Earth Hour!
[a guest post from IMAO reader Jimmy] Everyone is supposed to save the planet by turning out their lights for one hour at 8 p.m. tonight. The movement is worldwide. Apparently, these people have saved the planet permanently:
Crap. I'm turning all of mine ON in celebration of 500 years of science and engineering and people like Faraday, Ohm, Maxwell, Einstein, Tesla.... Cheers, 20 Responses To "Earth Hour!"
We invite everyone throughout North America and around the world to turn off the lights for an hour starting at 8 p.m. whether at home or at work.... My advice: stay away from airports tonight. #1 - Posted by: DamnCat on March 29, 2008 06:02 PMThose N Koreans are so green. No wonder the lefties in this country love Kim Illin Jong so much. #2 - Posted by: Corsair on March 29, 2008 06:27 PMRent a few search lights and run them all night like I am. #3 - Posted by: opusrex on March 29, 2008 06:33 PMI am so green, I turn my lights off for 7 hours every night. It's a small sacrifice to make for the good of the planet. #4 - Posted by: on March 29, 2008 07:06 PMI'll turn my lights out at 8:00, but my tv's(both of them) and computer stays on!!!! For the good of the planet!!! #5 - Posted by: maytag on March 29, 2008 07:17 PMI guess the North Korean capital of Pyongyang is not saving the planet (tiny spot of light). #6 - Posted by: Jimmy on March 29, 2008 08:18 PMbwahaha I have all of my lights on in the house. More power for me, Thanks lefties! #7 - Posted by: Aaron on March 29, 2008 08:23 PM"A worldwide movement"?? You mean like Bowel Movement? Im not turning my lights off for nuthin, you know evil white people hate the dark! #8 - Posted by: TerribleTroy on March 29, 2008 08:30 PM"Men love the darkness because their deeds are evil," I am sure I read that somewhere. #9 - Posted by: Dave on March 29, 2008 08:39 PMThe faint glow of "Poofy Hair's" flashlight as he looks at a Victoria's Secret catalog by himself in the Presidential Hut... They're all a-blazin' here. Let the damn hippies sit in the dark and kumbaya themselves back to the middle ages. #11 - Posted by: dm60462 on March 29, 2008 09:34 PMYou will be happy to know, I went to work on the swing shift, and left my lights on while I was gone. It would have been better if it had been intentional... #12 - Posted by: Marvin on March 30, 2008 12:43 AMGee, how did I miss such and important and momentus occasion. Oh that's right I was killing mulocks and mining mithral. Too bad. Jimmy, great job. Look who's the big bad blooger now. #13 - Posted by: seanmahair on March 30, 2008 01:09 AMThe whole thing was an accident, seanmahair, really. But I'm happy to report that every light - and anything that would run - was on for 60 minutes (well, my table saw and various power tools weren't, but I couldn't have held them all anyway). And to complete my little rebellion, I read science blogs. (Nah, just kidding.) #14 - Posted by: Jimmy on March 30, 2008 01:18 AMAccident or not, great job. We didn't turn off anything, of course, since we didn't know, we couldn't turn everything on. I have teenagers in my house so there was plenty of electricity throbbing through the wires, what with the several TV's, computers, fridge, heater, et al. North Korea's been in the dark for decades, this should not have come as a surprise to anyone. #15 - Posted by: seanmahair on March 30, 2008 01:28 AMJust to make up for yet another leftist moronic idea that has about as much impact on "global warming" as citronella has on mosquitoes, I'm going to burn any styrofoam, rubber & plastic I'm not using near the university. Nothing seems to freak enviro-hippies out as much as the thought of those materials not being dutifully recycled, especially when they can smell it burning. #16 - Posted by: AlanABQ on March 30, 2008 02:17 AMThe way i see it, North Korea is a bastion for the entire Green Movement... I think we should forcibly "encourage" them all to move there and base their operations out of Pyongyang... Then they'll have something genuine to whine about... #17 - Posted by: RedWhiteAndTrue on March 30, 2008 10:40 AMMy favorite part of the story (in Sydney, where they kicked this thing off) was when all the greenies turned out their lights, and then went down to the beach to celebrate - with bonfires!! I haven't laughed so hard in ages. #18 - Posted by: ss396 on March 30, 2008 10:55 AMGod bless my teenage sons. My wife and I were out of town for the weekend, but they stepped up and turned on every light and TV in the house and kept them burning most of the night. I raised 'em up right! #19 - Posted by: PaleoMedic on March 30, 2008 10:35 PMIn celebration of Earth Hour I turned on every light in the house, opened every window, turned up the heat, and left my car idling in the drive way. What can I say? I'm a giver. #20 - Posted by: Frank on March 31, 2008 02:10 PMPost a comment
