Hmm, that's odd. I'm far from a troll, but I don't know what RKBA is. Anyone care to explain in idiotic-commentor's terms? #1 - Posted by: Charon Blackpowder on February 17, 2008 10:59 AMNOPE!
(Doing my part in maintaining the daily troll standard) #2 - Posted by: TerribleTroy on February 17, 2008 11:14 AMRight to keep and bear arms. #3 - Posted by: crazyjetguy on February 17, 2008 11:29 AMHow about the nut jobs in California who want to pass a bill to force the schools to teach "Climate Change" AKA Global Warming to our children? As if they weren't growing enough liberal extremists in that state already.... man! #4 - Posted by: Amer-I-Can on February 17, 2008 11:41 AM
Congress should investigate - The secret ingredient on the "Iron Chef" TV show isn't really secret! #5 - Posted by: Owen on February 17, 2008 12:05 PM# 5, beautiful idea. Congress should waist time investigating why trolls all seem to have a third grade education. #6 - Posted by: Marvin on February 17, 2008 12:15 PMRE: RKBA... In the aftermath of the latest local mass murder (last week's was 6 women shopping for clothing at a local strip mall. This week's was a local University), hizzzonah Mayor Daley is joining Jessee Jackson and hitting the stump to ban guns once again. Here's my thought. PREVENT MASS MURDER - BAN SOCIOLOGY STUDENTS. #7 - Posted by: dm60462 on February 17, 2008 12:18 PMWow. That was awful yesterday that there was a closed, knotted thread with no comments. No topic. Nothing. It made me imagine what it would be like to be locked in a padded room strapped to a chair, wearing a straight-jacket and your lips had been tightly sewn together by an evil cruel doctor. Can you imagine that? You couldn't even yell for help if you wanted to ... and you would want too... because that evil doctor might come back and you have no idea wtf he is going to do next time!!! #8 - Posted by: Nate on February 17, 2008 12:20 PMThe right to keep and bear arms is what proves America has a more advanced understanding of human rights than Europe. Compared to us they're like quaint old monarchists. #9 - Posted by: George guy on February 17, 2008 12:30 PMMy favorite news story - The Huffington post has it that Edwards thinks Obama is "kind of a pussy"! Great one, sorry, but my html isn't up to speed to do the link thing. Somehow, Nate, I imagine that you are some kind of scary evil monkey in disguise. For your symptoms, we could check your head for knots or just let that wtf-specialist doctor examine it. He called, btw. He's quite concerned. He recommends you get bed rest in a straight jacket. #12 - Posted by: Jimmy on February 17, 2008 12:36 PMJimmy - no doctor needed. Just saying how it sure can be scary to be left alone with your own thoughts sometimes. I think that's why people hating being put in solitary confinement. If you aren't already crazy you will be be the time you get out. It's like nails on a chalkboard except the chalkboard is inside your head and the nails are your thoughts. #13 - Posted by: Nate on February 17, 2008 12:56 PMHere you go, Nate: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Have_No_Mouth,_and_I_Must_Scream Harlan Ellison 1966, right up your alley. #14 - Posted by: comatus on February 17, 2008 12:58 PMNate, you could use a dozen sessions in a sensory deprivation tank or a couple of deep cave expeditions. Being alone and comfortable with just your thoughts is perfectly normal and should not cause the reaction you're having. Jimmy's psych evaluations are free on Sundays, BTW. #15 - Posted by: Jimmy on February 17, 2008 01:07 PMI would never go spelunking. There are creatures down there with no eyes and narrow tunnels that you could get stuck in forever. I agree it is ok with your own thoughts for a little bit but not for a long time and not if your mouth is sewn shut or if you are transformed into a jelly that has no mouth by a computer like in the Harlan story. #16 - Posted by: Nate on February 17, 2008 01:11 PMBeware Nate, you might find Manbearpig in a cave. I'm super serial. #17 - Posted by: TheProphet on February 17, 2008 01:24 PMI found the congressional hearings and its coverage by the MSM to be a huge waste of time on an issue that has zero relevance in the political world. I personally dont giva eff if professional atheletes use performance enhancing substances. I look at professional sports as just another form of entertainment, its relevance in my world is equal to