I have a bracelet too! Ooh! Something shiny!

Posted on September 27, 2008 12:29 pm

This week Obama has been jabbing at McCain, saying that The One didn’t need to return to Washington to take care of the financial crisis (“call me if you need me!”) because he could “multi-task,” unlike his elderly, decrepit opponent. But when McCain was telling his bracelet story last night, maybe Barack should have used his masterful multi-tasking skills to read the bracelet on his own wrist while he listened to McCain so the cameras wouldn’t have caught that embarrassing moment.

Glad someone pointed that out – he clearly didn’t even know the name on the bracelet he was wearing.

  2. OutbackJon says:

I loved one of the comments on Malkin’s site referring to Obama as the “Wizard of Uhs”. He makes Ed Koch’s (former mayor of NY) speaking look positively smooth and flowing.

  3. Son of Bob says:

Wow, I also just realized after watching the video again…THE IDIOT READ HIS NAME WRONG!! The fallen soldier’s name is RYAN, not BRYAN!! Wow, the idiot can’t even read, letalone the fact that he could obviously care less about that soldier and his family.

The Washington Post reported in February that he received the bracelet from the soldier’s mother – so he’s been wearing it for seven months and has cared so little about it to not know the name he’s supposedly been wearing? What an utter fool.

  4. innominatus says:

Multitasking is great. But better still is PRIORITIZING! MS Windows multitasks, but who likes it when you get the @#$%^& hourglass for no apparent reason ‘cuz the stupid system thinks there is something more important than doing what I TOLD IT TO DO. Likewise with US Senators.

Oooh! The Preview Button Fairy must have snuck in and left us a present!

  5. alecj says:

This should be a commercial…..Obama showed just how completely disingenuous he is at the exact moment he used the 8th grade response…”me too” about something as meaningful as McCain’s warrior bracelet. It made me sick to see Obama trivialize it into a prop. It is completely symbolic of everything that Obama is though……if there is any way to make sure this gets lots of play— lets push it…..It made my significant other (who is politically uninvolved) think Obama looked stupid and dishonest reading the name off his bracelet after McCain told his touching story…..

Face it Son of Bob the man does not know how to read , write or think on his own. If truth be known that bracelet has been in a shoebox somewhere for the past seven months(you know he doesn’t like to wear anything patriotic) He just trotted it out for last night to make things look good. Then what did he do but screw it up!!!! That’s what we could have if we elect him. Let’s hope America is alot smarter than that!!

  7. Mark says:

That’s not the bracelet that I knew.

  8. Jimmy says:

Well, an ‘embarrassing moment’ is probably okay, SarahK.

The real question is whether he’s all things to all people, or at least has a little something for everyone, as his bracelet gambit suggests. His campaign seems to be focused on the ‘littl’ somethin’ fer everyone’ strategy.

Fact is, he has nothin’ I need and nothin’ I want.

Not only that, but it’s clear now that our Democrat Congress does NOT know how to run this government. And it’s very likely that the Republicans don’t either.

So, I’m forming the “Nothin’ I Need, Nothing I Want, And Leave Me Alone Society.” The abbreviation for that is NINNIWALMAS. You can join if you want to. The only requirement is that you NOT be your brother’s keeper (like Obama, his very words), and that you leave me alone (unless you have something to trade that I want).

How did you get your WordPress blog to display the comment avatars? I tried but only got the moderation form to show them!

  10. alecj says:

He got the name WRONG?!?!? How can that not be something that symbolizes the character or lack there of, of this guy??? If McCain had done it we would be watching a special interview with the mother of the soldier and 10 hours of coverage about the gaffe……

Im so tired of people taking this guy seriously….Obama is everything that is wrong with politicians. I dont think he has the character to be leader…..not now…..definitely not for this country……

  11. Kent says:

    “The idiot can’t even read!”
That would explain why his teleprompter shows pictures and phenetic LOLCat language. Honestly, everyone get the movie “Idiocracy” and watch the scene where the POTUS (and former professional wrestler and porn star) addresses the joint session of congress. It’s so Obama it’s frightening in the grandness of his promises and the shallowness of his capability.

  12. Annie says:

Well he couldn’t even get McCain’s name right. Last night he called him Jim, Tom and even Bob I believe. All the while McCain referred to him as Senator Obama.

