Obama says take the day off to campaign for him

Barack Obama says he wants his supporters to take the day off work to campaign for him on election day:

Can you take next Tuesday off from work, join the final push, and make sure that everyone who supports Barack turns out to vote?

That got me to thinking…

If none of the Obama supporters showed up for work on November 4th, would anyone really notice?

  7. Umm let’s see- I am the Director of a well known financial industry in Boston- and if I were to take the day off, along with the top managers in my department- and numerous employees- then yes no work will be done at all…. to assume that Obama’s supporters do not have well established jobs is just absurd- most of his supporters are well educated and not as ignorant as the person who post this nonsense

Director of a well known financial firm in Boston?

That just means you won’t be there to spend your government bailout money quite so fast on luxury retreats.

  9. Sorry, smith_Mass,

Or Masshole, as the case may be.

Frankly, if it weren’t for MIT, no one would miss anything in Boston if it disappeared tomorrow. Particularly your smug inhabitants. Certainly not the bill for The Big Dig.

  10. “most of his supporters are well educated and not as ignorant as the person who post this nonsense”

The illogic is only trumped by the factual inaccuracy of that statement.

Most Obama supporters are either totally uneducated or are students, which is to say, literally uneducated. Those who are educated are as ignorant of Obama’s history as the MSM can keep them — education and ignorance being separate and often mutally exclusive quantities, of course.

  11. The level of hate for Americans coming from the right is now exceeding the threats from Bin Ladin. You people are hillarious. At the same time you support the most corupt, inept and failed adminstration and policies in US history, and you people are calling everyone else stupid? Really? Republican has failed in every measurable way. From National defense to the Economy, the enviroment, distaster preparation, Civil rights, all made worse. Not to mention the record growth of government size and government spending. EVERYTHING has been made worse by the republicans, right in front of your eyes. We all see it, and then you all call the left stupid?

You sound like a drunk driver that, after crashing into a schoolyard full of children, killing a dozen or so and then stumbling out of the car and yelling at those stupid kids for getting in the way.

A lot of you HAVE to be lieing to yourselves because it is just to hard to beleive that so many of you are really that thick, stupid and slow.

  13. Hyperbole. Great tool when you have nothing to say. The fact is, human beings are endlessly diverse, and every person believes he is correct based on his life experience. So, Drumbum, you waltz in here and bash those of us who believe differently than you do because of our life epxeriences, and yet you do nothing to logically convince us that your way is the right way. I am just as certain that my conservative/libertarian beliefs are right as you are with your (I assume) leftist/big government beliefs. Your woefully inept use of 8 year old lefty talking points tells me that you have stopped thinking and rely instead on trained monkey button-pushing response in your little, poo stained cage in Dr. Mephisto’s lab.

  15. ” and yet you do nothing to logically convince us that your way is the right way. ” I made no claims to have the answers or that My way is the right way. I simply stated that the 25 ton gorrilla in the room is that THIS way has NOT worked and no one can make a logicial argument that is has.

The economy is worse off, our world standing is worse off, our debt is worse off, our runaway gov growth is worse off, our threat from terrorist is worse off, our wasteful spenidng is worse off the list is endless. But since that damages your view of the world it must not be true. Lets call it a talking point and dismiss it as old news, after all its is so unfair to judge the republicans by what they actually do and not soley on the nonsense they claim to be about. To call the left big government really makes you look stupid. The right increased the size of Government more than any adminstration in history, it is not even close. Conservative means bigger government. You see that, yet they tell you the opposite and you do not even question it? They are telling you they think you are stupid everytime they say they are for smaller government. If you stopped to listen you can hear them laugh at you for falling for it. They say one thing and do the opposite and you want to talk about logic? So I guess the logic your not getting is, if it does not work do not keep doing it. Doing something over and over again and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity.

  16. drumbum… actually… it isn’t hate… national defense – we’re winning, economy? – was more prosperous than ever until we elected a democratic congress 2 years ago, the environment? c’mon that and disaster preparedness have been over played by the media and all those zombies and all of those naive college kids are going to join the beggars acorn has plucked from the street and try your best to seal the deal for the fate of democracy as we have known it. hopefully the real working class and those mature enough to see beyond the smoke and mirrors that have most of the youth so mesmerized will be enough to prevent a real disaster.

