BIGGEST THING EVER IN THE HISTORY OF IMAO!!!
Posted by Frank J. at 03:20 PM | View blog reactions | Comments (47)

Guess who I just got off the phone with?

FRED THOMPSON!

Yep, blogger conference call with Fred Thompson himself. All those years of blogging have finally paid off. It was awesome. I had the phone on speaker, and as soon as Fred Thompson started talking, even the dog sat up straight to listen. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get a question in (those other bloggers were vicious, even interrupting the Senator to get a question in; I just wasn't quick enough). I was going to ask if his campaign will put out an official stance on hippies.

Anyway, expect big things in the debate tonight (no quarter for RINOs!), and there is going to be a huge conservative endorsement that will be announced tomorrow. Also, Fred Thompson is going to be on Sean Hannity's radio show pretty soon (3:15 PM ET).

Now is the time to help Fred Thompson in his push in South Carolina. Something like 43% of Republicans there are undecided, and only those who picked Fred Thompson are extremely firm on their choice. Do what you can, donate what you can, and we can get an actual conservative as our candidate. Otherwise, things are going to get boring this year, and the Democrats better nominate Hillary and she better be extra evil just so I have something interesting to blog about.

I'll try and find audio and transcript of the call and update this post with it as soon as I find it.

UPDATE:

Matt Lewis asked if Fred Thompson is going to bring a celebrity to South Carolina to compete with Chuck Norris. That's a stupid idea. Any celebrity is just going to look small standing next to Fred Thompson.

UPDATE 2:

Are you guys going to get annoyed if any time in the future I mention the name "Fred Thompson" I add "who I was just talking to the other day"?

UPDATE 3:

Thoughts on the call from Johnathan Adler and Ed Morrisey (who recorded it).

UPDATE 4:

Jim Geraghty has a rush transcript, and, yes, that was me who said the thing about Bruce Lee.

UPDATE 5:

Reactions from Dan Riehl and Bryan Preston.

UPDATE 6:

BTW, go ahead and speculate in the comments who the big endorsement for Fred Thompson tomorrow is going to be. They wouldn't give us any hints, but they did hype it. Maybe it's God Himself!

Someone needs to punch Matt Lewis in the nads! Fred Thompson is THE celebrity!

Only if you mind me saying "Frank J of IMAO, whose website I just commented on...."

Otherwise, you're in the clear.

Wow....Fred!....Chuck!...in the same state? Hippies all heading to SOUTH Carolina.

I would throw in to every one of your posts from now on "the last time I talked to Fred Thompson, he said"...

#3 - Posted by: ussjimmycarter on January 10, 2008 03:22 PM

I told my wife the other day that Fred Thompson ought to come out as the celebrity endorsing Fred Thompson.

I figured it could go something like this.

Hello, I am Fred Thompson star of Law and Order. I know there has been alot of hubub about Oprah's endorsment of Obama and of Chuck Norris endorsing Huckabee. I just wanted you to know that I am officially throwing my supporrt behind the only real conservative in the race. Fred Thompson. I know that I risk getting blacklisted but my acting career can take a back seat to the needs of the country. So once again I Fred Thompson famous actor am endorsing Fred Thompson for President. Thank You.

[Heh. Great idea. -Ed.]

#4 - Posted by: kerrcarto on January 10, 2008 03:23 PM

Endorsement? Either Mike Ditka or Disco Stu.

Either way, that should just about wrap up the nomination.

#5 - Posted by: Corey on January 10, 2008 03:41 PM

kerrcarto: You are my hero. Fred Thompson for fred Thompson.

(That could be a new shirt.)

#6 - Posted by: Dwayne on January 10, 2008 03:41 PM

Are you guys going to get annoyed if any time in the future I mention the name "Fred Thompson" I add "who I was just talking to the other day"?

Only if you don't change the wording to "to whom I was just talking the other day"....

(Grammar: It's what's for dinner!)

[You go to hell! You go to hell and you die! -Ed.]

Gees, Mrs. Flemming, we're awful touchy today. We really have to do something about that sand in your vagina.

#8 - Posted by: Raving Lunatic on January 10, 2008 04:12 PM

Oh, and for the surprise endorsement? Ronald Reagan via Ouija.

