Neither Hope Nor Change

Iranians are burning pictures of Barack Obama? Don’t they know who he is? Don’t they feel the hope that he brings? Don’t they know he’s going to take America in a radical new direction? Didn’t they see the Yes We Can video? And where is the fire marshal?

Actually, Iran is probably a little ahead of the curve on realizing what everyone will find out eventually: There is never change. We like to play up on things will be radically different from one politician to another, but the fact that they are politicians makes them about 90% the same right there. Yes, Bush and Obama are different from each other, just like Los Angeles and New York are far from each other — though it doesn’t seem like much of a difference if you’re commuting from Alpha Centauri.

So, in Iran, Obama means change — he’s a new picture to burn.

Well, after 8 years, maybe they all ran out of pictures of pres Bush.

  2. DamnCat says:

Bah – they’re just trying to get on Obama’s good side by showing how anti-American they are.

“Just another picture to burn” – Dammit, I finally had that annoying
Taylor Swift song of my daughter’s out of my head till the last line of your post.

  4. Keith says:

Terry_Jim – I agree, but seeing Obama’s picture in the starring role doesn’t exactly hurt.

Hey, Frank: is this part of our master plan? Poo-Flinging Monkey On The Loose. I really expected to read “… and the monkey was last seen fleeing north, towards the Obama inauguration…”

I have a theory that the world doesn’t really hate us less when we have a weak kneed democrat leader, it’s just that the media suddenly forgets that burning effigies of the president are newsworthy, and instead focused on celebrity shark attacks.

Of course that would mean that the media has a secret political agenda, and we all know that is simply not true.

What can you expect? They, too, are seeing the small, pointy horns beginning to grow out of Darth Obama’s head. They get really uptight with the whole Yankee devil thing….and now, so am I.

They were ok until the homo Bishop thingy came out. A coincidence? Me thinks not!!!

Not to worry! Hillary will have those fires out in no time. The world respects the Clintorisis, besides, If they screw around too much they may yet be dealing with Janet Reno. If she can burn Waco she can certainly burn Wacko.

It’s actually the most sane thing anyone has done regarding “The One”. McCain should have had the Ahyatollas running his campaing. Maybe there is still hope for the conservative movement.

The Republican Guard! Has a nice ring doesn’t it?

  9. ISU Conservative says:

I don’t know there is something a little funny about burning a picture of a guys face that is smiling. He looks like he doesn’t even care that hes getting burned. Therefore, Iranians are only showing American strength, “We laugh when you burn me.”

  10. Eros says:

Sheesh. All they do is burn pictures…no creativity. At least back in the late ’70′s, we had Ahyatolla Kohmani and Jimmy Carter toilet paper and punching bags.

Thx Taylor!!!!!! This is EXACTLY how I feel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I never knew that more ppl than me have felt the same way!!! That encourages me to keep trying to get to know that special someone in my life!
