Question

So who likes illegal immigration more: President Bush or Mike Huckabee?

There's a lot I like about Huckabee, but it's really hard for me to get behind someone who just doesn't understand what should be an extremely simple issue.

Ahh man; he's on FOX News right now arguing for the closing of Gitmo. Whoever started the Huckabee train, please hit the breaks.

UPDATE:

And he's against waterboarding now because it's all mean and stuff. Is it too much to ask the Republicans to not nominate some namby-pamby?

I tell you, if we elect Huckabee, as soon as he's president he'll bloat up into a giant tubby taxer again while chiding us between bites of pie about how we all hate brown people for caring about the issue of illegal immigration.

For some reason Huck scares me more than Hillary.

Isn't he a former governor of Arkansas. Seems to me we've had problems before with former governors of Arkansas. I really don't think that there is much difference between these two characters.

Truth be told there isn't enough "character" between them to make one good man.

I was thinking the same thing. People who support Huck because He's an out front Christian need to remember that is exactly how Carter campaigned.

He loves pie, taxes, and illegal aliens. Huck does the best job of presenting the old Dem platform.

Jimmah Huckabee.

What is it with Hope Arkansas?

Something seems to turn people born there into grinning fat lefties with the power to warp minds and seize political power!

Something vile in the water? An alien spacecraft buried in the swamp?

Wierd!

New converts to conservatism often bring baggage and world views they think will be popular.

#7 - Posted by: spacemonkey on December 4, 2007 12:50 PM

I keep picturing him being pied in the face by Pie Man... aka Homer Simpson.

You know... that Chuck for Huck spot looks worse all the time for Chuck. He is rapidly losing coolness points. Proof: I typed this AND hit "Post" without having a roundhouse-kick pop out of the monitor. In the old days, I'd have been on the floor before I even hit "Preview."

Brown peoples have tasty new cuisine and delicious desserts.

New Constitutional ammendment. "No person shall be elected President of The United States, EVER who has resided in, driven through or been seen near the state or Arkansas"

Let's keep his dump-the-IRS tax plan, though.

FWIW, Fred Thompson said he'd sign HR 25 if it ever came across his desk.

#13 - Posted by: Mad Insomniac on December 4, 2007 02:59 PM

At least Huckabee has the courage to say Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a brontosaurus.

Seriously though, a win for Huckabee in Iowa wounds Romney in New Hampshire, thereby setting the stage for three different winners (Romney barely in NH, Rudy in SC) before the Florida primary, which Rudy should win before he wraps it all up on Feb. 5th, Super Duper Tuesday. And yes, sorry IMAOers, Fred is finished after South Carolina.

However, if the Bible-thumpers hand Huckleberry a victory in South Carolina...

#14 - Posted by: bunkerboy on December 4, 2007 03:00 PM

Some good could come out of Huckabee winning Iowa, though, because he's spent next to zilch there while Romney has spent a bazillion dollars.

If he wins, he blows a major hole in Romney (the one guy I can't stand - yes, even more than Ron Paul). Best case scenario: Huckabee wins Iowa; Romney implodes and takes Giuliani with him; Thompson is the only viable candidate standing. Republicans run Thompson/Huckabee 2008.

Yeah, I think Huck would make a great VP.

#15 - Posted by: Mad Insomniac on December 4, 2007 03:07 PM

I agree. I'd really like to see a Thompson/Huckabee ticket

#16 - Posted by: D-Rock on December 4, 2007 05:12 PM

What do you have against romney? Don't you know that he's the second coming of James Madison? Only Romney can restore the Declaration of Independence! Romney's the only true conservative! Callooh! Callay!

#17 - Posted by: luminos on December 4, 2007 05:53 PM

Ron Paul is a whackjob; WYSIWYG. If he were sane, stuck to the MYOB small-government stuff, and thought that killing terrorists was a good idea, I'd actually like the guy.

Romney is a fraud. If wanted to vote for a big-government, gun-grabbing, state-rights-trampling, rent-seeking liberal, I'd do that. Yeah, I know, he's got business experience. I'll be damned if I know what that means (yet another bozo who's figured out a way to make money without producing anything of value?); what I do know is that the manufacturing sector shrunk in Mass., to the tune of about 10% or so, while he was governor, so color me unimpressed.

That, and he'd divert half of domestic oil production to the manufacture of Vitalis.

I just don't trust the guy, with the same level of mistrust I otherwise reserve for She Who Must Not Be Named.

#18 - Posted by: Mad Insomniac on December 4, 2007 06:15 PM

I was under the impression that manufacturing shrunk just about everywhere, but 10% is a lot. I have no idea what state's rights problems romney's run into. He's also changed issues enough to bring doubt unto his credibility, but if he's nearly as smart as he seems, then he won't intentionally act inconsistently with his newfound conservatism.

#19 - Posted by: luminos on December 4, 2007 07:41 PM

I'm openly rooting for Thompson, and I hope Huckabee falls of the face of the Earth after losing the primary. However, if he resurfaced to run for U.S. Senate against Blanche Lincoln, I'd be ok with that.

"Huckabee" sounds like the name of a new lawn toy.