#9 - Posted by: Raving Lunatic on January 10, 2008 04:15 PM

Why must they always misspell our last name when they call you a girl?

I think Newt Gingrich or Rush Limbaugh would be just fantastic.

#10 - Posted by: sarahk on January 10, 2008 04:17 PM

I knew you'd been talking with Fred! because your website loaded 5x faster than ever before.

Oh! And my arthritis got better...and I don't need my glasses to read your site anymore.

#11 - Posted by: Steamboat McGoo on January 10, 2008 04:19 PM

Sorry, SarahK, I went to publik skool. things lik speling and gramer are new to me! Thanks, libs!

#12 - Posted by: Raving Lunatic on January 10, 2008 04:23 PM

Jason Bourne will endorse Fred Thompson -- Although I really like Mike Ditka and Fred Thompson for Fred Thompson. Do endorsements really matter?

#13 - Posted by: Sue on January 10, 2008 04:26 PM

It'll probably be Jesus coming down on a cloud and saying, "You better vote for Fred or I'll make what happened to the Egyptians with Moses seem like a spirited game of Monopoly".

#14 - Posted by: cptnmoroni on January 10, 2008 04:29 PM

I doubt Newt would endorse. He's riding the "Red, White and Blue" coalition thing. He has a fairly broad (and good, for the most part) platform, but he's also pushing the "end of partisanship" line. So, I doubt he comes out and endorses a candidate.

Rush? Maybe. He's been pretty solid about not endorsing a candidate, though. He talks up Romney and Thompson, if by default when contrasting the other candidates. I still don't think it's Rush.

Has the NRA (National) endorsed anyone yet? Landing the NRLC and the NRA pretty much stamps Teh Thompson as Teh Man.

He spoke briefly about being for the 2nd Amendment before it was cool, so maybe it's on his mind.

My money? The national NRA endorsement.

#15 - Posted by: RockThrowingPeasant on January 10, 2008 04:52 PM

Got off the phone with the NRA-ILA. The national org has not endorsed a candidate to date.

#16 - Posted by: RockThrowingPeasant on January 10, 2008 05:00 PM

Are there any conservatives besides Fred Thompson who would give a worthy endorsement?

#17 - Posted by: zdomain on January 10, 2008 05:02 PM
Are you guys going to get annoyed if any time in the future I mention the name "Fred Thompson" I add "who I was just talking to the other day"?
Yeah, I'll be annoyed. Damn right I'll be annoyed. I didn't talk to Fred Thompson the other day. Ever, for that matter. Saw him in Die Hard 2 eight or nine times and on Law & Order: Lunatic Fascist Christians Who Want To Kill People And Blow Up Abortion Clinics or whatever it's called. #18 - Posted by: Christoher Johnson on January 10, 2008 05:03 PM

Roger Clemens? FrankJ? Barry Bonds? SarahK? Bob Dole? Glenn Reynolds? Harvey? Nancy Pelosi? Britney Spears? Joe Gibbs?

The suspense is killing me.

#19 - Posted by: Silicon Valley Jim on January 10, 2008 05:11 PM

Darth...who is married to Lynn...who is supporting Fred.

[You go to hell! You go to hell and you die! -Ed.]

Hah! Thought that might incur the wrath of "Ed." At least he didn't send Fred! after me...I hope.

Now, let me point out all the typographical errors....

#22 - Posted by: Master Shake on January 10, 2008 05:41 PM

As a bonus for my provokation, we now have confirmation that "Ed." is Mr./Ms. Garrison from South Park....

#23 - Posted by: Master Shake on January 10, 2008 05:43 PM

And ignore my spelling error in the last post....

*hangs straw in shame*

#24 - Posted by: Master Shake on January 10, 2008 05:53 PM

I think it's gonna be Ted Frompson myself, but we'll see... :o)

#25 - Posted by: G Fresh on January 10, 2008 06:17 PM

I think it's going to be the NRA that endorses him.

#26 - Posted by: spacekicker on January 10, 2008 06:23 PM

Who is this "Ed" guy, and why is he picking fights with your Faithful Ronin, Sire?

And why doe he always talk in those little ( ) thingies?

John Edwards would endorse Fred! if he thought he could get a date....

