Ron Paul Doesn't Translate Well
Posted by Frank J. at 12:52 PM | View blog reactions | Comments (10)

Here's Ron Paul at the Spanish debate in Miami saying we should restore ties with Castro's Cuba. My favorite part is when they pan over to McCain who is cracking up:

BTW, at the beginning they're cheering the vote rejecting Hugo Chavez, not cheering for Hugo Chavez (it may be a Spanish language debate, but it's a Republican Spanish language debate).

(hat tip Hot Air)

UPDATE:

From the same debate:

Asked what he would do with Castro, who has reigned through nine different U.S. presidents, Fred Thompson said, grinning: "I'm going to make sure that he didn't survive 10 U.S. presidents."

Fred Thompson is awesome.

Although Ron Paul's response was terrible, his Spanish was far better than I expected.

This headline explains why there is so much confusion on the illegal immigration
"Republicans Temper Anti-Immigrant Talk"
With the exception of Tancredo, none of the candidates have suggested legal immigration be halted,or have a temporary moratorium on all immigration. But they all want to stop ILLEGAL immigration, yet the press says lines like this as the headline. This makes people that just read the headline see the Republicans as hating immigration.
I would like to see some candidate (Fred) take on the press for their spin all the time.

...Proof that Ron Paul is a freakin' crank in any language.

Hmmm... I'd like to propose a theory. The stupider Huckabee and Paul get, the cooler Thompson gets.

Dude, Fred Thompson actually said that! I thought at first Frank was just putting words in his mouth, but he actually said that at the debate! Just another example of why Fred! Thompson is so fricking awesome.

I think the look on Paul's face after that first attempted point is hilarious.

"Ok Ronnie, that was bad. We're off to a bad start. Maybe if we explain Teh Crazy a little bit more... Nope, still bad."

I love Fred's comment. Why isn't he getting more traction in the polls? Rush had several complimentary comments about Fred after the last debate, but it didn't seem to translate into any increased polling numbers.

I like Fred's "just doesn't care what the MSM says about my campaign style" attitude. He says what he thinks and moves on to the next subject.

That's worthy of Fosterdad's new signature file. I've been looking for a new Fred quote for a while. This is perfect.

If FDT really did say that, I gotta admit it would be totally cool to have a Prez who is THAT unapologetically candid. And tough. Shades of Ronaldus Maximus' "evil empire" and all, which we need.

The MSM would literally be drooling incoherently and soiling themselves under a Thompson administration, which is reason enough for me to vote for him.

Not Huckabeee -- he wants to go door-to-door and give them all a big, sloppy kiss for coming to do the jobs Americans won't.

Amirite?
