This Is the New Blog
The old blog is here. It has been abandoned because it was cumbersome and clunky. This new blog is clunky in a less cumbersome way and should hopefully load faster and crash less.
I’m going to move some of the old posts here (and maybe eventually them all), but the old site is still searchable by the Google search bar somewhere on the left sidebar.
Thanks again to Basil for all his help.
That is all for now.
UPDATE:
Exporting from MT is not working so well. It starts with the oldest posts and puts them into a text file and falls apart well before it gets to modern day. So, if you want today’s posts, you still have to go here. Tomorrow’s posts and all those thereafter will be right here.
UPDATE 2:
I forgot to check what the blog looked like in IE and Chrome and realized some script was broken on the left sidebar. I think it’s fixed now.

Just one thing – can you make the IMAO nuke the moon logo at the top and center a link to the homepage (imao.us) That makes navigating a lot easier.
[Yeah, I'll try to figure that out how to fix that soon. -Ed.]

Yay for the new faster loading blog!
September 23rd, 2008 at 10:10 pm
Yay! No more slowness! Hooray for Frank J!

As one of the first people to post on the new blog, let me just say… I hate it! It will never work! Turn back now before your course is unalterably set and IMAO sails straight into the iceberg. (the iceberg is a metaphor for DOOOOMMM!!!)
You have been warned!

What happened to all the Obama and Russian bride ads?
September 23rd, 2008 at 10:24 pm
I like it! Clickpow loading! Good choice of different server!
September 23rd, 2008 at 10:32 pm
Yes, post slug URLs! Now we just need the subscribe to comments plugin.
http://txfx.net/code/wordpress/subscribe-to-comments/
You need to fix up your padding a bit too. Things are squished to the left in the sidebars, which is especially bad in the right sidebar.

And WP AJAX edit comments. http://www.raproject.com/ajax-edit-comments-20/

Don’t people know that if you don’t have a gravatar, the terrorists win? sign up for a free account at gravatar.com. It’s linked to your email address, so when you enter your own email addy, it automatically calls the corresponding gravatar. Want to sockpuppet? Just use a different email

Oh, and your google search bar needs to be resized or removed. It’s encroaching on the center column. I should also mention I am using Firefox 3, because it may not render that way in other browsers.
September 23rd, 2008 at 10:39 pm
yeah, its a bit of a mess isn’t it
September 23rd, 2008 at 10:46 pm
Hey this looks great. How do I get me one of them avatars?
September 23rd, 2008 at 10:50 pm
Corona, look 3 comments above yours, where I specifically gave those instructions. D’oh! I’ll give the link this time
http://en.gravatar.com/
September 23rd, 2008 at 10:50 pm
Sweet! It takes less than 7 seconds to load!
September 23rd, 2008 at 10:54 pm
Not just FF. The google you mentioned and the IMAO Store logo do that to me in IE7. I know, I know, “get a real browser.” And there’s a broken script in the left frame, but the old site did that sometimes, too.
All in all, I like the changes. Much quicker. No ‘preview’ button, so I’m sure to look even stupider than usual.

No more Carl’s Jr. Stars!?!
September 23rd, 2008 at 11:05 pm
Just checking my gravatar.
September 23rd, 2008 at 11:05 pm
Well, that sucks.
September 23rd, 2008 at 11:17 pm
No more Carl’s Jr. Stars!?!
There is a WordPress Plugin for that. I’m not sure what it’s called offhand, because I have never used it, but it does exist.

So do I need to update my RSS feed?
September 23rd, 2008 at 11:21 pm
I don’t know what the above comments were talking about when they said things were out of proportion. They look all right to me (on a newly updated firefox browser, that is).
September 23rd, 2008 at 11:26 pm
The RSS link shows up when you view individual comments, but a link on the main page would help.
RSS Reader Users should edit the feed source to http://imao.us (instead of http://www.imao.com).
September 23rd, 2008 at 11:35 pm
Well, I hope that this change is for the best.
Mmmm, change…
September 23rd, 2008 at 11:47 pm
How did that become a Post? … Hmmm. a Bug .. or a Feature?
September 23rd, 2008 at 11:52 pm
Whatever the cause … IMAO may have 20 times the number of posts of Instapundit and Althouse combined!
September 23rd, 2008 at 11:54 pm
Seriously, check out the fact that each comment is treated as a front page post. Not good.
September 24th, 2008 at 12:14 am
I can’t seem to be able to leave comments.
September 24th, 2008 at 12:20 am
Headline Posting seems to only appear on RSS Feeds. Main Page appears normal. Cool feature tho’. How’ja do it?
September 24th, 2008 at 1:32 am
Yay! Instant download! Looks good in IE 7.0.
Good job FJ & Basil.

Way to goo! … WordPress is pretty good. Open source is amazing. Plugins are a viable hobby.

When selfish politicians are done bailing out mismanaged big banks with 750 billion of taxpayers money the American public will wake up one morning and realize what has been done to them. They never will forgive those that voted yes on the biggest giveaway in American history. The problem could have been solved with an organized bankruptcy of the losers in their big game of chance. But it was more profitable to the financial portfolios of many congressmen to provide a handout to rich friends in the banking business. Lets hope that this bill is rejected by conscientious servers of the public interest

Going into this blog is a morass from which we will never recover! It is a civil war and we have no business here! Go back now, FrankJ!
September 24th, 2008 at 7:01 am
Darn. The images are blocked for me here at work. I guess I’ll have to wait until I get home for teh fotofunny.
September 24th, 2008 at 9:01 am
The comment box is slightly off center at the bottom.
Great job Frank and Basil.
September 24th, 2008 at 11:50 am
Pretty sweet so far. Are you going to carry the blog entry author’s name over when anyone clicks on the comments? It seems to be MIA. Not complaining too loudly.
September 24th, 2008 at 12:53 pm
Not to complain, well actually, to complain.
What? No preview button? No html help on linking?
Does html work? I’ll find out
Hopefully it doesSeptember 24th, 2008 at 1:22 pm

September 24th, 2008 at 4:53 pm

September 24th, 2008 at 8:25 pm

But with no preview button, it could get dicey, huh, Frank?
September 25th, 2008 at 11:44 am
