They don't need to take to take a day off because most of them don't work, just hoping that Obama will win so that they can get redistribution checks.

(from an unknown source)

While walking down the street one day a US senator is tragically hit by a truck and dies.

His soul arrives in heaven and is met by St. Peter at the entrance.

"Welcome to heaven," says St. Peter "Before you settle in, it seems there is a problem. We seldom see a high official around these parts, you see, so we're not sure what to do with you."

"No problem, just let me in," says the senator.

"Well, I'd like to, but I have orders from higher up. What we'll do is have you spend one day in hell and one in heaven. Then you can choose where to spend eternity."

"Really, I've made up my mind. I want to be in heaven," says the senator.

"I'm sorry, but we have our rules."

And with that, St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell. The doors open and he finds himself in the middle of a green golf course. In the distance is a clubhouse and standing in front of it are all his friends and other politicians who had worked with him.

Everyone is very happy and in evening dress. They run to greet him, shake his hand, and reminisce about the good times they had while getting rich at the expense of the people.

They play a friendly game of golf and then dine on lobster, caviar and champagne.

Also present is the devil, who really is a very friendly guy who has a good time dancing and telling jokes. They are having such a good time that before he realizes it, it is time to go.

Everyone gives him a hearty farewell and waves while the elevator rises ...

The elevator goes up, up, up and the door reopens on heaven where St. Peter is waiting for him.

"Now it's time to visit heaven."

So, 24 hours pass with the senator joining a group of contented souls moving from cloud to cloud, playing the harp and singing. They have a good time and, before he realizes it, the 24 hours have gone by and St. Peter returns.

"Well, then, you've spent a day in hell and another in heaven. Now choose your eternity."

The senator reflects for a minute, then answers: "Well, I would never have said it before, I mean, heaven has been delightful, but I think I would be better off in hell."

So St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell.

Now the doors of the elevator open and he's in the middle of a barren land covered with waste and garbage.

He sees all his friends, dressed in rags, picking up the trash and putting it in black bags as more trash falls from above...

The devil comes over to him and puts his arm around his shoulder. "I don't understand," stammers the senator "Yesterday I was here and there was a golf course and clubhouse, and we ate lobster and caviar, drank champagne, and danced and had a great time. Now there's just a wasteland full of garbage and my friends look miserable. What happened?"

The devil looks at him, smiles and says.......

"Yesterday we were campaigning. Today you voted."

On primary election day 1996, a business associate of mine in Florida went to vote. At the polling place, he noticed there was a long line of democrats, and no line of Republicans. When he commented on this to the election judge, she replied "All the Republicans must be at work".

True story.

I've been splitting more wood and I don't have the energy to read all those 1000-word comments. I think I'll take the rest of the day off. Maybe the rest of the month. Actually, I'm kinda done for the year. Maybe I'll retire, too. And go fishing. That's a nice relaxing alternative to strenuous vegetable gardening. Yeah....

The good thing about this plan is I won't pay any income taxes for Obama's redistribution plans. Yeah, I think I'll just opt out of that.

If all Obama supporters take the day to get the vote out, it will be a business holiday. Republicans mainly live off the government so they don't have to worry. Their government checks will still be good, thanks to the Democrats paying taxes.

It is a fact that if you compare the federal dollars received to the taxes paid, the more a state voted for Bush, the more federal money they received for every tax dollar paid. Republicans complain about their taxes, but they are the ones receiving the money.

You can find tax information here http://www.taxfoundation.org/research/show/266.html
I forget where I found the 2004 voting results but we can see next week how those living on government money vote.

I guess when you accuse others of ad hominem attacks and launch one of your own, with such incoherence that one can't possibly pull one logical statement out of your entire post, I guess you are admitting you've lost. You stopped addressing any points I made, so you admit, or at least your argument does, that you've lost. You are not listening to anything but your own anger. You've not addressed my responses at all. I point out your cherry-picked data and propaganda are not based in anything, give you context to the former and expose the latter, asking for sources, and all I get is a string of insults.

I've had a very entertaining afternoon reducing you to a small puddle of rabies-tainted saliva. Thanks for playing.

