Clinton Camp Claims Smear Over Pointy Hat Photograph
Posted by Harvey at 12:23 PM | View blog reactions | Comments (27)
"They dressed me up like this. And this isn't MY nose, it's a false one."

WASHINGTON (AP) - Hillary Clinton's campaign team yesterday accused Barack Obama's beleaguered staff of mounting a desperate dirty tricks operation by circulating a picture of her dressed in black and wearing a pointy hat, feeding into false claims of right-wing websites that she is a witch.

Aides for Obama did not deny distributing the picture but claimed it was not designed to be a smear. However, Clinton's campaign manager, Maggie Williams, described it as "the most shameful, offensive fear-mongering we've seen from either party in this election".

The picture was taken when Clinton visited the set of "The View" and was dressed by the show's hostesses in the traditional garb of a feminist elder. Internet rumors have long ascribed malevolent supernatural powers to the former First Lady, and many insist that only Clinton's status as a concubine of the Prince of Darkness could possibly explain President Bush's brief stint as a newt.

In retaliation, the Clinton campaign has released pictures of Obama dressed as Garth Brooks, in what Obama's team calls "a sleazy attempt to play on America's irrational fear of inbred hillbilly country music superstars".

Much as I fear an Obama presidency, it WILL be fun to see Hillary's striped stocking feet curl up when the house drops on her March 4th...

"Fun" isn't strong enough, bunkerboy. I would say, "mindboggingly fantastic." Thanks for the funny, Harvey.

#2 - Posted by: Jimmy on February 27, 2008 01:24 PM

I'm not sure which is funnier: that there is a photo of Hillary wearing a witch's hat, or that it took me so long to notice that she was wearing one. In the future I'll have to check her pictures more closely: how many times has she worn that hat and no one spotted it?

#3 - Posted by: Snarkrates on February 27, 2008 01:46 PM

"Clinton's status as a concubine of the Prince of Darkness"

Okay, here is the flaw in the logic, how many attractive women were evil, and therefore banished to hell? Huh? Plenty I'm sure, so wouldn't the Prince of Darkness have better options?

#4 - Posted by: AR on February 27, 2008 01:50 PM

That's the Harvey I know and get confused for FrankJ.

in the traditional garb of a feminist elder

Now that's funny.

#5 - Posted by: Veeshir on February 27, 2008 01:51 PM

Doesn't she just make Margaret Hamilton look like a sex goddess? If that thing showed up in my living room and was on fire threatening to burn down my house, AND I was dying of thirst, I wouldn't drink a bottle of beer to work up a head of piss to put it out. What's more, I've never been able to pee woth a damn if I'm aroused.

#6 - Posted by: harveytherabbit on February 27, 2008 02:10 PM

Now, now gentlemen. Just because Hitlery is the Bride of Satan, making her the concubine of our first "hillbilly" president, doesn't mean she wears a black hat.

I think that whole premiss is offensive to witches. Feminism somehow just sucks the femininity right out of a woman. Just take look at the leaders of the movement. John Travolta in drag is more feminine looking than these people. (I'd say ladies but I'm trying not to offend -real ladies or cross dressers).

#7 - Posted by: seanmahair on February 27, 2008 02:16 PM

I just read we're planning on crashing things into the moon at a high velocity to show how awesome we are. I don't see how any other topic is relevant right now. Where is the FrankJ camp on this issue??

#8 - Posted by: McCoy on February 27, 2008 02:46 PM

FrankJ has no "camp" McCoy. "Camp" implies a militaristic hegemony of mindless, suicidal followers led by a cigar-chomping, gun-toting, unhinged autocrat.

You couldn't be more wrong, because I don't think Frank chomps his cigar, or hardly ever.

So there.

Now, snarky, harveytherabbit has a good point (what's up with that name? Is that allowed?). I was slumping on my couch watching the debate last night (I didn't vommit this time) and I became fixated on her mannerisms. If you get a chance to watch YouTubes of it, do so. I noticed...

She throws her talking points at you with her face as if it were a weapon throwing bolts from a crossbow. She combines it with whiny voice inflections, snears, smiles, grimmaces, frowns and jaw thrusting. But she ALWAYS slings her entire face forward at just the precise moment corresponding to her emotional point.

Got news for you Hillary and fortunately its too late to be of any help. Men really hate that stuff.

There was a movie back in the day, with Jimmy Stewart (one of my favorites) concerning a invisible 7 ft. tall pink rabbit named Harvey. He was a pooka. A mischievous being sent to help humans at stressful times in their lives.

Cute movie, cute bunny, cute Harvey.

#11 - Posted by: seanmahair on February 27, 2008 04:25 PM

Gentlemen, let's focus on the issues. A python ate a Chihuahua (or some other sort of worthless, bitesize dog). How cool is that?

#12 - Posted by: juggernaut on February 27, 2008 04:47 PM

Somehow, I just knew Jimmy was one of your favorites, seanmahair.

