Did the Democrats Screw Up... Again?
Posted by Frank J. at 04:01 PM | View blog reactions | Comments (30)

Some polling is showing that people are already realizing that Obama is a twit when it comes to anything serious. I know its not common wisdom, but I think McCain is about the strongest candidate we could put against Obama for the general election. We have a war on, and Obama is a useless indulgence in serious times. When we finally have the two in a debate on foreign affairs, will Obama even be able to challenge McCain on anything? It would be like a freshman trying to lecture the professor.

And, despite the polling to the contrary, I think Hillary would have been a stronger candidate for the Democrats in the end... not that I can be proven right or wrong on that point.

Click here for Glenn Beck's interview to NPR yesterday. I will vote for the clown Obama before I vote for McCain, who is destructive to the conservative cause. Not everything is about party interests, if the party is betraying its own values. Better to have a useless person in the White House for a few years and cause the swing to the right, like in 1994, than to have someone who is conservative in name only.

Why would anyone think the Democratic Party would nominate anyone but a twit. Seriously here's a list of some Democrats who have run for the office of POTUS:
Gore
Hart
Kerry
Clinton
Carter
McGovern
Humphrey
Biden
Dean

Oh the list just goes on and on. It's like they are running a clearing house for TwitsRUs. Maybe they should change the name to Twitercrats and be done with it.

Hmm, what a counterintuitive post, Frank J. You've given me something to think about.

I agree with you in the sense that Hillary might have been better able to debate McCain on issues, and that Obama might have some trouble when (if) he's asked to talk about something other than Hope or Change.

But it's hard to ignore that Obama is infinitely more charming than John McCain. And you know how lefties care more about style than substance.

Although I feel your pain, I can't vote for Osama either. I'd like there to BE a United States 4 years from now. With him in charge we'll be taken over within the first 100 days.

Hey but don't worry too much, the Huckster says that once the fall out from Lobbyistgate begins, he'll be the only candidate standing at the convention. I guess God caused the NYT to publish the article, I hear some people think he works that way.

#4 - Posted by: seanmahair on February 27, 2008 04:39 PM

Never underestimate the utter cluelessness of the American people who are predisposed to voting Democrat. We are the problem. Don't you know that?

Obama will probably threaten McCain that if he doesn't just give up in certain battleground states, he'll break the old man's hip. We could also see Obama go completely 50-Cent-rapper on McCain wearing about 10 pounds of gold chains, driving an Escalade with those spinning rims, and carrying a pimp hat and cane. Now THAT would be a fun debate to watch.

#6 - Posted by: cptnmoroni on February 27, 2008 04:49 PM

mykidsmommy wants a full-swing pendulum.
seanmahair wants the country to just survive.
cptnmoroni is warning against Obama's Full Monty.

I'm really worried about McCain's foot-and-mouth disease (BSE) leading to my own fatal MDS caused by RINO-CINO syndrome compounded by my propensity for WINO attacks by conservatives.

But maybe mykidsmommy and seanmahair will BOTH get what they want and I won't have to worry.

Uh... so, you'd rather vote for a socialist and one of the most liberal members of congress than a moderate? Sometimes its better to avoid destroying America than voting against someone who shares more than 50% of your values.

#8 - Posted by: AR on February 27, 2008 05:14 PM

In the spirit of great debate, let us remember the late, great William F. Buckley.

While he seldom eschewed obfuscation, and was often pedantic, he nonetheless towered over the feckless coterie of nattering nabobs; his ratiocinative disputations stood unassailable atop the apex of intellectual discourse.

You know what makes me laugh? People who don't seem to understand that America is doomed and all we are doing now is deciding how, when and who will do it.
Our politicians have reached the stage where they shamelessly take taxpayer's money and give it away for votes. Who was it who wrote that democracies become doomed when people learn they can vote themselves bread and circuses? Well, we're there.

Only it's not really "learning" that we can vote ourselves bread and circuses, it's unlearning that we can't.

For the last 40 years, the Dems plan has seemed to be to make it so that more than half the voters don't pay taxes and then giving them the money from the rest to buy their votes.
The GOP appeared to fight that for a while (maybe they were just trying to pander to the still more than half who did pay taxes).
But now? We're at the point where the bottom 50% pay something like 4%.
Now, the GOP is in on the deal so there's not as much difference.

So yes, we're doomed. You want my advice? Get something that is the pinnacle of western civilization because then you'll be able to look back and say, "At least I owned .... before civilization fell."

Me? I have an 06 Mustang GT convertible and a new copy of a Thompson M-1 submachine gun. Next month, I'm getting a .50 Beowulf upper for my AR-15.
The last two are cool and they'll be very useful when the commies invade.

#12 - Posted by: Veeshir on February 27, 2008 05:39 PM

Sounds like a "tour de force" in your Mustang, Veeshir. Who rides shotgun?

#13 - Posted by: Jimmy on February 27, 2008 05:42 PM

The Democrats always screw up but the numbers are on their side this time whether it is Hillary (go Clinton!) or Obama (boo messiah mean Patriot Employer Act loser person). Hey, when is the last time any of you ate a Cheeze-It? I just had some and they aren't as good as I remember.

#14 - Posted by: Nate on February 27, 2008 05:49 PM

#8 - I believe that if McCain is elected, it will bring more harm to the conservative values than a socialist. He will always be a thorn in the party's side, as he has always been, and he will also take the party on the path of morphing into something it should not become. The socialist cannot bring that much harm, first, because the conservatives in the Congress will resist, and second, because the common sense Dems will also be afraid to completely withdraw from Iraq.

I did not say that I will vote for Obama, though. I cannot bring myself to do it. However, I might write in Vladimir Putin.

