Political Stunt

Some are saying that McCain suspending his campaign is just a political stunt, but wouldn’t a political stunt be something more like McCain jumping eight school buses on a motorcycle to show his support of education? And then he did a flip with the motorcycle halfway through the jump and after he landed he danced the robot? I would totally vote for him if he did that.

  1. You Romney haters are a bunch of jerks! Of course it was a stunt to pick Palin compared to Romney who is a financial god compared to her lowly patheticness.

  2. Explain how Palin is possibly a better choice than Romney. You can’t do it can you because she’s not better.

  3. I thought McCain is still a senator. And is Congress still in session? If so, he has a duty to be a senator, first and foremost. So why the hell is he campaigning when he has a job to do? Same goes for Obama.

  4. He’s campaigning because he’s afraid to face Obama in a debate. You know who he had stand next to him when he made that announcement about the debates. It wasn’t Palin because he knows no one is impressed by her. STANDING NEXT TO HIM WHEN HE MADE THE ANNOUNCEMENT WAS MITT ROMNEY!!!!!!!

    I AM NOT A CRANK!!!!

  5. No, a crank would be moderately coherent. You, ma’am, are an Obamuhhh-tron. Is the Obamuhhh campaign paying you guys in crack again, or has he smoked his stash for the week already?

  6. Palin rocks. McCain is an idiot for passing on the debates. Is he smoking crack? this is a transparent political stunt, and one that is doomed to backfire. The last thing we need is for McCain to give Obama an uncontested debate in Mississippi. And is the bailout going to be such a different thing, just for the presence of McCain?

I’d take it all back if he had said he was sending Palin down to debate Obama. That’d actually be an improvement.

Since they are both running for president, their job now is to campaign. Abdicating that job is just foolish. Give Obama ammo: all we’re going to here now is “can’t he do more than one thing at a tiime” and “president’s dont’ get to call a time-out” and so on. And, of course, “what’s McCain afraid of”? And McCain is still doing other campaign stuff in his suspended campaign, basically making it look like the only campaign activity he actually wants to suspend is the debates.

I’m not feeling to love for McCain right now. I’m still voting for him (or, as I like to say, I’m voting Palin/McCain) but I’m not feeling the love. Right now, it’s like McCain is his own worst enemy.

Obama is lucky that McCain passed up the debate. Foreign policy is McCain’s strong point and Obama’s weak point. I would vote for Palin if she was by herself. That is how impressed I am of her.

  8. WTF – nobody hates Romney here. The race is what it is. I personally would have rather had Fred! or Romney, but that’s not what happened. So, I have a choice to make now and I’ve made it – McCain/Palin, not Obama/Biden.

Take the medication of your choice, calm down, and work harder for Romney NEXT time. Bitching now won’t change anything and it won’t help Romney in the future. If you continue, we’re just going to laugh at you and abuse you. Your choice.

Just trying to help you be less of a crank than you seem to be.

  9. I think a great stunt would be to pull a fuzzy bunny out of a hat during the 3rd debate. He could then have have Obama hold the fuzzy bunny but then, when the camera cuts back to Obama, the fuzzy bunny has died and McCain can then accuse Obama of hating fuzzy bunnies. Palin could then come out on stage and put on a marksmanship display by shooting the crack pipe out of Obama’s hands while she was blindfolded.

That would be a great political stunt.

  10. McCain is still an actively serving Senator in the United States Senate. He didn’t abdicate his seat. Obama is ALSO an actively (on paper anyway) serving Senator in the United States Senate. Therefore, elections notwithstanding, their primary responsibilities are to act as Senators. They didn’t lose that responsibility when they got their parties nominations. They aren’t off the hook until they either give up their seats or get elected to another office. So they should be on the Hill dealing with a very real and very present danger to our economy.

We know where both candidates stand on issues anyway. McCain because he can be fairly consistent, with a few wishy washy changes, and Obama because we can read opinion polls and know he’ll agree with whatever people say he should agree with, since he hasn’t a clue, a plan or a brain.

I’m no fan of McCain, especially considering that he has greatly turned a deaf ear to we, his constituents in Arizona. However, I applaud his commitment and responsibility to ACTUALLY DO HIS DAMNED JOB.

Obama is a punk-ass two-bit street hustler with no sense of responsibility and McCain deciding to put the election on hold to actually deal with a very real, present issue is showing Obama for the massive tool he is.

    Senators FIRST, candidates second.