that of an episode of the Simpsons or the latest slasher movie in the theaters. The athletes (like actors) ae not role models or heros, the are people that play a GAME to provide entertainment. Thier collective contribution to society is meager at best. #18 - Posted by: TerribleTroy on February 17, 2008 01:41 PMNate..... its time for your meds. #19 - Posted by: TerribleTroy on February 17, 2008 01:43 PMYeah, Terrible, and I'm still trying to figure out why we keep voting to build billion dollar stadiums when our bridges, highways and waterfronts are falling apart. Guess the big boys figure we're all idiots (and apparently, we are!) and need our constant dose of "sports" to keep us happy and paying taxes for this $hit. I refuse to set foot in ANY publicly funded sports stadium. /rant #20 - Posted by: Jimmy on February 17, 2008 01:55 PMOur troops, firepeeps, rescuepeeps, scientists, inventors, disease doctors, astronauts etc are the heroes not Kobe Bryant, Clemens, LeBron James are the other sports clowns. Sports is just bread and circus to distract the stupids so the crooked politicians and lobbyists can make some money. Obama's no hero either. He bothers me much. Family peeps kind of heroes too. Many women are heroes too especially when terrible bad men leave them all by themselves and they so super tough that they raise a family all on they own. Bridge flaw finders are also heroes. If you can find a flaw in a bridge and save lots of people - now that's heroic. Well, that's about all I have to say about that. #21 - Posted by: Nate on February 17, 2008 02:12 PMHa ha. Non-hero bread and circus loser sports peeps have tiny testes. #22 - Posted by: Nate on February 17, 2008 02:16 PMI'll reiterate from Friday: Anyone catch Susan Jacoby's circular arguments on Bill Moyers show last Friday night? Go ahead, read it here. It starts about a quarter way down the page. #23 - Posted by: AlanABQ on February 17, 2008 03:13 PMI tried. Couldn't finish it, Alan. Besides, every time I see the name Bill Moyers, I have to make a head call to dump a two-pounder. #24 - Posted by: Jimmy on February 17, 2008 03:22 PMNate, you could use a dozen sessions in a sensory deprivation tank or a couple of deep cave expeditions. Being alone and comfortable with just your thoughts is perfectly normal and should not cause the reaction you're having. Jimmy's psych evaluations are free on Sundays, BTW. #15 - Posted by: Jimmy on February 17, 2008 01:07 PM Jimmy, Sunny pre-Spring day here (Puget Sound, Soviet State of Washington). I find myself puttering outside and returning occasioinally to view IMAO. It's a nice combination, echo5a, AlanABQ, et al. Funny, conversing with strangers that we get to know though their writings - not bad. #26 - Posted by: Jimmy on February 17, 2008 03:30 PMJimmy, I enjoy most of the humor here, and even enjoy the occasional troll sighting, but mostly I enjoy reading the posts of people with some life experience and common sense. Every now and then it get a little randy, but people will be people ( I'd say boys will be boys but don't want to offend). Anyway I just wanted you to know I appreciated your kind words. Thanks. #27 - Posted by: seanmahair on February 17, 2008 03:44 PMseanmahair, well, thanks for the thanks! I've been pruning an apple tree for the last half hour and my winter's lack of exercise has caught up with me. Oh joy. Break time. Glad you're back. And by the way: boys WILL be boys. No possible offense there (from an older boy with lots of sisters). #28 - Posted by: Jimmy on February 17, 2008 04:13 PMOh. Some lawyers are also heroes. They help people fight crooked companies. I like those kind of John Grisham stories. In his novels people never turn into mouthless jelly. You start one of his books and you can't stop until you are done. Even if people calling begging you to do stuff. You won't cause you are all like. No, not now. I'm busy reading this really excellent book. #29 - Posted by: Nate on February 17, 2008 04:45 PMSUCK ON HUCK So, how about that surface tension? Floating boats on water is witchcraft! #31 - Posted by: Elliott on February 17, 2008 06:42 PMSeriously, the thought of sucking on Huckabee is quite gross. Smart people didn't vote for him and he isn't even going to be the Republican nominee. Can't you come up with something that is a little less outdated, #30? #32 - Posted by: Rubeus on February 17, 2008 07:11 PMYup - what this world needs