To Be Fair, a Lot of People Base Their Votes on Even Dumber Reasons
Posted by Frank J. at 10:10 AM | View blog reactions | Comments (12)

Apparently black women are having trouble figuring out whether to vote for the black person or the woman, because they're both black and women. It's much easier for black men, because they have a black man to vote for, but black women have to decide which is their more important identity: Being black or being a woman.

Maybe black women will now know what it feels like to be a white male, because identity politics gets us nowhere since all our choices are white men. We actually have to analyze the candidates on the issues, and it sucks. I look forward to a day when a black man, a Hispanic, an Asian, and others are all running together in the Republican primary and then I can carefully look through all the diverse candidates until I find the one white dude and vote for him.

It'll come down to sexual identity I'm guessing.

Those women who like men will probably vote for the Senator from Illinois for the same reason my mother-in-law voted for JFK in '60. Cause he was a fine man, so I'm told.

Those women who don't like men will probably vote for the Carpetbagger from NY. Cause she will definitely stick it to the man.

Black voters have truly elevated racism and sexism to an expert level.

Silly Frank: you should be choosing your white male candidate by how much hair he has (on his head). Bald men vote differently than balding men or men who have lots of hair on their heads! From your photos, you must be a Brownback voter. See how easy that is?

Yeah, I want to be racist like all the pure-blooded minorities, but as a white-looking mutt there's just no way. I have to resort to careful consideration instead of browsing for externals. Dammit.

bigbro says with confidence: Judge Clarence Thomas and Oprah, and all the other wealthy blacks with influence, vote GOP.

Poor blacks don't vote.

What's everyone getting ideologically excited about for women and blacks in the Oval Office?

Oh, yeah. Like a woman is going to be president. Right. I forget that the lunatic fringe have their illusiionary dreams of Che style rapture.

Okay, okay. Since the Clinton definition of oral sex is not having sexual relations, try to visualize Hillary not having sexual relations with Karl Rove on his knees, in the same chair that Bill did not have sexual relations with Monica. You want your delusional fantasy, have it all the way.

In a popularity poll between Laura Bush, Ann Coulter and Hillary, Hillary would come in third. And maybe fourth, if you go with the theory that Ann Coulter is a transsexual.

The Democrats made progress at midterm. Then they did the expected. They took success into suicide. So, you got four years of President Mit Romney coming up. You got George Bush becoming Governor of Florida to ensure Jeb Bush's future presidenty.

And you wonder if there will ever be a Democrat as President any time in this century.

"We actually have to analyze the candidates on the issues, and it sucks."

Great line! We wouldn't want race or gender to get in the way of evaluating candidates' issue positions!

I'll say the same thing here that I said over at PW: It's cause black women know black men ain't good fer NUTHIN.

On a side note, and a bit of shameless self-promotion: you can look up key congressional votes sorted by astrological sign.

I have said this before:
If you don't vote for Hillary you are a sexist.
If you don't vote for Obama you are a racist.
If you don't vote for Edwards you are a homophobe.

#8 - Posted by: DoubleU on October 18, 2007 12:51 PM

We all know Republican men are sexist, racist homophobes. For Republican women, I guess two out of three ain't bad!

But what about hate? I HATE Clinton, Obama and Edwards. So, for your fourth entry: If you don't vote Democrat, you're a "hate monger."

if you watch TV vote for a celebrity candidate ?

#10 - Posted by: mike on October 18, 2007 04:11 PM

Hey you guys, you all act like it is sooo easy to figure out who to vote for if you are a woman. I'm telling you it's tough. It's not like trying to pick which sports team you are going root for. Candidates don't gave team colors or uniforms or then you could decide by who has the best color-sense or cutest mascot. They all just wear suits and ties that you know their wives have picked out. (Except, Edwards, he is quite capable of picking out his own suits and ties.) If a candidate has questionable tie/suit co-ordination, well you just know his wife can't be trusted to re-decorate the Oval Office and pick out the new china pattern when they get in and we would be a laughing stock to the rest of the world. We wouldn't want that would we? Talk about pressure.

My mother comes right out and says she voted for John Kennedy because "he was so cute". I have to assume he was better-looking on TV than in pictures - I'm half-Irish-American and I've never thought he was that good-looking. Thankfully, Mother met my father - an Irishman who'd voted for Nixon!!! and then volunteered for Goldwater - and eventually he put her straight.
