It Begins

Palin reactions go here.

UPDATE:

Man. It's like Obama is running against America herself.

Great speech, but I didn't get why she kept talking about McCain. Who cares about him?

Seriously, though, little time left to donate.

Loving it! "Bitter" comes back to bite. :)

#2 - Posted by: on September 3, 2008 10:44 PM

"I guess a small town mayor is kind of like a community organizer, only with actual responsibility." Brilliant.

#3 - Posted by: Scipio Americanus on September 3, 2008 10:45 PM

A man who only uses victory when talking about his own campaign.... nice.

#4 - Posted by: V on September 3, 2008 11:03 PM

She is kicking ass like a female Fred Thompson!!

#5 - Posted by: Chris on September 3, 2008 11:06 PM

God I hope they get elected and McCain shortly thereafter dies from heart attack. Just my opinion, I could be wrong.

-"I'm voting for Ron Paul, and I approved this message"

#6 - Posted by: anon on September 3, 2008 11:07 PM

Wow, what a firecracker. I can't wait to see her go toe-to-toe with old Slow Joe. It didn't come off as "a mile high and an inch deep." McCain better bring his A game tomorrow.

#7 - Posted by: cadet on September 3, 2008 11:07 PM

She just ate hope and crapped awesome.

#8 - Posted by: V on September 3, 2008 11:09 PM

She is pretty good at speechifying. So far she is making me like a McCain presidency.

#9 - Posted by: Derek, Lord of the Commentators on September 3, 2008 11:09 PM

Katie Couric just referred to her as the "governor of arkansas"

what the heck is mccain doing out there?

#10 - Posted by: cadet on September 3, 2008 11:13 PM

She unites men and women in politics.

As a man, she stands for me.

#11 - Posted by: Jimmy on September 3, 2008 11:19 PM

Home run!!! GOD BLESS PALIN

#12 - Posted by: Brad on September 3, 2008 11:19 PM

Loved it...she has an agressive speaking style that makes me smile.

Hope she makes good on it all as time goes on. Love her family, as well. Especially the little girl. Pure gold, she is.

#13 - Posted by: James on September 3, 2008 11:20 PM

She's really just awesome. Honestly.

Is it to early to donate to her 2012 campaign?

Actually, can we flip the ticket this year?

#14 - Posted by: Tony on September 3, 2008 11:21 PM

She pulls off tough without being bitter. I guess that is why the Dems hate her. She looks like she is genuinely happy to be there and looking forward to the challenge ahead.

#15 - Posted by: Derek, Lord of the Commentators on September 3, 2008 11:21 PM

To elaborate my earlier comment...

Hope(wish) in one and crap(shit) in another...

#16 - Posted by: V on September 3, 2008 11:27 PM

Ah! A reason to vote for President this election!

#17 - Posted by: Bob in Feenicks on September 3, 2008 11:31 PM

God help me, I just sent a donation to McCain.

After hearing Rudy and Sarah, I'm feeling a little light-headed.

#18 - Posted by: Lurkertarian on September 3, 2008 11:33 PM

It was worth the wait.
I like her.
I like her family.
I understand why McCain has been so polite to Obie.
He doesn't have to badmouth the dems when he's got Fred, Mitt, Huck, Rudy and Sarah to do it for him!
Good delivery, good message. The styrofoam Greek column line - LOL.

#16 - V. Huh?

#19 - Posted by: 4 of 7 on September 3, 2008 11:41 PM

I still wish it was Fred! not Palin, but I guess we still got an awesome VP.

#20 - Posted by: AR on September 3, 2008 11:41 PM

I think Piper just won the election for McCain.

#21 - Posted by: jonag on September 3, 2008 11:42 PM

#16 - Posted by: V on September 3, 2008 11:27 PM

See which gets filled first.

#22 - Posted by: V on September 3, 2008 11:45 PM

A donation will get me "candid" photos of our next Vice President, right, Frank? That was the assumption that I made when I donated just now, at least....

#23 - Posted by: Master Shake on September 3, 2008 11:54 PM

Ronald Regan came back... as a hot milf from Alaska, ready to chew bubble gum and kick ass.
Oops, she's all out of bubble gum.

#24 - Posted by: dick on September 3, 2008 11:54 PM

It was jelly beans, dick. That's what Reagan loved.

V needs another drink. I still don't get it.

#25 - Posted by: Jimmy on September 3, 2008 11:58 PM

I officially have a Huge Woman-Crush on Palin now! She is AWESOME!

Also, after hearing her speak, I am reminded to say to the Effemi-Demicrats about her in the immortal words of MC Hammer "U can't touch this!"

Yes, lame I know, but after so many days of "Who's the mommy of Trig, Baby Daddy, and unfit mother much less unfit candidate."