#27 - Posted by: howlsatmoon on January 10, 2008 06:25 PM

The Borg are endorsing Fred, but its only out of fear.

#28 - Posted by: Cicero on January 10, 2008 07:20 PM

I was hoping John McCain would endorse Thompson, but I guess that's looking kind of iffy now...

#29 - Posted by: Jack of Clubs on January 10, 2008 07:39 PM

I won't say anything about you mentioning the last time you talked to Fred if you won't abuse me for always mentioning when I met Fred (19 November 2007, Jackson, MS, the man is huge, I'd be scared not to vote for him, even if I didn't think he was the greatest thing to hit the political scene since the birth of Reagan).

I like the "Fred Thompson for Fred Thompson" idea.

#30 - Posted by: Joseph on January 10, 2008 07:40 PM

"...who the big endorsement for Fred Thompson tomorrow is going to be."

Well, I would think that this would be obvious, but the "big endorsement" can be none other than a FrankJ. endorsement.

"FrankJ. Every bit as kickass as Jack Bauer and twice the kung-fu power as Chuck Norris."

[True, but my endorsement was publicized weeks ago. -Ed.]

#31 - Posted by: azlibertarian on January 10, 2008 07:43 PM

I don't know, but he needs the solid endorsement of at least a majority of South Carolina Republicans.

#32 - Posted by: Jimmy on January 10, 2008 08:07 PM

"Are you guys going to get annoyed if any time in the future I mention the name "Fred Thompson" I add "who I was just talking to the other day"?

No, bring it on. It's got a cool Bizarro-Anti-Waffles "I served in.." thing going.

#33 - Posted by: innominatus on January 10, 2008 08:17 PM

Dummies - you know who its going to be...

BRUCE WILLIS!

#34 - Posted by: ecs on January 10, 2008 08:19 PM

Kerrcarto -- that's the best idea I've heard all freaking week. Let's get on that, Fred.

#36 - Posted by: ecs on January 10, 2008 08:49 PM

I know who is going to endorse him...The NRA...and Rolling Thunder!!!

#37 - Posted by: charmingtail on January 10, 2008 08:50 PM

The NRA (I as a lifetime memeber...) is set to endorse. Glenn Beck is looking at Fred real close...he is a life memeber too of the NRA. The endorsement of the NRA is a big money boost for any candidate!! The National Right to Life endorsed Fred. Look out "Rudy Paul McRomabee" the real Man is in the House!!!

#38 - Posted by: charmingtail on January 10, 2008 08:56 PM

I think Jack Bauer will endorse him. Either that or Cave Troll will give him a de facto endorsement by smashing the other Republicans.

#39 - Posted by: Andrew on January 10, 2008 08:59 PM

I think the NRA will endorse from the sounds of it. I give Cave Troll a nod for second and the forces of good a solid third.

#40 - Posted by: on January 11, 2008 12:46 AM

I also believe he will get an endorsement from the Co-op Association of Nuclear Kittens Learning English---better known as CANKLE.

#41 - Posted by: Backofdabunny on January 11, 2008 12:51 AM

I heard Fred is getting the endorsement of Ronald Reagan, General Patton, General MacArthur, all four of the ninja turtles, and john wayne...they are all suppose to meet tomorrow and play a round of golf.

#42 - Posted by: Taymacjack on January 11, 2008 02:03 AM

Could it be Mr. Conservatism himself, the corpse of Barry Goldwater, who has spent the last 7 years spinning in his grave waiting for the Fredidency to begin?

#43 - Posted by: Goldwater Disciple on January 11, 2008 02:17 AM

Thomas Sowell already endorsed (sort of) Fred for president. That should be enough for any conservative.

2nd best endorsement would be W himself. Hell yes.

#44 - Posted by: marcin on January 11, 2008 03:27 AM

Clearly it's an Al Gore endorsement coming. Who's huger than Al?

#45 - Posted by: Pablo on January 11, 2008 06:08 AM

HUMAN EVENTS just endorsed Fred. And to their credit, this obviously happened before the debate.

#46 - Posted by: Sandra on January 11, 2008 07:48 AM

Who knows, perhaps it will be Margaret Thatcher? Paul Harvey? Bill Richardson? Ron Paul?

What if it were a large number of conservative elected officials - would that be big?

What if it really were Aquaman???