#13 - Posted by: Jimmy on February 27, 2008 04:48 PM

"Hillary turned me into a newt!"

"A newt?"

(pregnant pause)

"I got better."

"BURN HER!"

#14 - Posted by: salfter on February 27, 2008 04:51 PM

Hillary turned me into a socialist crap-hole.
...

I didn't get better though.

#15 - Posted by: America circa 2020 on February 27, 2008 04:56 PM

When you look like Hellboys twin, the more masculine twin, you get to wear any hat you want to. When you are a pointy-headed liberal Hellboy looking troll thing, the options are much fewer.

#16 - Posted by: Dohtimes on February 27, 2008 04:58 PM

Well, if there's a smear on the photograph, just print out another one! Damn, that Hillary sure is a whiner....

#17 - Posted by: Master Shake on February 27, 2008 06:08 PM

This picture has been making the rounds on the Internet for months. I first saw it on Lucianne last October and used it on my Halloween ecards. What's with Dems not being able to take a joke? She should have followed Fred's 'no silly hat' rule.

#18 - Posted by: cobolpoet on February 27, 2008 07:36 PM

Cobol: block-structured language. Actually quite elegant.

#20 - Posted by: Corsair on February 27, 2008 09:56 PM

This is a spoof site. Read the top.

A picture of Hillary in Halloween costume would be
ridiculous as a smear.

Whereas the one of Obama has brought out all the worst racist to blog sites. In fact some of them got mad a McCain for criticizing the speaker before him spreading the same old false racist remarks about Obama. In many of the racist bloggers "claim" to be Clinton supporters making Clinton vs. Obama supporters hating each other (so dividing the Dem party for the coming General election--each others supporters say they will vote for McCain). Such racism obviously benefits the Republican party more so and at the same time hurting BOTH Clinton and Obama. Tho I don't think this is the doing of McCain--really I don't. It is very sad that here in America there are still KKK people who hate all other races.
We say deport the Mexican illegals but quite frankly wouldn't it be nice to deport the racists?

Notice how this story says since Obama people did not deny the story outright then they must have did it --a parody of what happened to the Clinton campaign people. Or how Maggie Williams statement is exactly the statement Obama's manager made. Those of you who watched the debate on NBC saw the Clinton and Obama smartly decided to make it a non-issue. She said in a soft voice that she really didn't have anything to do with it. Obama quickly responded with I beleive you.

Perhaps they realized the possibility of someone else trying to stir the pot.

#21 - Posted by: marina on February 27, 2008 10:43 PM

And just perhaps, marina, you underestimate Hillary Clinton's ability to convince you.

#22 - Posted by: Jimmy on February 27, 2008 11:14 PM

It is unfortunate marina that people who live by bigotry usually die by bigotry.

The rallying cry of the Obamaites is "It's our turn" and Dems and Libs alike are heard to ask "is he BLACK enough". You don't need bring in the KKK or White Seperatists today, the left is doing it all by themselves

Then there are the Clintonistas and their "vote for HER" message. As if just because she's a woman that gives her the experience, strength and integrity to do the job. No you're not voting for that, nor are you voting for her ideas and plans. You're supposed to vote for her gender.

Dr. King dreamed of a "Color Blind" America where the only real test of a persons fitness for a position was their experience, education, and integrity. The color of their skin, and dare I say it the state of their gender had no place in the determination of who was fit for a job or position.

It seems the only people who are really concerned about the color of someones skin or their gender are the people claiming others should not use that as a criteria on why NOT to vote for someone. They should make up their minds.

#14 I have a son by that name too. The only Jimmy I know of that isn't worthy of the name is Jimma' Carter and it wouldn't matter what his name is, he wouldn't be worthy of it.

#23 - Posted by: seanmahair on February 28, 2008 12:03 AM

it wouldn't matter what his name is, he wouldn't be worthy of it.

I'm gonna have to disagree with you there.
What if his name was "Fidel" or "Lenin" or say, "Dingus"?

#24 - Posted by: Veeshir on February 28, 2008 07:52 AM

Sorry, I still think he wouldn't be worthy of even those names. I can't think of a name that is applicable to him. Then again I don't swear so those words don't come to me naturally. I'm sure there are words that are appropriate but I don't want to see them, hear them or know them.

#25 - Posted by: seanmahair on February 28, 2008 09:47 AM

Okay Marina, any Mexican illegals that are also racists will be moved to the top of the deportation list just for you.

You may, as I do, find most/all racist ranting offensive, distasteful, provocative, ludicrous, etc. That however, is part of the price one pays for living in a free country.

I am frankly less concerned about a few malcontents in the hills of Idaho than I am about about people (like you?) who are willing to trample the First Amendment in the name of political correctness. We don't deport citizens.

"And what do we burn besides...?"

And speaking of

the traditional garb of feminist elders

I no long use the phrase "cursing like a sailor" because it has been made apparent that "cursing like a feminist" is more accurate in contemporary times.