is more lawyers. And burgers. Everybody likes hamburgers. #33 - Posted by: John Peden on February 17, 2008 07:20 PMWhat Im really not getting today, the whole Kosova Indepedence from Serbia thing. I am by no means an expert on the subject. but I think it could be a case study in what happens when immigrants fail to assimilate. Here's how i understand it. Serbia and Albania are seperate countries. (Serbia lies to the north) Within Serbia there is an area that has become the home to a population that identifies itself as "ethnic" Albanians. I dont know when or how the migration began (long term / short term). These same ethnic Albaninas also happen to be predominantly muslim. While being the majority in the area that they reside they are still a minority in Serbia. Im not sure why, or how it started, but apprently in the 90's they pissed off the serbian govt. Who commenced to kicking thier ass in a most heinous fashion. This angered the "civilised" nations and caused the UN to war against the Serbians. That the serbians waged a very unethical brand of warfare was well documented. Now we fast forward to years of the UN being present in the region and of coure the development of the EU. The Albanians have decided to declare secession from Serbia with the support of the UN and the EU. Serbia opposes the secession with the support of Russia. It is reported that the UN and EU will "recognize" the newly formed independant state tommorow. Here's my thing... Imagine if you will the majority population of a state ... oh I dont know... lets pick New Mexico being Hispanic. And lets further imagine, that they decide that they are going to seceed from the Union because they dont have enough representation in the US govt. Would the UN and EU "recognize" the New govt? Would the attempt at secession provoke a military response on behalf of the US govt? And would you consider the recognition by the EU and UN provocative? What message, if any, does this send to other nations and ethnic groups? What do you folks think? And I repeat, I freely admit to not being entirely up to speed on this situation. Now Im not seeing the equity in this thing. #34 - Posted by: TerribleTroy on February 17, 2008 07:55 PMJust wait before the muslim minorities in other European countries start deciding to succeed. That should be interesting #35 - Posted by: Elliott on February 17, 2008 08:20 PMSUCK ON, HUCK Just wait before the muslim minorities in other European countries start deciding to succeed. We have many also. The Detroit airport even has signs/directions in Arabic. #37 - Posted by: Nate on February 17, 2008 08:34 PMYes, but I was focusing on Europe considering the EU is recognizing the new state. #38 - Posted by: Elliott on February 17, 2008 08:40 PMYes, but I was focusing on Europe considering the EU is recognizing the new state. Well, at least Kosovo has freaky mutant double-headed eagle flags. They have that going for them. That's something unique. #39 - Posted by: Nate on February 17, 2008 08:51 PMFrankly I prefer the closed threads. Use less bandwidth. #40 - Posted by: Frank J. on February 17, 2008 10:44 PMThis comment is really for the "Saturday Closed, Knotted Thread", but since you closed the comments on that one, I'm posting it here. You can't silence the truth! AGHANISTAN - FAILURE BECOMING LIKE. AFGHANISTAN = NEW IRAQ. THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION IS LETTER US LOOSE IN AFGHAN. RIGHT WINGERS ALSO TO BLAME FOR NEVER CIRTICIZING BUSH ADMINISTRATION. YOU SUCK!! YOU ARE LETTING US LOSE AFGHNA TO TALIBAN!! 80 DEAAD TOTDAY!! WAKE UP RIGHT WING LOSERS! QUIT PRAISING BUSH ADMIN WHICH DESERVES NO SUCH PRAISE. INCOMPETENCE IS NOT WORTH PRAISE. #42 - Posted by: PeaceNinja on February 17, 2008 11:46 PM#34 I need to be up to speed on the Serbian issue as well, but don't you find it a bit funny that the United Nations is all for the dissolution of already established countries? As for New Mexico, forget it; it's almost a lost cause as far as American statehood is concerned. Bill Richardson is half Caucasian but he's "all Latino". A lot of the local convenience stores (All of the Circle-K's, in this instance) proudly display the fact that they gladly accept pesos along with US currency. They will not accept a credit card or check from an English speaking American citizen without an ID, but pesos are OK. I wonder what's next... #43 - Posted by: AlanABQ on February 18, 2008 