  20. Obama has not been forthright in telling Americans who he is, who he has been associated with, or what he will do if elected. If the media had done its job in vetting Obama from the beginning … and if 18 months ago Americans knew what they know today about Obama, he would never have made it this far. I would be willing to bet that there are still volumes that we don’t know about Obama, and even more Obama is not telling us about what he would do once elected. We also don’t know where much of his 600 million dollars in campaign contributions came from … possibly foreign nationals. Obama’s donations are literally enabling him to buy the Presidency of the United States. And then there’s Acorn, and voter fraud, which all seems to be favoring Obama. A socialistic agenda will ruin America … whose 200+ year capitalistic ideology has made us the country where everyone wants to live … even at risk of life and limb! It’s pretty obvious that McCain loves America, not just in words, but in deeds that cost him dearly. I don’t mind some changes, but changing our entire free enterprise system for socialism is NOT change I can believe in. I don’t trust Obama. I think he will say or do anything to get elected. These are just some of the reasons I’m voting for McCain/Palin on November 4th.

  21. economy? – was more prosperous than ever until we elected a democratic congress 2 years ago

now your just lieing to yourself, no one is that stupid. Absolutly nothing ( outside of Rush limbaugh or Sean Hannity) supports this in any way whatsoever. The crisis did not just happen and no one but the most avide kool ade drinker is buying that one. And the Republican congress rubberstamped every spending opportunity they had. They spent more and increased spending more than any in history. The democrats only controlled the hammer in congress, the republicans have filabusters and blocked more legislation than any in hisotry. This republican congress has been the most devistating in history. The spen spend spend and grow grow and then tell you that the Democrats are the problem? The fact do not support your nonsencicle lunatic rants.

Stop watching Fox news- it is a documented fact that it literally makes you stupid.

  24. 26howard Everything you just said could just as easily be said of any candidate, even McCain. This is the same empty attack that they would use against anyone running. “OH it is what we do not know about McCain that scares me” pure nonsense. The fact that Obama is immensely more poplar and has more support than McCain is not a reason to be afraid of him. The cries of socialist are unsupported panic from a campaign that has no honor. We can say there MIGHT be all these unknowns about anyone but what we do know is that Obama ran one of the most organized, most successful campaigns in history, while McCain has floundered about from one cheap stunt to the next. From Sarah Palin to the nonsense joe the plumber plant, John McCain has not run and honorable campaign. He looks into the camera and says things he knows are not true. You can always fear the unknown and create monsters in you head, but you really should open your eyes and judge form what we do know, not what some rightwing nut can “imagine” that “might”, “possibly”,” could”, “maybe”, “I am guessing”, “I suppose” what BS.

So far this election, every single arrest for voter fraud has been a Republican operative. Every single one, Republican. But I am sure you could imagine otherwise or suppose if maybe….

  26. Economy – the slump from the Internet Bubble bursting started under Clinton, so Bush had to fight that, then 9/11, and now the credit crisis – all started by Democratic ineptitude with Microsoft, Bin Laden, and taking bribes from Fannie and Freddie, respectively. Yet despite this our growth never went negative the whole time. Imagine that.

World Standing – we keep hearing that countries that hate us, surprise, hate us. Yet our allies who had liberal leaders now seem to have conservative ones (with the exception of Spain, who drew the wimp-card after some train bombings). Leftists worldwide will never confront their population with the fact that A) maybe if you don’t have money, you are lazy, or B) if we get money, and the keptocracy takes most of it, it’s not the fault of the kleptocracy – it’s that the rich aren’t giving enough money, or that they “stole it from you”. How this magic trick works for people who don’t work and get money from those who do yet feel like they’ve had something stolen from them is amazing. In the US they blame the rich, in third world countries they blame America or the West in general, but it’s the same lie for power and money scheme no matter who does it, Osama or Obama makes no difference. The west tolerated Clinton because he wizzed on his own country, something they dearly loved about a US president.

Debt – granted – but wars do that. Have ever since the Revolution in this country. Maybe if we backed our economy with more nuclear power and oil drilling we could do something about the real problem of trade deficit, but that wouldn’t sit well with liberals, would it?