    Clueless and classless

  13. RobertL says:

They both had on bracelets from the troops. Let’s be respectful of the troops including the soldier that gave a bracelet to the Democratic Senator. This post is dissing that soldier and it is extremely disrespectful and one of the worst things on the Internet I have ever read. The writer of this post should be fired. Troop bracelets should not be referred to as “oooh its shiny” Get a clue troop hating blogger!

  14. Jimmy says:

Oh, I feel a new shoe style coming on: “Clueless in Chicago”

First time here? I thought so. Have a seat.

  15. WealthyBanker says:

When Obama said looks how shiny my bracelet is wasn’t the worst part. It was when he said he would only lower taxes for the bottom 95%. F*ck the bottom 95%. I’m in the top 1% and I want to keep my wealth and my yacht. F*ck you Obama! You rot in hell b*tch.

  16. Son of Bob says:

    RobertL,

Get a clue…that’s the whole point troll. Obama shouldn’t use this soldier bracelet as a campaign prop – he should at least care enough about it to read the name on it once in seven months. If that’s too much commitment for him, then he should give it to someone who will respect it and wear it to actually respect a fallen soldier…not just because McCain’s got one.

  17. benji says:

maybe mccain should get a flag pin like obama had and learn to show some respect and patriotism. im glad they both talked bout global warming tho not specifically about saving our oceans

  18. Rockstar says:

At least Obama was finally showing some respect by wearing a flag pin and a bracelet. Now that’s change we can believe in! Let’s get him where it hurts the most and where he is the weakest – TAXES!

  19. WAL says:

maybe mccain should get a flag pin like obama had and learn to show some respect and patriotism.

McCain put his life on the line for his country.

    Obama wore a flag pin.

  20. RomneyinCharge says:

I thought they both sucked. Obama will probably win just because he managed to keep it a tie. With that we need to look towards Romney in 2012. Romney is someone soldiers can look up to and he knows how to get us out financial chaos unlike McCain-Palin. The financial mess will still be here in 2012.

  21. RomneyinCharge says:

McCain should have worn a flag pin. He looked extremely unpatriotic last night.

  22. HillaryinCharge says:

I thought they both sucked. Since Obama supporters think he’s the Messiah, anything short of that is a loss for him.

Us Democrats should have nominated Hillary. She at least has experience unlike Barack Obama – I mean, McCain spent a decade in the military and almost died for his country–how the hell can some pathetic neophyte like Obama match his patriotism against him?

One guy wore a flag pin . . . one guy was willing to give his life for his country . . . one guy wore a flag pin . . . one guy was willing to give his life for his country . . .

Oh well, here’s looking forward to Hillary in 2012.

  23. Elliott says:

You know, nobody here doubts that Romney would be a capable leader. We’re trying to support who we have to vote for though so kindly sit on it and rotate, just like lil Andy!

  24. Elliott says:

Is inCharge the new troll moniker of choice?

  25. WAL says:

“You know, nobody here doubts that Romney would be a capable leader. ”

psst, he isn’t a Romney supporter.

  26. Jimmy says:

Now, benji. You remember my admonitions, right? What have you done lately to save the oceans, hmmm?

(This is not troll feeding. benji is a student of IMAO. I think)

  27. sarahk says:

benji is a student from… dun dun dun… Chicago.

  28. benji says:

sarahk – i am not from chicago. i am in a secret place. i use proxy so you not know where i be. i dont know where the proxy is from. you are dumb if you think people use their real isp on some stupid blog. no way them do this. maybe you should go and get a clue

jimmy – to save oceans i visit conservative blogs and warn them the oceans are becoming too acidic. i am worried someday there will be no fishes. if both parties work tegether we can save our beautiful oceans on this planet. I was glad sarah palin came around on global warming. it was nice to hear. i dont think people should attack obama just cause he has a nice bracelet like mccain. it’s unfair to the soldiers and just an unfair vicious attack. being patriotic takes many forms. if you think about it rich actors in hollywood give more to the war than any of you because they pay more taxex and the taxes pay for the war. so sometimes you should just shut your mouth you know?

  29. James Bond says:

sarahk – i am not from chicago. i am in a secret place. i use proxy so you not know where i be.

    I can confirm this.

We have been on the hunt for the notorious “benji” for a long time and thus he is forced to troll the internet in secret – with a pseudonym and a proxy.