Oh, just frigging eat it you dummy dhimmi dems, Blechhhh!

Oh, and I guess someone wrote a note to self after last night and did NOT let "Old Dad" get hammered before the RNC convention since I did not hear a single "YEEEAAAARRGHHGGGG!, YEAHHHRRRRRGAAAAHHH!"

Besides myself....

Was it just me or did she make John McCain look good?

#26 - Posted by: LokiDoki on September 3, 2008 11:58 PM

Huh...where are the trolls?

They've disappeared all of a sudden...

#27 - Posted by: WAL on September 4, 2008 12:05 AM

I'm amazed at how quickly Palin was able to pull the wool over the eyes of the conservative sheep. Expectations were about as low as you could ever get and she barely met them. Her squeaky voice and sometimes too fast, sometimes too slow delivery is beyond irritating. She said nothing about major issues like abortion or getting intelligent design into schools - is she going to try to backpedal here? We've all seen the t-shirt and articles and so we know she was for the bridge to nowhere at one time - so she lied big time at least once during the speech. She called herself a tax cutter but she has raised taxes even on businesses in Alaska. I prefer honest politicians and there are clearly none in this race. We don't know where she stands on immigration and she will probably take McCain's lead and disappoint us.

It's the same old crap. The politicians pretend to be for what you want then they act all fuzzy and blurry to confuse the voters. Then when they finally get to office they rarely do anything they promised. I may still vote for these two republican politicians anyway but it won't be a happy or trusting vote. Such is life.

#28 - Posted by: SteveLP on September 4, 2008 12:05 AM
#21 - Posted by: jonag I think Piper just won the election for McCain.

I was thinking something similar: dynasty. Hell, I'd vote for any of those Palin women over Barry.

If those Palin girls are half the woman their mom is, then they're twice the man Obama is.

#29 - Posted by: DamnCat on September 4, 2008 12:06 AM

Obama campaign initial response which Fox, always going out of their way to be "fair & balanced", read to viewers: some crap about same old G.W. Bush partisan attacks... voting w/Bush 90% of the time... not wanting to take a 10% chance on change... how cheesey a response is that?? They are toast.

BTW what Obama doesn't say is that he has voted 95 percent of the time with liberal Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. That would be the same Harry Reid, who along with uberliberal House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, heads up a Democratic-led Congress with a sensational 9 percent job approval rating. Obama is part of that liberal Congressional leadership of which 91 percent of the American people disapprove. Obama votes with them 95 percent of the time. Who wants to gamble on just a 5 percent chance of change from that??

Harry Reid is an imbecile btw, and Palin called his sorry ass out.

Okay, there they are!

#31 - Posted by: WAL on September 4, 2008 12:11 AM

This woman has some FIGHT in her!! I like it. She truly sounds and looks like she means what she says. McCain did well with this one.

#32 - Posted by: A7 on September 4, 2008 12:12 AM

Just in -Awesome Sarah Palin Facts:

Global Warming doesn’t kill polar bears. Sarah Palin kills polar bears, with her teeth.

Sarah Palin knows how old the Chinese gymnasts are.

Russia sold Alaska to America because Sarah Palin would not bow to autocracy.

Alaskan wolfpacks give Sara Palin first dibs on their kills.

Sarah Palin will give birth to the man who will lead humanity’s war against the machines.

Sarah Palin drives a Zamboni to work.

Sarah Palin begins every day with a moment of silence for the political enemies buried in her yard.

We'll never know who would win a cage match between Chuck Norris and Sarah Palin because no cage ever constructed can hold her.

#33 - Posted by: compugor on September 4, 2008 12:17 AM

Huh...where are the trolls?

Settle down now little WALee we were watching the speech just like you. Palin did pretty good and she was quite catty. I think she's a little prettier than a pit bull with lipstick tho - she shouldn't put herself down like that. It was nice seeing Levi all cleaned up too - so nice!

Anyway, I doubt many people are going to vote Republican this year even if Palin's public speaking improves. This is a Democrat year! But at least Palin has made the fight more fun! Bring it GOP losers!!

#34 - Posted by: WilliamSleddFanatic! on September 4, 2008 12:18 AM

"Such is life."

Yeah SteveLP... you might wanna try it sometime. And stop taking your cues from Michael Savage. Everybody's a puppet, only Mr. Savage doesn't have to jam his hand up your ass... your head is in the way.

#35 - Posted by: RedWhiteAndTrue on September 4, 2008 12:21 AM

#28 nice try, but I think you should wait for better talking points before posting again...

#34 - Posted by: WilliamSleddFanatic! on September 4, 2008 12:18 AM

With your eloquence and Ciceronian debating techniques you have convinced me the impenetrability of your logic - the Republicans have no hope and there is nothing our side can do to win.

-

So I guess I'll vote for McCain just to piss you off...

