Tonight: New Hampshire
Posted by Frank J. at 05:23 PM | View blog reactions | Comments (24)

Well, I guess on the Republican side I'm rooting for McCain because strategically that may be better for Fred Thompson (though I'm not sure). As for the Democrats, I am starting to think that Obama could run away with the election based on his charisma alone (which only Huckabee might be able to match). A Huckabee/Obama race would be interesting, as it would be all about who talks purtier and who is least naive on foreign policy. It would also mark that America has surrendered on being serious about international threats.

Anyway, keep in mind that independents can vote in the New Hampshire primaries, and there are no one dumber than independents.

UPDATE:

Yeah, looks like McCain winning tonight is the key to Fred Thompson making his stand and winning South Carolina. Go Maverick!

UPDATE 2:

Well, it's a big day for McCain. My thoughts on what this means tomorrow (after I think them).

Rating: 4.5/5 (1 vote cast)

You forgot that it's the "Battle of the Guys with Funny Names". I think deep down a piece of everyone has wanted it to end up like that since we first heard the name "Huckabee".

Wow. It's really pathetic and desperate when you have to hope some other candidate wins just so your guy has a chance to win.

What would be even more pathetic is that the guy who you need to win New Hampshire (so your candidate has a chance to win South Carolina) goes ahead and wins New Hampshire and then your guy still loses South Carolina anyway. That's probably what is going to happen to your candidate.

New Hampshire, with about 1% of the electoral votes, is an UBER LIBERAL state. And the next time you hear about New Hampshire after tomorrow will be when Canada attacks or the next Presidential election.

yep cant wait to see what happens, who ever gets in office will have to do a;ot to sustain this empire.....without real empirical data that defines terorism, one can't tell. Albeit it is one of the factors I belive that is leading to the fall of America....hope 2 die

#4 - Posted by: rawdawgbuffalo on January 8, 2008 07:32 PM

Fox just called it for McCain.

#5 - Posted by: Andrew on January 8, 2008 08:13 PM

Awww, how cute. A troll pimping it's blog in the comments.

You're going to let the New Hampsters live? Hardly seems fair to those worthless corn fondlers.

Ron Paul just kicked Fred's butt. Take that Fredshead losers!!!! Ron Paul's money counter is going crazy tonight!

#8 - Posted by: PaulisKewl on January 8, 2008 09:26 PM

It is so kewl that Fred Thompson has been skewled by Ron Paul. So what's it feel like to totally suck?

#9 - Posted by: PaulisKewl on January 8, 2008 09:29 PM

Ron Paul's money counter is going crazy tonight!

Yeah, I hear those neo-Nazis and troofers have lots of disposable income....

#10 - Posted by: Master Shake on January 8, 2008 09:30 PM

Talk about pathetic.
Thompson gets his ass handed to him by BOTH Ron Paul and Denis Kucinich! He was lucky to get 1%!
I'm starting to wonder if the story that Thompson is in as a spoiler for his Senate Buddy Qwai Chang McCain and NOT because he has any real interest in being President. I went to three Thompson events in NH and prayed that he might start showing some live but he may as well have shown up in his bath robe & slippers complaining about his oatmeal being cold. His campaign is a sick joke.
The Idea of McCain being President and him putting Ted Kennedy on the Supreme Court is getting too ugly tpo think about.
A Clinton/McCain race is like having to choose between Lenin and Trotsky but that may be the option we face. Someone on FNC noted that while we are at war with radical islamists America is approaching the Presidential election the same way we look at choosing the next "American Idol".
We are doomed, time to start loading the AK mags and filling sand bags...

Well, it's a big day for McCain. My thoughts on what this means tomorrow (after I think them).

Guess it means Fred Thompson sucks? Right? Ron Paul is better. Fred should drop out and endorse Paul.

#12 - Posted by: PaulisKewl on January 8, 2008 09:46 PM

Honestly, the Ronulans have gone past the "oh, it's so sad it's cute" stage (much like a mange-ridden monkey), and they, much like said monkey, need to be put down. Get this through your heads, kiddies: your candidate is not going to get the presidency. He's not even going to get a real nod for the party nomination. Of course, I'm sure you'll all claim there's some conspiracy when this happens, and that's fine, because then you'll all crawl back into your holes and leave dealing with reality to the adults.

