Liberal Fascism
Posted by Frank J. at 11:59 AM | View blog reactions | Comments (16)
Jonah Goldberg has finally come out with his book Liberal Fascism, and it seems to have upset liberals. Now, anyone who has spent time with liberals, especially on a college campus or read their writing on the Daily Kos or the HuffPo, knows that liberals are ginormous fascists. You'd think liberals would recognize the fact and react to Goldberg's book calling them fascists with, "Yeah, that's pretty much true." Instead, they've been lashing out with impotent rage, redirecting their anger of their own fascism at Goldberg's book. Amazon.com has even had to delete the excessive one star reviews since they were obviously just based on the title and not from people who actually read the book.

Anyway, I haven't gotten my copy yet so I can't recommended it unequivocally (and I totally didn't have to browbeat Jonah Goldberg into sending me a free one), but I should mention that it will eligible for the New York Times bestseller list in about two weeks and it would be pretty awesome to have the phrase "Liberal Fascism" at the top of that list. The book is doing pretty well on Amazon right now, so keep your fingers crossed.

BTW, NR has a blog just for keeping track of reactions to the book.

oohhh, that is prime. can someone put that little mustache on a picture of hillary and replace the smiley face on that cover?

that would turn the key for the governmental 7th grader, Obama, to share the ticket with God's oak of justice, Fred.

I heard him being interviewed this morning, and the concept seemed pretty shakey to me. He seemed to be playing fast and loose with the terminology and their application to fascist and classical and modern liberal movements. I'll have to page through it at B&N before deciding whether it is worth the 20 bucks. The interviewer had no real appreciation of the history of modern political movements, so perhaps that was why the interview was sub-par.

The Liberals should try to get the book banned.

That will be a great way to show that they aren't Fascists.

I think that, as a show of protest, they should keep track of anyone who buys that book.

If it's only half as good as Treason by Coulter, then it'll be worth a read. Heck, just the reaction the title is getting makes it worth it.

Fair enough, Cadet, but (just from the introduction), Goldberg defines how he's going to use the terms that get used.

He seems to recognize that one of the chief problems here is the lexicon - which is going to be the cause of a lot of misinterpretation, whether his thesis is valid or not.

Oh please oh please God, let the Canadian "Human Rights Commission" kangaroo "court" system pick up on this! Liberal fascists trying to ban "Liberal Fascism" would be too too perfect.

Isn't "liberal fascism" rather redundant, Frank? Like "dumb liberal", or "insane liberal", or "monkey-faced liberal", I thought "fascist liberal" was already included in the term "liberal" itself.

I received my copy over the weekend and started reading- worth the money so far. Goldberg gave a decent overview on Dennis Miiler's radio show recently, which was available as part of Miller's podcast selections in iTunes.

Go ahead and buy a copy. Worse comes to worse, if you don't like it, throw it at a hippee (it's a hardcover), or slip it under the door at Starbucks and watch them all jump through the windows to escape...

there is an excerpted article in the latest issue of NR and it is excellent. Enough to convince me to buy the book. He makes some excellent points.

The cover is not really a fair characterization...

I know a number of liberals that would make Hitler look sane. (or at least have plenty of excuses for his behavior...)

Doesn't the cover just about exemplify Leftism? The politicians keep promising everything under the moon, and all their followers see are super happy-happy saviors, saving them from the ebil non-Leftists. The Leftists make themselves to be the ONLY HOPE FOR MANKIND, living off the fear of people. The illusion of hope is the saddest thing in the world.

On a happier note, I WANT that cover as a poster.

Aw . . . no lashing out with tiny fists of impotent rage? I LOVE that line! :-p

I saw Jonah's presentation at the Heritage Foundation on CSPAN this weekend and can say that he really makes his case well. I'm looking forward to reading his book.

I don't want to spoil the ending.....but liberals are barking moon bats who will want this book banned to prove that they aren't fascists.

Just wait for the ad hominem attacks against Goldberg to begin in earnest, especially when that's the only recourse they'll have.

Don't be surprised when Jewish slurs suddenly become free & fair speech amongst the left.

Enjoy yourselves, because when Hillary is elected you shall all be sent to a regional "facility" and all such books shall be burned...