Runaway Government growth – Typically, when democrats cut the total government expenses, it all comes out of Defense (as Clinton did, although he also trashed NASA 7 out of 8 years). They grow every other sector. Reagan and Bush 43 generally are left with the job of reconstructing those failures as military hardware is sold for scrap for pennies on the dollar or grabbed on the black market by China (as happened a LOT during Clinton). That leaves the Republicans to pay full price or more to get our ability to defend ourselves back up to speed again. Stupid, stupid, stupid on the part of Democrats. Obama has already pledged to destroy programs just reaching maturity after billions have been spent, again stupid. And you say WE waste money? And don’t get me started on the 13 TRILLION spent on a quagmire war that was already being one when someone decide to involve the US government and prolong it – the war on poverty.

Threat from Terrorism – List the attacks since 9/11 on US Soil. Yeah, didn’t think so. List the number of Al Queda dead or captured in multiple countries around the world. And oh by the way, two countries, populations totalling 50 million, who no longer have to worry about being raped and killed at their wedding by Saddam’s son, fed in a meat grinder by his police, or being unable to sing, fly a kite, or educate a woman because the Taliban says no. The world is a much more tolerant place thanks to the people who liberals hate, and a much less tolerant place because of the governments they defend.

Actually, the legal definition of insanity is the inability to distinguish right from wrong. Liberalism in its nihilistic postmodernist core is the belief that there is no difference between right and wrong. The only difference is that liberalism is insanity expressed in the first person. It constantly seeks to elevate and subsidize immorality, failure and corruption while belittling and taxing accomplishment and laughing at purity. Trying the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result is the rule for our public education system, based on liberalism. Or the war on poverty, based on liberalism. Or communism, based on liberalism.

I don’t write this so that drumbum will get a clue – I don’t see that happening. There is no fact stick big enough to pound the foolishness out of most liberals. But that doesn’t mean we should let them speak unchallenged, lest they pat themselves on the back and feel that we are the ones with no answers. They do too much patting of their backs and other manual simulations of their body parts as it is, if their attitude is any indication. All that is required for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing. All that is required for liberal propaganda to triumph is for facts to remain unspoken. I’ve known liberals to be silent after a drubbing such as this, slink away, then quote me to their buddies in private when some talking point comes up. They claim this as their own insight, as if trying to look smarter to their peers by tossing large facts amongst small minds just for the sake of a tiny personal victory to look like the wiser person. Their minds may be closed, but ideas flow both ways. They can’t stop the signal, even as they themselves forget where they heard something and pop it up unexpectedly later.

  27. Drumbum,

Long answer I have no time to get into. Arguments against liberal talking points require essays, usually, thus the high level of frustration. Short answer, nearly every one of your talking points is partially or entirely inaccurate, and I base that on puh-lenty of independent research on my own time. Again, it comes down to mindset. I ain’t changing your mind, you ain’t changin mine. So why try? Just vote your mind and let us play in the political humor blogo-dodecahedron.

And to Desert Elephant; yes, Kevin is an apt description.

  28. I agree with everyone who said that the entire picture isn’t being put out there by the mainstream media. But I think that the comments above evidences a lack of objectivity on the part of many of McCain’s supporters.

I have but one thing to say about McCain’s associations: “Keating Five”. Anyone who is fine with McCain’s actions as a sitting senator relative to that debacle and yet finds reason to knock Obama based on his associations lacks objectivity. What’s more, given Senator McCain’s involvement, I can only think of two reasons why the Keating Five scandal isn’t trumpeted to the world for all to hear about:

    1. Obama’s people believe this would be unfair and hypocritical.
    2. The scandal is too old and distant to be of any relevance.

That said, why do so many McCain surrogates and supporters constantly attack Obama for his associations? Think about it. It seems to be a distraction from the real issues, and given what I am seeing across the internet and in interviews of McCain supporters, it seems to work.
It’s a sound political tactic, because the first things most McCain supporters can mention about Obama are ACORN, Ayres, Rezko, and Wright. But this tactic should not command any respect for John McCain or his policies. This tactic shines light much on McCain’s own character, while casting the substance of the competing policies and views of the candidates into obscurity.

  29. kent, i recall reading a book on psychology that opted to define insanity as repeating the same acts over and over expecting different results. maybe it was a particular type of insanity, maybe it was liberalism!