Historically its actually been a very libertarian state, with very low taxes and loose gun laws, though recently refugees from the liberal states around it have been turning it liberal (somehow, despite the fact they moved to NH for the economic opportunities and low crime rates, they fail to see that liberalism phails).

#14 - Posted by: on January 8, 2008 10:21 PM

Why is Dennis Kucinich so un-loved???

Is it because he looks like one of Sponge Bob Square Pants's Farts?

#15 - Posted by: Cincinnati_Bob on January 8, 2008 10:33 PM

Ugh, hilldog won NH. The flying monkeys have spoken...

#16 - Posted by: crazyjetguy on January 8, 2008 10:48 PM

I think we have a better chance of beating Hillary and there's a distant chance she'll actually take the war seriously if she does win, so it's not all bad.

It is so kewl that Fred Thompson has been skewled by Ron Paul. So what's it feel like to totally suck?

I felt crappy. Then I realized I didn't donate my life savings and spent my entire last few months trolling every single website that barely mentions the guy. I felt much better.

#17 - Posted by: WAL on January 8, 2008 11:28 PM

Fred should drop out and endorse Paul.

Why? Ron Paul's all but finished.

What a shock!

#18 - Posted by: AlanABQ on January 8, 2008 11:56 PM

After several months of constant Ronulan statements that I've seen on this and other blogs, I'm firmly convinced that there is a segment of this population that is just, basically, off the hook insane. Bipolar is too kind of a definition.

I would support a campaign to give Alaska to Ron Paul, so that he and his supporters could move up there and leave the rest of us the hell alone, but then we'd have to steal his oil, so instead, it might just be more feasible to give him California, where they can build a huge fence around themselves, go out into the desert sands in Death Valley, and bury their heads in it.

The ultimate irony of all this is the Ronulans are as devoted to him as the LDS was to Joseph Smith in the 1800's. Seriously. If we don't get a handle on this thing, we're going to end up with a strange, wacked-out alien-worshiping religion like Scientology.

#19 - Posted by: otcconan on January 9, 2008 05:55 AM

Memo to Ronulans: give my internet back, you spamming psychos.

#20 - Posted by: otcconan on January 9, 2008 05:56 AM

McCain's winning gives him momentum. It should be interesting to see how Michigan plays out. If he wins there, Romney is done, and the question becomes where do his votes go?

I think McCain could be the compromise candidate, because Huck is unacceptable to the "Thank you, Sir, may I have another" economic conservatives who think it is dandy greedy CEO's are shipping their livlihood to China.

Rudy is unacceptable to the Christian right.

So who does that leave? Well, sorry, Fredheads, that leaves McCain.

#21 - Posted by: JoeB131 on January 9, 2008 06:26 AM

Piss on McCain.

#22 - Posted by: TheHat on January 9, 2008 07:51 AM

Qwai Chang McCain IS NOT an option.
McCain has an F- rating from Gun Owners of America. Dr. Lott recently had an article on NRO listing the dirty, back door gun control laws McCain has snuck past us.
Do an honest search thru his Senate record. He has more votes with the DNC than the GOP.
The sick amnesty bill we had to kill was CO-SPONSERED by McCain and he still does not get it.
His other personal monument is the horrid McCain-Feingold Campaign Finance Bill that attacks free speech.
When the Dems had to stop Bush from putting strict constructionist Judges on the Federal benches the guy they turned to was none other than McCain and his "Gang of 14". McCain has buddied up with uber-liberals from Teddy Kennedy to Russ Feingold to enact crap laws.
Do you listen to anybody like Rush or Glenn Beck on the radio? McCain has express support for Liberal efforts to restore the "Fairness Doctrine" which will be a tool for Teddy & Co. to end free speech on the radio.
Vote for McCain? You may as well vote for Obama or Hitlery.

#23 - Posted by: BLC on January 9, 2008 09:30 AM

BLC, I don't necessarily disagree with what you say, but I am not sure that any of the other options are better.

I like Huckabee, but clearly, a lot of the rest of you don't. It'll take another couple of cycles and probably a recession before his kind of economic populism gets a hearing in the party.

Fred I'd vote for, but honestly, he's done such a horrible job in the primaries, he'll get creamed in the general election, if by some miracle he got that far.

Guiliani is a liberal. He treats his family like crap.

Romney is being recalled by US Robotics...
