thing in the new Testament. Don't get me wrong, I totally get Jesus and how He died for my sins; I just like the idea of "onward Christian soldiers" in the more soldier-y sense.

Wow, just when I thought this site couldn't get any cooler, I find another Rose-Hulman grad here! I too, graduated from Rose and am currently living in (West) Lafayette. I'm getting my masters in electrical engineering so I can follow in the footsteps of the legendary Frank J. and start my own blog someday. (Although, I'll need to improve my drawing skills if I hope to equal Frank's artistic talent.)

I'm glad to see that Rose-Hulman is so 'adequate'-ly (cmon, laugh it up) represented here at IMAO.

Disclaimer- We go to Evangelical Covenant and live in the south side maze of cookie cutter houses, so we did not visit churches on your side of the river.

From friends at work, I have heard good things about St Andrews if the Methodist church is acceptable. You also may be young enough to enjoy the college fellowship at Purdue.

Finally, I will put in the plug for the Riverside Covenant Church. Personally I like the Covenant church because outside of a very small amount of dogma (Jesus is both fully God and fully Man. Jesus died to atone for your sins and then rose from the dead, ascended into heaven and will return to judge the earth) that pretty much define being a Christian IMHO, everything else we can agree to disagree. They even have room for Christians like me who think maybe that the book of Genesis is allegorical without threating to burn me at the stake as a witch.

I just graduated from Rose this past May. And I'm not so sure about that 'estrogen levels soaring' - while it's true that Rose is now coed, all the girls there are engineering majors, so.... Well, let's just say that John Edwards produces more estrogen than all the girls at Rose put together.

Remington 870 or Mossberg 500. I'd stay away from most of the semi-auto's except for the Benelli M1 Super 90.
Just finished our yearly qualification last week and one of the instructors said down at the MSHP range he saw 2 pump-gunners beat a semi shooter by 2 rounds in a speed shoot.

Thanks for the advice, the shotgun is more for show (I plan to be cleaning one in my underwear when I meet the young gentlemen). Kind of a Nuke The Moon strategy for my daughters virtue, if they think I am crazy, the boys are slightly less likely to be stupid.

Of course, having been a teenage boy myself, I know that even heads on pikes over the door may not dissuade all others from trying.

If I actually had to ahem deal with any of them, I know of a sink hole to an abandoned coal mine where nothing that goes in will ever be found.
