What was the Founding Father's intent behind the 2nd Amendment?

To express their bitter frustration at being jobless.

Dang! all these bitter posts, Frank, your website is starting to taste like aspirin. Post something sweet, like the sweet sweet flavor of hippie punching....

Who cares what the founding fathers thought? Obama's pastor says they were all just a bunch of ignorant racists, and that's good enough for me. Elect Obama as head black guy! Obama 2008

As Sir Boofoo said, Philadelphia Freedom.

Barack Obama is either going to be elected king and remake the country in his own image, or he's going to destroy his party by showing people what it's really all about: liberal elitism manipulating marxist envy.

So, exactly how close are we to witnessing the democratic destruction of a republic?

#4 - Posted by: Jimmy on April 14, 2008 02:40 PM

The other reason is that guns sure come in handy for xenophobia and keepin' the black man down...and flame-throwers are good for burnin' heretics. Additionally, taking stuff from other people at gun-point could be considered "anti-trade".

Now, I'm bitter that the Founding Fathers were such geniuses.

...by shooting the socialists responsible.

BHO and the Hilldabeast have no problem taking things from people at gun-point. It's called taxes.

#7 - Posted by: echo5a on April 14, 2008 03:09 PM

The best reason is: So that when the government becomes too arrogant, oppressive and no longer is "of, by and for" the people...

The people will have the gats to overthrow it.

Anyone with half a brain knows that it was intended to only allow guns in the "well regulated militia" and not for bitter Jesus freaks rednecks from Apalachia Duh!
The only flaw with the "well regulated militia" argument is that it could be federalized like the Alabama National Guard like under Gov Wallace.
However regarding the armed citizenry argument things have changed and since Clinton I we haven't had any slaughtering of civilians. Just look how peacefully a republican administration can arrest 423 polygamists. The latest Texas cult compound invasion went off without a shot. Are Fundamentalist Mormons more passive than Seventh Day Adventist off-shoots or are republican FBI and ATF less trigger happy than Dems?

...to only allow guns in the "well regulated militia"???

Pardon me, I'm going to go form an "Army of one".

So that no free man should ever be denied the use of arms. Too bad we're not very free anymore. Keep your powder dry, folks, we're going to need it.

The Second Amendment is designed to teach people like Hillary and Obama their place. Methinks we need to re-emphasize the lesson.

>The only flaw with the "well regulated militia" argument is that it could be federalized like the Alabama National Guard like under Gov Wallace.

Well, that and the little thing about the 2nd amendment being found in a list of individual rights.

Now here's a mindbender: I know that, and I live on the other side of the world. How stupid ARE liberals not to have figured it out yet?!

I once saw a woodcut illustration of a white man whipping a black slave. The illustration looked like it was 200 years old but some wit had added a modern caption: "Guess which one is banned from owning firearms?". When modern politicians suggest removing our most effective means of resistance I wonder where they're hiding the whips. I doubt we'll ever have to rise up in bloody revolt against our own government. Before matters reach such a pass a swift, relatively bloodless military coup would straighten things out. Hang a few war criminals, Schedule new elections, Reafirm the constitution and return control of the country to civilian authority. Piece of Cake. They've done it twice in the last 6 years and The goobers in Washington should remember that. While that was going on in DC I'd certainly see the point of a little effective neighborhood watch activity to maintain order while the authorities were otherwise engaged. Stock up and if you have kin in military service (as many bitter, clingy people in rural, small town America do) be sure you let them know how much you appreciate them, how much you love them, and how much you trust them to do the right thing. (hint, hint.)

If you carry your gun to church, because your bitter and frustrated, you might be a redneck!
Lock and load rednecks,my powder is dry!

Ok, you be the Army of One, I'll be the Corps of One. I'm sure we can find a squid to be a Fleet of One and a zoomie to drink our beer while we're out waging war.

#16 - Posted by: echo5a on April 15, 2008 12:32 AM

And hey, you guys in the Army, Navy, and Corps of ones: while the flyboy's drinking your beer, I'll be on the front porch with a bottle of Augie Busch's finest, supervising the Mexican gardeners, reading my Bible, and clinging to a fine piece of art from Remington.

Well, a Wal-Mart knock-off made by Chinese bankers.

Isn't a bitter person clinging to a gun what we used to describe as 'gone postal?'