#15 - Posted by: mykidsmommy on February 27, 2008 05:58 PM

Ooooo, Putin. I like him better than Hillary or Obama. Can I vote for him instead? His name starts with "p" - just like puppies.

#16 - Posted by: Nate on February 27, 2008 06:12 PM

Off-topic: Nasa plans moon violence - although not quite to the extent Frank J. would like.

#17 - Posted by: Sarcasm Man on February 27, 2008 06:13 PM

#16 Will you like the flat 13% income tax, Nate? Putin also suggested privatizing part of Russian Social Security and, just recently, cutting taxes. I thought you were a bit more liberal than this.

#18 - Posted by: mykidsmommy on February 27, 2008 06:26 PM

Well, maybe mykidsmommy has a point. To wit:

John McCain Attacks Swiftboat Veterans For Truth-- Again (at http://gatewaypundit.blogspot.com/ Scroll down to read.

This is what I meant about McCain's Foot and Mouth disease. Crap, I'm REALLY pissed off again. I am sick and tired of betrayers.

Rally around McCain? Tonight, I'd rather vote for mykidsmommy for President.

Man, that is totally worth it. Let's spend millions or even billions, on the odd chance we might find some old ice. I can't see any down side to that idea.

#20 - Posted by: juggernaut on February 27, 2008 07:57 PM

I, uhm, I meant that last one as a reply to #17, yes, I was thinking of the number 17.

#21 - Posted by: juggernaut on February 27, 2008 07:59 PM

In regards to Sarcasm Mans comment on the possible Earth-on-moon violence...you'd think NASA could find a nuclear warhead that would kick up more moon dirt that weighs less than the solid 2000 kg impacter. NASA, if you're gonna send up dead weight, why not make it uranium or plutonium weight?

#22 - Posted by: James on February 27, 2008 09:41 PM

Why is everyone so concerned about the upcoming election? I really don't see the problem. I heard over two years ago that "W" was going to declare martial law and himself as dictator for life and put all the kossacks and the code pinkos in re-education camps. I am not worrying about who to vote for. I am polishing my resume' to apply to be a guard/re-educator in those new camps. Now that is employment I could really enjoy.

FrankJ:

Wow. I guess that poll makes you feel even better about going "on the record" regarding your belief that McCain will win in a landslide.

So, now will you make a bet based upon that belief?

Come on FrankJ! You are a capitalist and a Christian. You have a chance to make money for yourself or charity. How can you pass this opportunity up?

I have no life. I know I said I would quit trolling this blog and quit stalking you, but that's just because I wanted to pretend like I had an ounce of self-respect and dignity.

Face it, I don't.

I want someone to pay attention to me. Just e-mail me once.

Or call. You never call...

Oh, so you think you're too good for that! Just because that two-timing ho wife of yours says she loves and says she'll always be with you! Bull. I'm the only one who loves you Frank.

Every step you take
Every move you make
Every bond you break
Every step you take
I'll be watching you

Every single day
Every word you say
Every game you play
Every night you stay
I'll be watching you!

Oh, can't you see
You belong to me
How my poor heart aches
With every step you take

Since you've been gone, i've been lost without a trace
I dream at night I can only are your face
I look around, but it's you I can't replace
I feel so cold and I long for your embrace
I keep crying baby, baby please...

Peace,

I’m for Obama because he is for change and I hope he changes things for the future. He brings hope to our country for change and hope to the hopeless and a future full of hope is so hopeful compared with a future without hope and change! Without Obama there will be no change and no hope but with Obama there will be lots and lots of both change and hope and that makes me very hopeful!

#26 - Posted by: ussjimmycarter on February 28, 2008 08:36 AM

My wife is teetering on the verge of becoming like #1, but I think I might be able to talk her out of it. Here's the thing: I'm not convinced that once somebody like McCain gets elected, it'll be impossible to bring the party back to the right. It may even be the catalyst we need to split the party into a Conservative Party and a RINO Party, or send a bunch of the "moderates" packing in two or four years.

But if Obama gets elected, especially if he has a Democrat majority in the legislature, he a) gets to ram through socialist judges who will be on the bench for *decades* to come, b) will almost certainly raise taxes, which while "fixable" 2 or 4 years later, will drive businesses out of the country in the meantime, and c) will almost certainly institute socialist health care, which is very, very hard to repeal -- it could take decades, if it ever happens.

McCain would be moderate, which means squishy, so he probably wouldn't get much done. That means less damage to the country. He could even pick a genuinely conservative running-mate then drop dead in office -- he's ancient, after all. Obama is a ravening socialist with a silver tongue, and once you start nationalizing something, it's pretty much impossible to stop -- c.f. federal education standards, Social Security, welfare, basically all the Federal entitlement programs. That's why we can't afford even 4 years of this O-bomination.

#19 - Thanks, that is a first for me! Too bad I was not born in the US, so let's wait for my boys to grow up.

#28 - Posted by: mykidsmommy on February 28, 2008 01:15 PM

#27 - If we do not sit at home in November, go to the polls, and vote for decent conservatives in Congress, then no socialist will be successful in implementing his agenda in the next four years. I believe that the presidential election is already lost, and we need to concentrate on the House and Senate.

#29 - Posted by: mykidsmommy on February 28, 2008 01:19 PM

o'bummer is an empty suit, and mccain has a few cogs that don't mesh.

o'bummer may actually be the best choice. If he is elected, some legitimate part of the current Constitutional structure will become the real power in the government.

If mccain gets elected, he will dismantle the Constitution to create his dream world where politicians govern the masses without being questioned or (gasp!) being insulted by them.