    0

    0
  30. Stash – the “repeating the same thing and expecting a different result” is actually a quote from Einstein, meant to be pithy rather than exhaustive. The repetition is common in a person who is deeply sleep deprived, drunk, or foolish. It’s a common thing to use in early Turing Tests (where you are chatting on a computer and you are trying to determine if it is a person or an artificial intelligence on the other side). In old systems asking the same question got an identical answer, because the machine gave the same output to the same input. Later the programmers got smarter and decided to vary the grammar and have the computer appear to get bored or frustrated if asked the same thing repeatedly, as a human would. Therefore, modern computers became smarter than insects around 1980 and smarter than knee-jerk liberals around 1970.

As for Pelosi and Barney Frank having a press conference to condemn the 12 votes they did not control while ignoring the 95 votes they did control that went the same direction as the ones they condemned, and for the same reason. Well, that basically means an abacus has more computing capacity than the head of the Senate Finance Committee.

  31. 32Kent you sound like a four year old caught with your hand in the cookie jar. You have an excuse for every failure of the Republicans (even though you simply make most if it up in your imagined superior intellect). But none of that nonsense removes any of the long list of failures that the Republicans have had when they had complete and total control of the government. Point your fingers at everyone else, but the list of failures does not get any shorter.

The debt – wars do that- Yes but you also know that the republican congress took a record surplus and created a history making record deficit without counting the war. You know this, but you pretend.

Drill our way to economic independence? You know how ridiculous that is. We use 25% and we have 3%. That is your solutions to unlimited government growth and spending? Again you know this, you choose to ignore that fact that do not support your agenda.

Attack on our soil? Do you think the 4000+ dead Americans care where they where standing when they where killed. Is it easier for you to ignore them because they where not killed here? So Bush made things easier for them to kill our people without al that traveling. It is disgusting for the right to dismiss these deaths as if they are not victims of terrorist too. The fact remains that the people that did attack us are still alive and still planning the next attack. AL Queda is stronger than ever and growing everyday. Yet you want to run the mission accomplished banner up again? Pretending success because you refuse to admit your failures will only make the next attack more successful and more deadly. Republican continues to be the wrong answer for American prosperity.

  32. Yes we need change and the one fudamental aspect of fixing the economy is not to treat the economy as an independent issue. One should evaluate the impact of our foreign policy on our economy and then think of a solution. Whats hearting our economy is really our crazy foreign policy that has been shaped by foreign-interest lobbies in D.C. (an example is AIPAC which is known to be the most powerfull lobby in D.C). Prior to 9-11 and in the 1990’s we had a healthy running economy when we were getting the barrel of oil for $17 compared to $147 earlier this year. When the natorious pro-israeli lobby, AIPAC, “rigged” the evidence of WMD’s and we went to war in Iraq look at what hapenned next; Oil prices sky rocketed and we lost against nobody!!! and why, because those “traitors” in D.C. are more concerned about the security of Israel and didn’t care what hapenned next. How expensive was the war on iraq? direct and idirect expenses are estimated to be around $ 2.5 trillion. now where is that money going to come from? Its all for Israel and the commitment to serve those Racist zionist in Israel. We lost our leadership in the world economically and ethically because of Israel. We need a president to do whats right for America, not Israel…..Yes we need change that includes change in foreign policy…..peace.

  33. We don’t have 3 percent, we PRODUCE 3 percent. Hence the drilling. There are also renewable solutions that could put OPEC out of business, increase farm income in the third world, and free us from intimidation by Islamists and Communists. Yet liberals fight those too – because liberalism is about nihilism, not solutions. McCain is on record as supporting second-generation flex fuel vehicles that could run on methanol or ethanol as well as gas in any combination. Obama is not.

BTW, wells are considered “dry” because 50 percent of the oil there is out of reach. if we sequester liquid CO2 in our existing “dry” oil wells, we can drive another 20 percent to the surface, matching the capacity of the middle east. I bet you know nothing of these things. Because you don’t care about solutions. I have yet to meet a liberal who cares about real solutions enough to evaluate them based on practicality.

