In 1901 it was Henry Dunant and Frédéric Passy. Can we say, "Slow news day?" #2 - Posted by: on October 12, 2007 02:46 PMNot sure if that is satire. Hitler never won the prize. He was nominated. #3 - Posted by: ojohn9936 on October 12, 2007 02:48 PMThe single worthy recipient was the 1906 winner, Theodore "Big Stick" Roosevelt. Bashing f'urners until they become peaceful (or dead) is the only tried and true method of achieving a meaningful peace. #4 - Posted by: Alamo on October 12, 2007 02:51 PMNope, nope. No satire on imao.us. Everyone can go home now. #5 - Posted by: Koolaider on October 12, 2007 02:53 PMFrank - Any way we can get some Fun Facts about the Nobel Peace Prize? #6 - Posted by: Chad on October 12, 2007 02:58 PMI'm just wondering if the "fist" (fist recipient) was intentional or more Freudian in nature. #7 - Posted by: Veeshir on October 12, 2007 03:17 PMFirst it was first, then it was fist. Someone is playing some fisting games here. #8 - Posted by: PostToasties on October 12, 2007 03:41 PMI second chad's point. fun facts on the 'peace' prize. ( after Yasser Arafat won the peace in peace prize should be in quotes) #9 - Posted by: ceann rua on October 12, 2007 03:54 PMHow is that Chris Makepeace never won? #10 - Posted by: bunkerboy on October 12, 2007 04:00 PMHow is IT that Chris Makepeace nev - aah, never mind... #11 - Posted by: bunkerboy on October 12, 2007 04:03 PMI'm really surprised that Gore got it. I thought they would've awarded it posthumously to Hussein or Dr. Joseph Mengele. Of if it's designated for those still living, why not Mahmed Ahmadinejad? Cindy Sheehan? Honestly, what has Gore actually done to deserve it? All he did was organize a few self-serving rock concerts to propagate a faulty theory based on bad scientific data. #12 - Posted by: AlanABQ on October 12, 2007 04:05 PM( after Yasser Arafat won the peace in peace prize should be in quotes) bah. it's been a joke much longer than that... since at least 1978 when anwar al-sadat was made co winner... what a joke. #13 - Posted by: shane on October 12, 2007 04:52 PMFrom what I can see if it's history, the Nobel Peace prize has almost as much moral relevancy to world peace as an Academy Award. #14 - Posted by: floyd on October 12, 2007 05:11 PMI would dispute that even Teddy Roosevelt was worthy of receiving it. Yes, he had a phrase thats good, but he won the prize for negotiating peace between Russia and Japan. Aside from the fact that we shouldn't be encouraging for'ners to stop killing each other, he also negotiated the peace in favor of the Japanese empire (and the Japanese actually were an empire, not a fantasy empire like thing that liberals accuse us of being). Helping out a country that was already developing a semi-eugenicist psychology is not what I consider to be a prize worthy accomplishment. #15 - Posted by: Luminos on October 12, 2007 05:18 PMOne of the sideshows of the Institute of Legitimate Wisdom, should it ever be founded, will be the Legitimate Peace Prize. For legitimate peace. (after Yasser Arafat won the peace in peace prize should be in quotes) Or maybe an ASTERISK * next to it in baseball home run fashion? algore: nobel peace* prize winner #18 - Posted by: shimauma on October 12, 2007 09:49 PMFollowing the Liberal logic of the Nobel committee, I think we should suggest other potential candidates. Mine would be: OJ Simpson (Or maybe an ASTERISK * next to it in baseball home run fashion?) shimauma that works, I, Being a member of Red Sox Nation, like any idea that came from baseball works. (oh and GO SOX!!!!!!!) #20 - Posted by: ceann rua on October 13, 2007 05:38 PMshould have read at the end It's okay ceann rua, we know Red Sox fans are all wicked retahded... #22 - Posted by: bunkerboy on October 13, 2007 11:23 PMThe good news is Hitler didn't win. The bad news is that Algore did. At least he didn't win for inventing the internet or for his scientific work on Global Warming. #23 - Posted by: seanmahair on October 14, 2007 06:54 PMbunkerboy, yes I'm a cripple but not retahded, I use a wheelchair. but at least I'm not a yankee fan. what are they doing now? playing golf. #24 - Posted by: ceann rua on October 14, 2007 08:30 PMPost a comment