Better hang on to that job as long as you can. One idea that is floating around in my region of the country is this: If Obama gets in, some employers will cut their staff by 30% and raise prices by 30%. Others will go to all part-time workers. What will be saved by not paying health care, overtime, vacation/holiday pay, and sick pay will offset Obama's tax increases. Kind of hard to pay back those student loans on part time. Charitable donations will plummet so the organizations that normally help won't be able to (Red Cross is struggling now). Something to think about...

"Sure, take the day off. The audacity of Obama. Who else would even suggest that people take the day off to promote his interests???"

I agree that MCCain has no chance whatsoever of winning, but the day off is for people to vote for a president, not to promote Obama's intersts. I can only hope that repugnicants don't consider voting to be a socialist, communist America hating event now too?

"I’m not superior. I stand on a mountain of thousands of years of wisdom proved through real world experience, whereas you stand on the intoxicated rantings elevated to philosophy 150 years ago and education 40 years ago by those for whom alcohol was an insufficient source of madness to be judged worthy of building a world view upon. I’m not superior, I’m NORMAL. "

Your standing on a mountain of BS and you sound like a raving lunatic. You live in a bubble. Your arguments dismiss fact and evidence and replace them with a third grade mentality and are easily summed up with "you're a poopy head". Brilliant argument there. Lie an deny is not a logical argument.

As a veteran myself your argument the 9/11 victims are different because "they where innocent" is typical of the twisted, sick logic you have to use to justify your defective reasoning. Sick sick sick. Pat yourself on the back again about how normal you sound. Nutcase.

Bin laudin did not beat us with a body count, he beat us by scaring chicken hawks like you into supporting a needless war that forces us to spend ourselves out of existence. They have said this many times and you continue to support them on it.

You are only NORMAL in your own small minded, uniformed bubble that you live in.

This election is not fair because all these black people are going to vote who never voted before. Everyone needs to run out and vote for McCain for more of the same.

Everyone knows McCain is going to win because everyone is going to vote for the white guy for more of the same.

Sure, take the day off. The audacity of Obama. Who else would even suggest that people take the day off to promote his interests??? Of course, many of his supporters take every day off. And we continue to work to pay their salaries.

I had great admirasion for Sen's Goldwater and McCain and as a registered Arizona independent voted for the former. The later has been my Sen for the twenty six plus years and what a great warrier he is. But Arizona can't claim to be much better off from his leadership... I watch as he and his family and Keating friends jetted from island resort to their many homes, probably using some of my aunt and uncles life savings (and loans.. claimming that it would never happen again). John has been thru far more than most all the rest of us and is a real fighter who now derserves the good life but I also watched as... if you spoke english it became nearly impossible to find work unless you started a new career , students or other people needing extra income had a very hard time finding work. Something a son of a admiral marring early into wealth probably never experienced.

I don't know how long it's been since our commander in chief has asked anything from the American people. I think it speaks volumes when, hopefully, President Obama, could ask his supporters to take the day off to vote. (Not sit at home and do nothing, like most people are interpreting) This is a historic event and takes someone with historic visions to even ask his supports to take this across the finish line with him. If you are a McCain supporter you should think this is important enough to do the same. In my state we were allowed to early vote, so I will work a half day on election day and the other half I will spend helping to get people to the polls and helping those undecided voters see a new direction for America.

We don't have 3 percent, we PRODUCE 3 percent. Hence the drilling. There are also renewable solutions that could put OPEC out of business, increase farm income in the third world, and free us from intimidation by Islamists and Communists. Yet liberals fight those too - because liberalism is about nihilism, not solutions. McCain is on record as supporting second-generation flex fuel vehicles that could run on methanol or ethanol as well as gas in any combination. Obama is not.

BTW, wells are considered "dry" because 50 percent of the oil there is out of reach. if we sequester liquid CO2 in our existing "dry" oil wells, we can drive another 20 percent to the surface, matching the capacity of the middle east. I bet you know nothing of these things. Because you don't care about solutions. I have yet to meet a liberal who cares about real solutions enough to evaluate them based on practicality.