The 4000 soldiers you refer to, in your liberal way of throwing out 99 percent of the data about something to cherry pick the one talking point you take out of context, are A) volunteers, B) soldiers, C) fighting back, and D) winning. Of course, none of these facts mean anything to you. The victims of 9/11 were innocent people – men, women, and children, going about their lives at work in their own country. Osama considers 9/11 a victory because he sacrificed 12 to kill thousands. While our government does not publish body counts, I think we can safely say that for every US soldier killed, more than one and realistically more than ten terrorists, just like the 12 on 9/11, are no longer able to threaten our country or any other country. As for Al Queda winning, what outdated leftist rag told you that little talking point? Even they admit they can’t function properly. Even their safe bases in Pakistan and Syria can’t keep them safe anymore. Seriously, what are you quoting, and when was it written, and from what acid-tripping echo chamber did it spill forth?

As for debt – yes, the republicans in congress made a mess with earmarks when they took control, but the democrats promptly exceeded those when they took power. Any graphs showing these things take a sudden Pelosi spike about two years ago. Apparently you think if you pour enough democrat gasoline on a fire you’ll put it out. We may be quibbling about what octane rating each can available is, but those are our two choices. At least some republicans fight this, whereas the question with democrats is how much nitro is mixed in. With Obama-Pelosi-Reid, you pretty much have the Mother Of All Budgets in the making.

As for my imagined superiority, you are the one getting your @ss kicked in public with no clue as to how badly you are or how foolish you look. But then again – trying the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. I’m not superior. I stand on a mountain of thousands of years of wisdom proved through real world experience, whereas you stand on the intoxicated rantings elevated to philosophy 150 years ago and education 40 years ago by those for whom alcohol was an insufficient source of madness to be judged worthy of building a world view upon. I’m not superior, I’m NORMAL. If normality is kicking your @ss, maybe you should check into rehab. Or watch something other than MSNBC. At any rate, I recognize that a man standing on a mountain and one drowning in a cesspool are ultimately both just men. The tragedy is that you take that cesspool into yourself and consider yourself better for having done so.

  34. I don’t know how long it’s been since our commander in chief has asked anything from the American people. I think it speaks volumes when, hopefully, President Obama, could ask his supporters to take the day off to vote. (Not sit at home and do nothing, like most people are interpreting) This is a historic event and takes someone with historic visions to even ask his supports to take this across the finish line with him. If you are a McCain supporter you should think this is important enough to do the same. In my state we were allowed to early vote, so I will work a half day on election day and the other half I will spend helping to get people to the polls and helping those undecided voters see a new direction for America.

  35. I had great admirasion for Sen’s Goldwater and McCain and as a registered Arizona independent voted for the former. The later has been my Sen for the twenty six plus years and what a great warrier he is. But Arizona can’t claim to be much better off from his leadership… I watch as he and his family and Keating friends jetted from island resort to their many homes, probably using some of my aunt and uncles life savings (and loans.. claimming that it would never happen again). John has been thru far more than most all the rest of us and is a real fighter who now derserves the good life but I also watched as… if you spoke english it became nearly impossible to find work unless you started a new career , students or other people needing extra income had a very hard time finding work. Something a son of a admiral marring early into wealth probably never experienced.

Your standing on a mountain of BS and you sound like a raving lunatic. You live in a bubble. Your arguments dismiss fact and evidence and replace them with a third grade mentality and are easily summed up with “you’re a poopy head”. Brilliant argument there. Lie an deny is not a logical argument.

As a veteran myself your argument the 9/11 victims are different because “they where innocent” is typical of the twisted, sick logic you have to use to justify your defective reasoning. Sick sick sick. Pat yourself on the back again about how normal you sound. Nutcase.

Bin laudin did not beat us with a body count, he beat us by scaring chicken hawks like you into supporting a needless war that forces us to spend ourselves out of existence. They have said this many times and you continue to support them on it.

I agree that MCCain has no chance whatsoever of winning, but the day off is for people to vote for a president, not to promote Obama’s intersts. I can only hope that repugnicants don’t consider voting to be a socialist, communist America hating event now too?