You *should not* read anything into the fact all the trolls show up here with IP addresses from Chicago, and *should* assume that they actually do have a life and aren’t just a bunch of losers who can only defend their political positions by pretending to be something they aren’t . . . as they may appear to be occasionally.

  30. WAL says:

if you think about it rich actors in hollywood give more to the war than any of you because they pay more taxex and the taxes pay for the war. so sometimes you should just shut your mouth you know?

    Wait…so if I pay a bunch in taxes, I’m not a chickenhawk?

    Cool.

I’m glad you discovered this newfound respect for the rich, but somehow I’m willing to bet it doesn’t extend much further beyond defending Hollywood actors.

(This is irrespective of the fact you’re speaking to people on this blog who actually have put their lives on the line for this country, not just wore a flag pin or a bracelet, but oh well.)

  31. sarahk says:

benji, LOL. You’re so dumb that I actually think you’re kinda cute. I’d like to keep you in my pocket as my little pet troll.

  32. Jimmy says:

dun dun dun dun DUUUUUN. LOL. (A little Phatom of the Opera there.)

So, when James Bond is done with him, benji is going to WISH he was a student of IMAO! No hiding here, benji. With all the tracing techniques on the Internet these days, you shouldn’t show up too often lest you get a 03:00 a.m. surprise.

Regarding Hollywood actors paying lots of taxes for the war: excellent. At least they’re good for something!

Some have argued that I should shut my mouth ALL of the time. So I thank you sincerely for considering me worthy of opening it SOME of the time. Nice goin’, benj! Keep those ocean acidity cards and letters comin’ in.

  33. Gasgwar says:

I don’t know what he was reading from on his wrist. It certainly wasn’t his bracelet.

  34. benji says:

sarahk whatevah u cannot keep me in your pocket cause i am real and i am too big for your pocket. it doesnt matter to me if you have hot sexy red hair i still dont have to like you cause the girls that are hot are sometimes mean too and you should not trust in them just because they look nice. i have learned this is in my life that hot girls can be mean girls and they tease you and its not nice to do. i also know some hot grils that are nice and they want to save the oceans too. this is a matter for everyone to care about it doesnt matter if you want war or not because we cant make the war without the large bodies of water to move our stealth gun ships accross. if there are not enough fish then we will die.

i dont care WAL if you think i only like rich people that act cause it is wrong. if someone says a lie about you it is best to just think to yourself hey that person is just trying to make me mad but it wont work cause i wont stoopd down wals level. maybe wal has had a bad sad life and just needs something fun to happen to cheer him up. so wal i hope you have something fun happen to you soon like maybe a party or maybe finally for once a girl will kiss him or maybe you get a nice check in the mail or maybe something good to eat. just if you eat a nice piece of fish remember that they oceans may not always have fish if they get too acidy.

  37. Gasgwar says:

I’m starting to suspect that benji is really aquaman.

Did you know Palin was the member of an Alaskan group that hates America?

You don’t know the half of it. Have you noticed you never see her and Karl Rove together? Just like you never see Lois Lane and Spiderman together!

    Think about it!

  40. WAL says:

i dont care WAL if you think i only like rich people that act cause it is wrong. if someone says a lie about you it is best to just think to yourself hey that person is just trying to make me mad but it wont work cause i wont stoopd down wals level.

Can someone translate this to English for me?

(I don’t mean that as an insult; I’m being serious. I’d reply and offer a rebuttal, but I really have no clue what was just said.)

  41. WAL says:

Did you know Palin was the member of an Alaskan group that hates America?

Palin belongs to a secret group based in the Himalayas along the borders of Tibet. It is an ancient organization that brings down civilizations when they get too decadent: Rome, Constantinople, etc.

Hopefully, we have some rich badass who fights criminals who can stop her . . .

Risin’ up, straight to the top
Obama has guts, got the glory
Went the distance, now he’s not gonna stop
Just a man and his will to survive

    Eye of the Obama!!

    Take that f***kers!!!

  45. WAL says:

Why are these guys allowed to vote?

  46. Trish says:

It’s the Chicago machine. Everybody who’s dead is allowed to vote several times, even if they’re only dead from the neck up.

  47. SweeterThanHoney says:

Just assume everyone who doesn’t agree with you is from Chicago. Yeah… that’s the ticket.

  48. Basil says:

There’s a report at NewsBusters that SGT Jopek’s family asked him to not wear the bracelet publicly.

  49. Trish says:

    Sweetie–

    I’M from Chicago.