The 4000 soldiers you refer to, in your liberal way of throwing out 99 percent of the data about something to cherry pick the one talking point you take out of context, are A) volunteers, B) soldiers, C) fighting back, and D) winning. Of course, none of these facts mean anything to you. The victims of 9/11 were innocent people - men, women, and children, going about their lives at work in their own country. Osama considers 9/11 a victory because he sacrificed 12 to kill thousands. While our government does not publish body counts, I think we can safely say that for every US soldier killed, more than one and realistically more than ten terrorists, just like the 12 on 9/11, are no longer able to threaten our country or any other country. As for Al Queda winning, what outdated leftist rag told you that little talking point? Even they admit they can't function properly. Even their safe bases in Pakistan and Syria can't keep them safe anymore. Seriously, what are you quoting, and when was it written, and from what acid-tripping echo chamber did it spill forth?

As for debt - yes, the republicans in congress made a mess with earmarks when they took control, but the democrats promptly exceeded those when they took power. Any graphs showing these things take a sudden Pelosi spike about two years ago. Apparently you think if you pour enough democrat gasoline on a fire you'll put it out. We may be quibbling about what octane rating each can available is, but those are our two choices. At least some republicans fight this, whereas the question with democrats is how much nitro is mixed in. With Obama-Pelosi-Reid, you pretty much have the Mother Of All Budgets in the making.

As for my imagined superiority, you are the one getting your @ss kicked in public with no clue as to how badly you are or how foolish you look. But then again - trying the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. I'm not superior. I'm not superior, I'm NORMAL. If normality is kicking your @ss, maybe you should check into rehab. Or watch something other than MSNBC. At any rate, I recognize that a man standing on a mountain and one drowning in a cesspool are ultimately both just men. The tragedy is that you take that cesspool into yourself and consider yourself better for having done so.

Yes we need change and the one fudamental aspect of fixing the economy is not to treat the economy as an independent issue. One should evaluate the impact of our foreign policy on our economy and then think of a solution. Whats hearting our economy is really our crazy foreign policy that has been shaped by foreign-interest lobbies in D.C. (an example is AIPAC which is known to be the most powerfull lobby in D.C). Prior to 9-11 and in the 1990's we had a healthy running economy when we were getting the barrel of oil for $17 compared to $147 earlier this year. When the natorious pro-israeli lobby, AIPAC, "rigged" the evidence of WMD's and we went to war in Iraq look at what hapenned next; Oil prices sky rocketed and we lost against nobody!!! and why, because those "traitors" in D.C. are more concerned about the security of Israel and didn't care what hapenned next. How expensive was the war on iraq? direct and idirect expenses are estimated to be around $ 2.5 trillion. now where is that money going to come from? Its all for Israel and the commitment to serve those Racist zionist in Israel. We lost our leadership in the world economically and ethically because of Israel. We need a president to do whats right for America, not Israel.....Yes we need change that includes change in foreign policy.....peace.

32Kent you sound like a four year old caught with your hand in the cookie jar. You have an excuse for every failure of the Republicans (even though you simply make most if it up in your imagined superior intellect). But none of that nonsense removes any of the long list of failures that the Republicans have had when they had complete and total control of the government. Point your fingers at everyone else, but the list of failures does not get any shorter.

The debt - wars do that- Yes but you also know that the republican congress took a record surplus and created a history making record deficit without counting the war. You know this, but you pretend.

Drill our way to economic independence? You know how ridiculous that is. We use 25% and we have 3%. That is your solutions to unlimited government growth and spending? Again you know this, you choose to ignore that fact that do not support your agenda.

Attack on our soil? Do you think the 4000+ dead Americans care where they where standing when they where killed. Is it easier for you to ignore them because they where not killed here? So Bush made things easier for them to kill our people without al that traveling. It is disgusting for the right to dismiss these deaths as if they are not victims of terrorist too. The fact remains that the people that did attack us are still alive and still planning the next attack. AL Queda is stronger than ever and growing everyday. Yet you want to run the mission accomplished banner up again? Pretending success because you refuse to admit your failures will only make the next attack more successful and more deadly. Republican continues to be the wrong answer for American prosperity.
