I guess I'm meaner than most, since my first thought was "oh, a sequel to Titicut Follies."

The Ronulan Communes (sounds like a book title) have the wrong idea.

I always thought that a floating city would be better. That way it's legally independent and can be armed to the teeth (you know, small navy w/torpedoes, air-to-air missiles, bug guns, "lasers," etc.). And along with that, buy a geosynchronous satellite slot, get a satellite, and sell the service (the King of Tonga has two!). Oh, and international banking would be good, too, along with tourism, aquaculture and lots of boats. Just bring your money. We don't care what kind. No taxes, just business and high-tech, sunny vacations.

The down side is you have to provide your own 100-foot rogue wave insurance.

America has a nice history of this, starting with Plymouth Rock.

I hope they do well, but my guess is that a community built on the idea that you don't need a community will have some ... friction.

I take it you don't know what the Arkham Asylum is? Kinda beats out Titicut in the insane department.

Oh, I know all about Arkham, but Arkham is cooler, if you know what I mean...

(You really need to see Titicut Follies, for a real case of the creeps - it's a documentary.)

I was driving from Vegas to Carlsbad, CA last week & out in the middle of nowhere in the Mojave Desert, there is a gas station off of an exit. It's literally the only thing around. Surrounding this gas station are HUGE Ron Paul rEVOLution signs. There is also an abandoned 18-wheeler trailer with a Ron Paul for President paint job & the very large sign no longer says "whatever gas station" but Ron Paul. AND they have Ron Paul painted onto the front of the gas station.

A Ron Paul gated community... Fine, so long as the gate encompassing the entire community is at least 50' tall electrified interior fence spaced 25' from the outer 50' brick wall, which will have guard towers manned by guys wearing Lee Rockwell masks.

Oh gosh... i bet a Ronulan colony would be full of whiny losors.
