Along with being super-enthusiastic, Republicans should characterize Mayor Soto as a Pro-Life Catholic Homophobe who reveres the Constitution. When she, or the Industrial Media Complex, or the O-bah-muhh administration deny this as ’slander’, Republicans say prove it.

Telling lies with the hope that it will compel the Obots to tell the truth is the Blanche DuBois, relying on the kindness of strangers approach, & destined to fail. The Obots talking points are that Obama’s nominee is a mild mannered centrist. If you repeat that she’s a mild mannered nonpartisan centrist, the Obots will just assume that you are a stupid RethugliKKKan with a very little brain. If you disagree with them, they’ll still assume that you are an evil RethugliKKKan with a very little brain, but an very evil & dangerous one.

Since her Latina heritage is an important basis for her thought processes, and most Latinas are Christian, we should expect her to bring a greater emphasis on Christian doctrine to bear on her SCOTUS decisions. She should be asked about this.

Since her Latina heritage informs her judicial decisions, and most legal Latinas (especially those of long residence) are disdainful of, and alarmed by, the illegal migration from south of the border, we can expect her to take a dim view concerning the rights of illegal aliens. She should be asked about this.

Since her Latina heritage guided the development of her mental processes, and most Latinas grew up in a culture where personal firearms are prevalent, we can expect her to exhibit strong support of the 2nd Amendment. She should be asked about this.

Since her Latina heritage stands a point of personal pride to her, and most Latinas are not homosexual or bisexual, we can expect her to have a fundamental character bias against legislative and judicial challenges to DOMA. She should be asked about this.

Perhaps instead of lambasting identity politics, we should take a lesson from FrankJ and celebrate them.

Sad, but true. Although here in Central PA, it’s the south. Maryland just can’t help but spread its disease.

“We need to escape Maryland because of the high taxes. Then we’ll vote for Democrats when we get to Pennsylvania!”

Is there a cure for blindness?

1 – They should ask some tough questions about her judicial philosophy during the confirmation, but they shouldn’t put up a fight. First, Republicans argued left and right that the President was owed deference in judicial picks, so they’d lose all credibility if they put up a fight now. Second, they probably couldn’t filibuster anyway, so they should take the high road now and build up some credibility for later. And third, anybody Obama puts forward is going to be a reliably far-left liberal, so we should at least be hopeful that this one might not be able to influence the squishes (sorry, “moderates”) on the Court.

2 – While taking the high road, Republicans should nonetheless remind people every chance they get that it was Democrats who probably kept a Latino from reaching the bench earlier. Miguel Estrada was viewed as a likely Supreme Court nominee under President Bush, so Democrats filibustered his appointment to the most important appeals court (the D.C. Circuit) back in 2001. Bush reportedly was high on the idea of appointing the first Hispanic to the Supreme Court. If not for the Democrats, he probably would have.

Do I have the same rights – the same equal protection under the law of THIS land – or am I just another “guero” & my wife a “mayate” here in (snicker) Aztlan?

Feel free to look those terms up if you don’t already know what they mean. If anyone tries to say that “guero” just means “white”, ask them why they don’t just say “white”. And Aztlan, from the way I define it, means “Land traded for money & booze”.

In fact the entire Capitol and Washington D.C. is a hopeless site for the GOP or Conservatives (with or without a capital c). The GOP has no strength left there. A handful of Senators with principles, a few dozen Representatives. Even in party caucus they are outnumbered by those who will sell out for the smallest earmark or favor.

And the other check and balance, the SC, will soon be a tame parrot on Obama’s shoulder.

Out in the states there is some hope. And that is where any comeback must take root. Town by town, county by county, for every legislative seat and state office. I don’t expect it will work, and certainly I won’t live to see it, since the federal government will sabotage and undermine every attempt. But I am certain nothing will work at the federal level and expending effort on national races is a suicidal hunger strike.

They may as well just rename the party to Castrati. Everyone wants to compromise and moderate and that should never be a position. You never have to apologize for your principles if your principles are right. Sadly,they keep apologizing for adhering the the very principles that founded this great nation.

The GOP is dead. It’s just shambling around like a recalcitrant zombie. Conservatism lives, but it has 40 years of leftist tendrils and brainwashing to overturn. This isn’t a war, they’ve already won. And they did it while we were all sleeping. I love my country and want it to return to its Constitutional roots, but it seems almost as if she may still be breathing, but the brain died a long time ago.

So, see you all in Montana or Wyoming when we decide which state we want to turn into our own nation.

It is an utter waste of time. And besides, it means they needn’t be in the same room as Specter. That is a clean air bonus for any person.

I hear that 80% of her decisions have been overturned. That’s kinda like letting the bubbly out of the bottle before you pour it. So, she’s not a very good soda jerk.