03:48 AMNate, are you a joke? I'm not sure whether to laugh at your comments or shake my head in bewilderment. #44 - Posted by: Joseph on February 18, 2008 08:16 AMJimmy, it's nice to hear that in some parts of the country people actually venture outside this time of the year. Here in my part of "Heaven" it's going to be 9 degrees today with a 30 mile an hour wind blowing up my ass...sigh... #45 - Posted by: ussjimmycarter on February 18, 2008 08:32 AMPREVENT MASS MURDER - BAN SOCIOLOGY STUDENTS. RKBA - Yay!! SUCK ON, HUCK My, my... very original I must say. Obviously you have a very talented use of the Ctrl-V function. Too bad it seems like that's all you can do... Yes, SUCK ON, HUCK - as in, keep on sucking Huck... you're doing a great job of sucking Huck! #46 - Posted by: MJ on February 18, 2008 08:41 AM#43 - Posted by: AlanABQ on February 18, 2008 03:48 AM Hey Alan, Yeah, ussjc, when does your Spring start, April - May? You can live vicariously through me again today as I dig up a part of the garden. Sunny, high: 55 F. When I'm done, I may be dead. #48 - Posted by: Jimmy on February 18, 2008 10:48 AMI miss the Edwards Fabulous Fax; couldn't we (we == Harvey) start an Amazing Obama Fax series? We, aka Harvey, could begin with the seven recorded instances of people in the front row of the O-man's rallies fainting with an excess of joy, then being resusicated with a taste of the One Pure Water. Whaddya think, we? #49 - Posted by: The Tick on February 18, 2008 10:57 AMEcho5a- I wouldn't miss it much either. We ought to just call it what it is: North Mexico. Then turn everything below the CO/NM border into the 'Extended White Sands Missile Range'. #50 - Posted by: AlanABQ on February 18, 2008 02:05 PMOur summer happens on July 4th. Other than that it's always up hill or down hill for us... #51 - Posted by: ussjimmycarter on February 18, 2008 03:09 PMHere in Flyover country the adages is "Don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes it will change." One day last week it went down twenty degrees in an hour. I'm so jealous, jimmy. Hope you muscles aren't too sore. #52 - Posted by: seanmahair on February 18, 2008 10:08 PMWell, seanmahair, I'm partly dead tonight but the sense of humor is alive and overcompensating for all this global warming news. Jim Cantori on the Weather Channel said (regarding the major tornado storm fronts moving through the midwest in February: "That's what we expect from global warming." He didn't mention the record, 100-year snowfalls in China, or this weekend's record blizzards in Greece, or the -70F in Alaska recently. Brainwashed "Meteorology" seems to have joined ranks with junk-science Astronomy. Oh, well, I'm looking forward to planing this year. #53 - Posted by: Jimmy on February 18, 2008 10:48 PMSorry to hear you're a little tired tonight, but exercise is good for the body and spirit. Every time Al Gore starts talking about Global Warming we have another bout of snow/sleet/ice and such. I wish could convince him to stop talking about it. I'm tired of snow, we've had a record snow fall this year. Time for some of that famous global warming. Me thinks he dos't protest too much. #54 - Posted by: seanmahair on February 18, 2008 11:11 PMActually, seanmahair, I need correct myself. I meant to say "junk-science Cosmology." You're right about the exercise. It's just plain good. Gosh, I love spring. But you know, this "February thaw" happens every year in the West. Then, winter returns. Always. :-( #55 - Posted by: Jimmy on February 18, 2008 11:45 PMThen they remind me its climate change now, not global warming. Cold or hot, snow or rain, drought or flood, record low or record high, sun or clouds, its all global warming and you better well live in a thatched hut and freeze cause polar bears are dieing for your selfishness. Give me a break, if someone wanted a society control agent, you cannot beat global warming. Yet the left keeps calling us fascists and dictators. #56 - Posted by: GregVolk on February 19, 2008 02:38 AMBut it's for our own good, Greg! And how can that be wrong? If we don't act now, the earth will do... something. I'm sure that whatever it does, it'll be because we didn't limit our use of toilet paper. It's not as though climatic cycles just happen; they need Democrats to declare that climatic catastrophes happen because we don't drive hybrids. #57 - Posted by: AlanABQ on February 19, 2008 05:29 AMPost a comment
