A reader put this in the comments: Dana Carvey's impression of Fred Thompson. A little mean but funny.

I saw him (Dana Carvey) speak at an Oracle conference a few years ago. He was very funny. Wet your pants from laughing too hard funny.

He won't be very funny when Fred Thompson stuffs his head up his ass!

Highlights of some of the comments left on YouTube:

Fred Thompson, the BushCo, Inc. Assclown from Hell

Fred Thompson deserves to be laughed at. He's just some tobacco lobbyist trying to run for president. Whateva!

LOL. The best was when Dana Carvey bursted into laughter the minute Leno said Fred Thompson's name. I think that's the reaction Thompson is getting in the general public. He seems like a folksy Dick Cheney type and who would vote for Dick Cheney especially a loserish folksy one? Hardly anyone would.

I liked both the Fred Thompson and Rudy Giuliani impressions, but this one is actually subtly devastating to Thompson.

Fred Thompson does do that with his arms. Hah!

"Whateva!"? I really hope that person doesn't plan on voting.

and lol @ "subtly devastating".

His laugh at the mention of Fred's name was too forced. He was trying too hard to pass Fred off as no threat. In reality, Democrats know that he'll peel off so many of the Southern conservative Democrats (I know very few liberal Southern Democrats), so people like Carvey are scared to death that Fred will get the nomination.

For those of us old enough to recall the Reagan years, the media laughed and laughed at him, and dismissed everything he said as either quaint nostalgia or advanced senility. Not that I'm saying Fred is Ronald's reincarnation, but he is the best in the field. That's nervous laughter.

Carvey better watch out or Fred might "mistake" him for a hippie.

I remember him- thought he might be easy to forget, when you consider that his last acting job (acc to IMDB) was over 5 year ago, and only the 63rd-best movie of 2002, just under "Blue Crush."

With any luck, Fred! will stuff him back into the 1990's time capsule with Bill and Hillary and make sure the cover is more securely fastened this time...

Windbag...appropriate.

Yehhhhhh. Nervous laughter. I think Carvey actually shat himself after the show just thinking about Ol' Freddy wacking him with his walker.

Dana who? Never heard of him.

Is he famous?

#8 - Posted by: on January 11, 2008 09:11 PM

May Fred have mercy on you...

Carvey is a gifted mimic and funny as hell, but that didn't sound at all like Fred.

Needs work, Dana.

#12 - Posted by: OregonMuse on January 12, 2008 01:43 PM

I can't believe he'd show his face again after "Master of Disguise"...

#13 - Posted by: bunkerboy on January 12, 2008 04:48 PM

Wow, that was probably the lamest impression I've ever seen. Not even mildly amusing.

#14 - Posted by: macblanegirl on January 13, 2008 07:44 PM

Better keep this video. It might be the last footage of Carvey alive.

#15 - Posted by: Phelps on January 14, 2008 04:13 PM

Surprised he didn't pull out the old "turtle, turtle" routine again. The only time he was funny was when he was Choppin broccoli.
