Where's Ron Paul?
Posted by Frank J. at 11:09 AM | View blog reactions | Comments (51)

So are the Ronulans all dead now, their might felled by common earth bacteria? Just seems like we haven't heard from them in a while.

51 Responses To "Where's Ron Paul?"

If a Ronulan fell down in the forest, would anyone care? Would it make a sound?

Troll bait?

#2 - Posted by: on February 7, 2008 11:19 AM

The Ronulans are gone and you're COMPLAINING? What is wrong with you, man?

#3 - Posted by: Vanguard1219 on February 7, 2008 11:20 AM

Frank misses the little fuzzies.

Hey fellas...no one has died!

Mitt Romney. Presidential candidate, or time-traveling android?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zz2xwTNTUNU&feature=user

The Romneybot looks like what our future robot overlords imagine we humans want in a president after researching hours of "The West Wing."

Obviously Frank is feeling masochistic (to himself) and sadistic to ME today. What the hell is wrong with you? Are you feeling alright? (obviously not)I mean what did the RP trolls really bring to the table entertainment wise? Ok, in the spirit of bringing Frank back to his good sense I'll do my best impression of an RP Troll.

First, I'll start with the obligatory RON PAUL! (to be correct I should yell that three times in a row)

Next ... mumble, mumble mumble.... CONSTITUTION!

Then of course theres the GOLD STANDARD & PRINTING TOO MUCH MONEY!

Finally, CONSPIRACY! ISREAL! IRAQ! CORPORATE CONTROL!

OOPS! I forgot.... ASSASINATION PLOT!

RON PAUL rlz!

Don't worry - Nate will be around any minute now.

#7 - Posted by: cptnmoroni on February 7, 2008 11:38 AM

I actually met a Ronulan in real life. He goes to my church, and on Super Bowl Sunday we had about a four-hour conversation. Believe it or not, he's actually pretty sane. Minus Paul's foreign policy beliefs (isolationism never works!), his ideas aren't any more wacky than the current slew of presidential hopefuls' pet projects.

Not, of course, that I'm a Ronulan (teh Fred! is still the best), but I think you're a little too harsh - only on the internets are the Paulbots this crazy.

#8 - Posted by: Abigail on February 7, 2008 11:39 AM

Terrible - you forgot the part about "warmongering!" and "Last Best Hope for America!!1!!11!" ad nauseum. And you didn't get the high-pitched, whiny voice right, either. Just Terrible, Troy.

#9 - Posted by: Jimmy on February 7, 2008 11:43 AM

Here in Arizona, do you know who received less votes than the candidates who already dropped from the race?

Ronpaul! (DOCTOR Ronpaul, if you're nasty.)

#10 - Posted by: Exurban Jon on February 7, 2008 11:48 AM

What's the first thing that comes to mind when you here this? I'm still in Politics/101 on this stuff. One friend says it's RP; another McCain. Romney? .......probably, Fred is the one it's not.

i was warned to try to watch it before it's pulled from YouTube......

RON PAUL STILL RAISING BIG $$$$ AND HAS BIG MO! ALREADY HAS 42 DELEGATES. SOON WILL BE MANY MANY MOARRRRR!!

Ron Paul National Delegate Count Now 42 or More (2/6/08)

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

February 6, 2008

ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA – With the results of many of the “Super Tuesday” primaries and caucuses now finalized, the Ron Paul campaign is now projecting that it has at least 42 delegates to the national convention secured.

While much of the focus in yesterday’s Super Tuesday contests focused on preference poll numbers, Ron Paul caucus-goers were focused on securing delegates to the national convention. With dedicated supporters and an organization focused purely on securing delegates, the campaign has secured more delegates to the national convention in Minneapolis-St. Paul than caucus straw polls might otherwise suggest.

According to campaign projections, a minimum of 24 delegates were won in yesterday’s contests. When added to projected delegates coming from strong showings in Iowa (4), Nevada (8), Louisiana (3) and Maine (3), that brings the total delegate count to 42 delegates or more.

“Our goal has always been to walk into the national GOP convention with as many delegates as possible,” said Ron Paul 2008 campaign manager Lew Moore. “The number of delegates we won yesterday could very well be the difference in a Convention where no one has a first-ballot majority. With Dr. Paul’s home state of Texas coming up, we feel we can enter the convention with a substantial number of delegates.”