#37 - Posted by: WAL on September 4, 2008 12:23 AM

Yeah SteveLP... you might wanna try it sometime. And stop taking your cues from Michael Savage.

Dude, he's a Moby, if you read one post of his, you've read all of them.

#38 - Posted by: WAL on September 4, 2008 12:27 AM

Sorry, the trolls have little to add here. It's our night.

But let me warn you male trolls: don't underestimate the thinking man's reaction to Palin, irrespective of party. I know you've considered it. Thinking, that is. Because you're here already!! Yay!

#39 - Posted by: Jimmy on September 4, 2008 12:27 AM

What about this "Bridge To Nowhere" stuff? Seriously.. Seriously.. No insults, please. She didn't shoot down the idea until Congress rejected it? I thought Ted Brocraw was lying until I looked it up.

I really want to trust this woman, but I suddenly have this 400 lbs. gorilla standing in my way..

#40 - Posted by: Igor on September 4, 2008 12:29 AM

You must have missed Biden's speech where he spent most of the time talking about Obama.

#41 - Posted by: on September 4, 2008 12:30 AM

"Anyway, I doubt many people are going to vote Republican this year even if Palin's public speaking improves."

Thanks for reinforcing the liberal mantra that only major metropolitan centers are important. As for the rest of the "bitter clingers," they know where the party of the little guy really is. It's a big tent... maybe we'll let yall stand in the back.

#42 - Posted by: RedWhiteAndTrue on September 4, 2008 12:31 AM

Actually, seriously, I though Palin was holding back tonight. There's more under that warrior's bonnet.

#43 - Posted by: Jimmy on September 4, 2008 12:42 AM

I can't wait for the VP debates. And I'm too excited now to even pretend to give a crap about anything the trolls said. But for the sake of national unity, I'll give it a shot:

After hearing all those GOP speeches, especially the one by Sarah Palin, now we're all totally going to vote for Obama because ... um ... becuase...

Aw screw it; I give up. I'll just tell it like it is. Obama's a moron, and no one here would ever vote for him. Nor will anyone with more than 2 brain cells to rub together.

#44 - Posted by: Ernie Loco on September 4, 2008 12:49 AM

Oh, and did anyone else notice Palin's outfit? No pantsuit for her. She showed she could be feminine AND tough (and funny, and awesome) at the same time.

Although, I suppose we're all lucky that Hillary never wears skirts. There are some cankles we just don't need to see...

#45 - Posted by: Ernie Loco on September 4, 2008 12:56 AM

Was my comment that hard to understand?

Old saying:
Wish and one hand and shit and another. See which one gets filled first.

My point

Saying she ate hope (from obama) and crapped awesome (from Palin), see which gets filled first. I thought it was pretty self explanatory.

#46 - Posted by: V on September 4, 2008 01:12 AM

It's wish in one hand, s**t in the other. See which fills up faster.

: )

#47 - Posted by: RightWingTink on September 4, 2008 01:18 AM

I'm here late....
Sarah was awesome, funny, smart, confident and what poise!

Loved the pit bull with lipstick joke.

Loved all the digs at Obama....and I don't think she ever mentioned his name...just our opponent

Being a Nevadan, love the Harry Reid digs.

And YES the guy last night with the Arhhggg Huwayaaa was driving me crazy...Did Howard Dean sneak in??

And my DH and I agree, that little Piper is quite a kid. She's very comfortable in the limelight.....during one of the speeches, she even reminded her sisters to stand up and wave. Absolutely adorable.

#48 - Posted by: PammyV on September 4, 2008 01:31 AM

#28 - SteveLP, don't be a party pooper (no pun intended)! The woman clearly rocked!

I only have one question left - when Republicans win in November, will it be 55-45 or 60-40?

#49 - Posted by: mykidsmommy on September 4, 2008 01:34 AM

You don't have to wear a pant suit, to look more serious, when every one knows you hunt big game out in the Alaskan Wilderness.

#50 - Posted by: Marvin on September 4, 2008 01:46 AM

#40 - Igor, this is not a 400-pound gorilla, it is a 30-pound monkey. Walk around it.

This woman, like Nekrasov's Russian woman, "will stop a horse at full gallop and enter a burning hut". The "non-trolls" here do not read Russian poetry, but you know this one.

#51 - Posted by: mykidsmommy on September 4, 2008 01:50 AM

#28 - SteveLP,
"I prefer honest politicians ..."

Name three.

#52 - Posted by: 4 of 7 on September 4, 2008 10:59 PM

I'm late commenting but just wanted to say, in regards to Palin and her speech, that I agree with Frank:

"Man. It's like Obama is running against America herself."

Pure AWESOME.

I can't wait until my yard sign, buttons, and bumper stickers arrive!