  15. Seems the troll scored a big point on you and found a weakness. You obviously know Romney would be a smart choice otherwise you would not have spotlighted this comment so you could ridicule it. Making fun of something is a way to attack something and try to diminish it but it is mostly used by inferior feeble minded fools who are incapable of intelligent discourse. Apparently, the last thing the far right wants brought up is that Romney would have been a better choice than Palin. This is because they plan to run Palin in 2012 if McCain does not win. If Palin is destroyed and made to blame for losing this election then it might be the much more presidential Romney that Republican voters turn to as their choice in 2012. That is what you and the other righteys fear. It’s obvious given today’s financial crisis that Romney would have been the better choice so out of fear and the lack of a reasonable argument to the contrary you are forced to go with the “make fun of it” approach. In doing so you have exposed yourself to the world and your goals and desires now stand naked to the universe and obvious to everyone. A better tactic might have been to ignore this one completely but it is much too late for that now. Yes, Romney was the right choice and the right is now desperate to hide this fact or try and laugh it off. Good luck with that. Sincerely yours, Rub My Bean Pole.

  31. Wow Romney?? Seriously. Nobody wanted Romney. Romney would have tanked the ticket. You want to watch a V.P pick suck the air out of your campaign look at the great job Joe Biden is doing for the Obemessia.

Joe Biden can’t do a softball interview with Katie Couric without:
    1) Rewriting history- Dumb FDR story
    2) Contradicting his running mate’s position- Clean Coal
    3) Criticizing his own campaign- McCain can’t send an email add Obama ran

How is Joe going to stand up to Palin when she’s coming after him?

Face it trolls. You could have elected a candidate that at least had a resume to go on. You traded it for an empty shirt that only has hope (Change left town). You could have saved your chance by making Clinton your V.P. You screwed that on up too. This seems to be a pattern in your party.

  40. You know you can always tell a persons commitment to an ideal, theology, or dogma. When the going gets tough, the light weights says, “there’s nothing we can do about this, we need to go on focused on our narrow little agenda, because hey, we are the center of the universe.” These people can’t put aside their thirst for power, their hunger for adulation, their need for attention and approbation long enough to work for the good of those they are campaigning to lead.

If you can’t understand the seriousness of this problem Osamabama, if you won’t listen to your handlers, advisors and members of your own party who have more EXPERIENCE with the tough stuff then you do, then you are in NO WAY ready to lead anything. Maybe you should spend some time in the Senate watching the adults lead. You might pick up some clues, but with the arrogance of your “kind” (libs read this as Liberal left wing nut jobs) you won’t pick up anything but a cold.

  42. Stick around. During the primaries things got rather heated. Of course you can tell those who really support Gov. Romney by the LACK of name calling, the lack of foul language and ability to use English grammer and spell check.

Some of us on this site still believe that Romney with his business experience would have been a better pick than even Mr. McCain, who would have made a great VP. Since religious bigotry is however alive and well even among fellow “Christians” it was not to be. Now we have a crisis that needs the services of someone like Gov. Romney and if it were me I’d tell them “You got yourselves into this mess, get yourselves out.” But Romney’s a class act and if called upon he will help. Me I’m Irish, I hold a grudge and have a really long memory.

    Are you kidding?

We’re Republicans – we’re happy to eat our own.

I would vote for him if it came down to it, but I can’t imagine you ever surfed a Republican blog if you’ve never seen a candidate like Romney attacked like this before. For that matter, any negativity you see here is nothing compared to the levels at which conservatives have attacked McCain.

So are the Romnites the new Paulestinians?

You know, I’ll give this to the Paulbots–they were generally forthright in where they stood. They may have been annoying as hell, but at least there was some honor to it.

  48. I’ll give the trolls one thing — they make for entertaining comments threads!

Also, seanmahair: I think Romney would have been a decent candidate/VP (he was always my 3rd or 4th choice), but I don’t think it was religious concerns that lost it for him. That may have been a small factor, but I think the main reason he didn’t win was his attack ads against McCain and Huckabee (notice how the two guys who didn’t run attack ads against their fellow Republicans were the last two left in the primaries race?), and his lack of a “guy I’d sit down and have a beer with” factor (which McCain and Bush both have). He looked good on paper, but most people don’t vote based on what people look like on paper.

  51. Hence the problem we have right now. Most of the “guys” in Congress are people you’d sit down in a bar with, even the females. We don’t need buddies in charge of the country or our financial well being, we need adults, professionals, and dare I say it, responsible individuals.

Oh and since when is it an attack ad, to tell the truth about someone’s experience or lack there of. The only person that got attacked per se was Gov. Romney, when Huckabee and McCain joined together to force him out of the race.

And please don’t tell me religion wasn’t a factor. I was here back in the spring when all you had to do was say “mormon” and the trolls from both sides of the fence began to foam at the mouth. If it wasn’t for a few kind posters I would have left this site never to return again. I don’t judge anyone else’s religion (except when they tell me they want to kill me, then I figure all bets are off), and I stupidly expected others to grant me that same privilege. I am no longer naive. It has been a real learning experience.