  42. Better hang on to that job as long as you can. One idea that is floating around in my region of the country is this: If Obama gets in, some employers will cut their staff by 30% and raise prices by 30%. Others will go to all part-time workers. What will be saved by not paying health care, overtime, vacation/holiday pay, and sick pay will offset Obama’s tax increases. Kind of hard to pay back those student loans on part time. Charitable donations will plummet so the organizations that normally help won’t be able to (Red Cross is struggling now). Something to think about…

  43. I guess when you accuse others of ad hominem attacks and launch one of your own, with such incoherence that one can’t possibly pull one logical statement out of your entire post, I guess you are admitting you’ve lost. You stopped addressing any points I made, so you admit, or at least your argument does, that you’ve lost. You are not listening to anything but your own anger. You’ve not addressed my responses at all. I point out your cherry-picked data and propaganda are not based in anything, give you context to the former and expose the latter, asking for sources, and all I get is a string of insults.

I’ve had a very entertaining afternoon reducing you to a small puddle of rabies-tainted saliva. Thanks for playing.

  44. If all Obama supporters take the day to get the vote out, it will be a business holiday. Republicans mainly live off the government so they don’t have to worry. Their government checks will still be good, thanks to the Democrats paying taxes.

It is a fact that if you compare the federal dollars received to the taxes paid, the more a state voted for Bush, the more federal money they received for every tax dollar paid. Republicans complain about their taxes, but they are the ones receiving the money.

You can find tax information here http://www.taxfoundation.org/research/show/266.html
I forget where I found the 2004 voting results but we can see next week how those living on government money vote.

  46. I’ve been splitting more wood and I don’t have the energy to read all those 1000-word comments. I think I’ll take the rest of the day off. Maybe the rest of the month. Actually, I’m kinda done for the year. Maybe I’ll retire, too. And go fishing. That’s a nice relaxing alternative to strenuous vegetable gardening. Yeah….

The good thing about this plan is I won’t pay any income taxes for Obama’s redistribution plans. Yeah, I think I’ll just opt out of that.

  47. On primary election day 1996, a business associate of mine in Florida went to vote. At the polling place, he noticed there was a long line of democrats, and no line of Republicans. When he commented on this to the election judge, she replied “All the Republicans must be at work”.

    True story.

  48. (from an unknown source)

While walking down the street one day a US senator is tragically hit by a truck and dies.

His soul arrives in heaven and is met by St. Peter at the entrance.

“Welcome to heaven,” says St. Peter “Before you settle in, it seems there is a problem. We seldom see a high official around these parts, you see, so we’re not sure what to do with you.”

“No problem, just let me in,” says the senator.

“Well, I’d like to, but I have orders from higher up. What we’ll do is have you spend one day in hell and one in heaven. Then you can choose where to spend eternity.”

“Really, I’ve made up my mind. I want to be in heaven,” says the senator.

“I’m sorry, but we have our rules.”

And with that, St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell. The doors open and he finds himself in the middle of a green golf course. In the distance is a clubhouse and standing in front of it are all his friends and other politicians who had worked with him.

Everyone is very happy and in evening dress. They run to greet him, shake his hand, and reminisce about the good times they had while getting rich at the expense of the people.

They play a friendly game of golf and then dine on lobster, caviar and champagne.

Also present is the devil, who really is a very friendly guy who has a good time dancing and telling jokes. They are having such a good time that before he realizes it, it is time to go.

Everyone gives him a hearty farewell and waves while the elevator rises …

The elevator goes up, up, up and the door reopens on heaven where St. Peter is waiting for him.

“Now it’s time to visit heaven.”

So, 24 hours pass with the senator joining a group of contented souls moving from cloud to cloud, playing the harp and singing. They have a good time and, before he realizes it, the 24 hours have gone by and St. Peter returns.

“Well, then, you’ve spent a day in hell and another in heaven. Now choose your eternity.”

The senator reflects for a minute, then answers: “Well, I would never have said it before, I mean, heaven has been delightful, but I think I would be better off in hell.”

So St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell.

Now the doors of the elevator open and he’s in the middle of a barren land covered with waste and garbage.

He sees all his friends, dressed in rags, picking up the trash and putting it in black bags as more trash falls from above…

The devil comes over to him and puts his arm around his shoulder. “I don’t understand,” stammers the senator “Yesterday I was here and there was a golf course and clubhouse, and we ate lobster and caviar, drank champagne, and danced and had a great time. Now there’s just a wasteland full of garbage and my friends look miserable. What happened?”

The devil looks at him, smiles and says…….

“Yesterday we were campaigning. Today you voted.”

  49. They don’t need to take to take a day off because most of them don’t work, just hoping that Obama will win so that they can get redistribution checks.