In an agreement first reported by West Virginia television station WSAZ, three Ron Paul delegates were secured through an agreement with the Mike Huckabee campaign at the West Virginia state convention early Tuesday. Ron Paul delegates to the state convention swung their sizable support to Huckabee – putting Huckabee over the top – in exchange for the delegates.

According to campaign projections from last night’s results at least 3 delegates were won in Alaska, 5 delegates were won in North Dakota, 9 delegates were won in Minnesota, and 4 delegates were won in Colorado.

Additionally the results of the Louisiana Caucus may still change in favor of Ron Paul, where an ongoing legal challenge may result in most of that state’s delegates going towards Ron Paul after state GOP officials violated their own rules to improperly put delegates from other campaigns on the ballots.

My sincere apologies Jimmy but that was the best I could do. You see I have this unfortunate mental condition that has a tendency to place a barrier in regards to retaining "crazy talk" in my mental hard drive. This is a result of my once being employed at a "Mental Health Care Facility" where I heard sooo much crazy stuff, that I just block it out. I think its a self defense mechanism to avoid being "infected." With that said I am concerned that you have retained so much ....

RON PAUL RLZ! (shit! I think I caught something)

Mumble, mumble, mumble, NEW WORLD ORDER! RIFCHIP!

AMERO!

#17 - Posted by: TerribleTroy on February 7, 2008 12:15 PM

I think Dr. Paul's gonna need a bigger blimp for 2012.

I sure hope so Exurban Jon. The current blimp had to go back home. It was probably the greatest campaign idea ever in U.S. history. It's pretty sad to see it go. :-( Now I'm going to focus on spreading the message about global warming and all of the dangers associated with it. For example, Florida may become covered with water and the Northwest could turn into a big desert!

Nevertheless, Terrible, you're probably better at it than the actual trolls. This is disconcerting, but not surprising. And the voice thing, you're forgiven for that because it doesn't project well in this medium. Have you considered that your Coocoo's Nest filter has come loose? Check and replace as necessary.

Regarding retention of crazy stuff, I'm working on trying to reduce the number of brain cells devoted to what people say. Having an audiographic memory and all is a real problem. In the last few years, the only thing that works is being attacked by conservatives on a regular basis. I have about six hours to go before my next attack and I'm looking forward to it.

#19 - Posted by: Jimmy on February 7, 2008 12:29 PM

When a weak, submissive animal is mercilessly stomped repeatedly, at some point it must sulk back to its hidey-hole to lick its festering wounds.

Ron Paul and his kooky clan are catching their second wind, hoping that willie nelson will show up to play them a song or two, and share his "medicinal marijuana."

#20 - Posted by: everydayjoe on February 7, 2008 12:50 PM

The ronulans weren't defeated by common earth bacteria, they were defeated by common sense.

RP actually beat Nehemiah Scuddabee 3 to 2 in my precinct caucus. The ronulans really stood out. You could see everyone else trying to edge away from them.

#21 - Posted by: George on February 7, 2008 01:00 PM

So what happened to Fred Thompson? Oh that's right he was a marginal candidate that gave us McCain.

Thanks to all Fred supporters that we now have a choice between liberal Obama and liberal McCain. Fucking great.

#22 - Posted by: Nelson on February 7, 2008 01:03 PM

Thanks to all Mitt supporters for making us believe that he's a real conservative.

#23 - Posted by: Vote crotchety old bastard! on February 7, 2008 01:08 PM

You know, some RP supporters may take it a bit far, much like fans of any famous personality, but is it really necessary to paint everyone with the crazy brush?

Seriously, can't we discuss the issues like rational people? Just because an issue is unfamiliar, or doesn't seem to hit you, is it necessary to ridicule it?

Let's be adults and discuss the issues. Let's all just vote for the person who best exemplifies our ideals. Frank, you should write in Fred if he really means that much to you. Many of us who support Dr. Paul will be writing his name in come the general election.

Although I might be swayed by a Huck/Paul ticket.

#24 - Posted by: knight_308 on February 7, 2008 01:14 PM

Well, Mitt is supposed to announce he is to suspend or drop out of the race........

Frank J - i am dead serious. i will vote for you. please run. i hope your wife will make a fabulous first lady.

#25 - Posted by: Adverb on February 7, 2008 01:14 PM

I thought I saw a story in the paper a few days ago that the Ronulans, after having castrated themselves, put on purple jogging suits and Nike sneakers, and committed mass-suicide after seeing UFO with an alien waving at them.

Turns out it was just the Hillicopter.

#26 - Posted by: on February 7, 2008 01:27 PM

Nate,
In regards to comment #18.
There is already a huge desert in the NW. I live in it. It is supposed to be here and is quite lovely.
Some geography lessons may be in order.

#27 - Posted by: Nylecoj on February 7, 2008 02:17 PM

Yeah, Nylecoj, record snowpack in the Cascades, three back-to-back incredibly wet winters on the west side, -70 F in Alaska yesterday, the global warming warnings are just huge, aren't they? This morning, all three major passes in Washington State were closed due to avalanche danger / control during blizzard conditions with 100mph wind gusts. You're lucky to live in that beautiful, east-side desert instead of in webfoot country like me (WW).

#28 - Posted by: Jimmy on February 7, 2008 02:28 PM

Nate:

I grew up in Wyoming and the whole thing is just a huge, snow-covered, barren, quasi-lifeless desert where the deer and the antelope play. (Although not for long - we kill Bambi's relatives every chance we get - venison makes the best jerky.) Please define "Northwest".

#29 - Posted by: cptnmoroni on February 7, 2008 02:37 PM

Who the hell is "Ron Paul"?

#30 - Posted by: AlanABQ on February 7, 2008 02:53 PM

not a ronulan, but the biggest problem I have with him/them, is their unworkable foreign policy and the 9/11 conspiracy crap. It kind of sucks being registered as a Libertarian and not having a candidate you can support. I have gone with the Big R tha last two presidential elections. Bush has been a big letdown in my estimation. I had hoped we would really pour on the shock and awe so that we could have Iraq and the extended ME well in hand. Political correctness has hamstrung us again. It will only get worse under any of the remaining candidates. I don't think Mac will put us in the plus column in the ME. He is too much of a hothead to institute a rational approach to defeating radical Islam. We are supremely hosed now that even the stormin' mormon has dropped out.

#31 - Posted by: echo5a on February 7, 2008 03:01 PM

I'll echo that. Problem is, echo5a, you're a classical "Republican."

#32 - Posted by: Jimmy on February 7, 2008 03:20 PM

Jimmy,
Re #28 The passes are closed again today? Geez, it has been crazy. I am so glad that I haven't had to go over there lately. On the other hand neither has my sister been able to come over here. Last time there was this much snow my side of the state was a lake come spring. :)
Re#31,
The Libertarian nominating convention is I believe next weekend, I hadn't heard any big names coming out if it yet but maybe if you are going to vote third party there will be someone reasonable.

#33 - Posted by: Nylecoj on February 7, 2008 03:23 PM

Sweet. Go Ron Paul

After the smoke cleared at the Conservative Political Action Conference – the public withdrawal of Mitt Romney from the Republican presidential race, and the attempt of John McCain to make friends with the party’s staunchest conservatives – a conservative crowd-pleaser stepped forward .

Ron Paul, the Republican representative from Texas.

Paul was playing on the frustrations in this hall, with many voicing worries about McCain, the all-but annointed nominee.

Now the party has an apparent candidate who is a friend of Sen. Russ Feingold – on campaign finance reform – Paul said. And now the party has an apparent candidate who is a friend of Ted Kennedy – on immigration – Paul said.

He raised cheers in the hall – perhaps the first genuine cheers of the day.

“If you think we can lead this country back to conservative principles… you have another thing coming, because it’s not going to happen,’’ Paul said.

#45 - Posted by: Nate on February 7, 2008 11:05 PM

Who's this Ron Paul character, Nathan? Is he like that guy in the Wendy's commercials?

#46 - Posted by: AlanABQ on February 8, 2008 04:30 AM

Nate, if that were the only side of Ron Paul, I daresay he would be more palatable. Unfortunately he has several others: the ostritch foreign policy, the devolving of all government and national defense to the tribal level, and something that appears to be the troubled ghost of Henry Cabot Lodge.

#47 - Posted by: nightfly on February 8, 2008 12:22 PM

Don't you think Ron Paul kind of looks like the guy from "My Favorite Martian".

#48 - Posted by: Robert on February 8, 2008 06:11 PM

Someone needs to inform 2forpaul, that most of us in Texas think RP is a kook. The guy might win his own district because of morbid curiosity, but no more. Sorry 2fp, RP will not get enough delegates to make any difference whatsoever. None, zip, nada.

#49 - Posted by: Skul on February 8, 2008 07:31 PM

#48- Robert

I had stated before that he looked like a Sleestack in a bad toupee, but I think you just nailed it. The biggest difference between those two characters is that Ray Walston ("Uncle Martin") only pretended to be a kooky alien...
