Robot Fish Farms

Posted by Frank J. on August 25, 2009 at 2:24 pm

Some people are working on robot fish farms. They’ll swim around the oceans full of fish, helping the fish live more naturally while still keeping them in cage. Now, I’m not sure how a robot full of fish swimming around the ocean will take over the world, I just know they’re going to try.

They will certainly make odd Aquaman villains at least.

  1. Oh No Skynet says:

We need John Connor to destroy these now…..

Once Skynet is fully operational these robots will be holding our aquatic food hostage. Doling it out to the deserving (i.e. the young, healthy who are acceptive of Skynets rule).

Oh wait maybe i’m talking about healthcare.

  2. Estella says:

Very odd … also, off topic, has anyone else wondered whether scary evil monkey was behind Michael Jackson’s death? The media hasn’t mentioned it, but were his eyes eaten?
Yes, it’s one of those days.

  3. Live Free Or Die says:

So let’s see,…eating fish is good/healthy,…ocean fish depletion occurs… automated fish farms are proposed as possible counter to fish depletion,… and this is somehow bad?>>>I see National Geographic’s Darwinian Theology imprinted in this story. 1) Too many less evolved humans(useless eaters) on the planet. 2)Oh no! Fish supply running out! 3) SCIENTISTS(the most highly evolved humans) come to the rescue with Automated Fish Farms! 4) NOW GIVE US ALL YOUR MONEY OR THE WORLD STARVES. Al Gore is reading from the same playbook.

  4. cjtony97 says:

Estella – It’s one of THOSE days and NO ONE TOLD ME?!?!? Anyway, MJ’s eyes were plastic and therefore inedible. On topic, this is one of the stupidest things I’ve ever read. Probably dreamed up by Aquaman.

  5. IH8Socialist says:

This is so stupid it had to come from the Obama administration, like from the crazy a$$ science czar.

  6. Joey says:

I’m pretty sure 90%of scientific research these days is designed to make us laugh.

  7. Plentyobailouts says:

We don’t need robot fish farms. The family farm is in enough trouble without all that additional competitioon. Why between gredy corporate farms, global warming, and Pepperidge, why there is harly any land left. Now if you put robot fish behind plows, who knows what they will grow. And what if Aquaman moves into the neighborhood? what will happen to property values?

  8. Sgt Relic says:

This sounds more like Harvey messing with us than actual science.

So, they are going to train the fish to come back to prison by ringing a dinner bell. No predator is going to associate the bell with tasty sea bass….right? I wonder if they gave any thought to the two legged predators? Let’s see, gather a bunch of fish together in a nice neat cage identified by a buoy…….naw, nothing can go wrong with that!

  9. Veeshir says:

That’s a good point Sgt Relic.
What will the International Community do when Pacific islanders take their boats out and pick up all the conveniently grouped fish?

Eh, the way things are going we might need these to live on until the radioactivity dies down and the mutants die off.

  10. MikeLL says:

Such motorized cages could help produce greener, healthier, and more numerous fish

What is a greener fish? Isn’t that the fish you shouldn’t eat?

  11. 5 of 7 says:

Would these be Zombie/Black Lantern robot fish farms?

A lot of fish get killed each year in drift nets.
    1. Drop long net suspended by buoys in ocean.
    2. Leave it in the water for a few days then reel in all the fish that become entangled in the mesh.

(the problem is that the @#$%^&* fishermen don’t always recover their nets and the *&^%$#@ things drift for years; the dead fish in the net attracting more fish in a never-ending cycle)

Of course honest, hardworking American fishermen don’t use drift nets – just the @#$%^&* fer’n fishermen. And Aquaman hasn’t done a %$^#&@* thing about it. A guy in the US Coast Guard told me so I know it’s true.

  12. Son of Bob says:

It will be funny to watch the Greenpeace boats full of hippies freeing the fish.

  13. NunyaB says:

Mmmm, Pepperidge Farm. Thanksalot #7 ;)

  14. Crusty says:

Robot fish farms may be sweeping the ocean but baby fish mouth is sweeping the nation.

    Estella says:

Very odd … also, off topic, has anyone else wondered whether scary evil monkey was behind Michael Jackson’s death?”

Well that’s just silly. We all know Sarah Palin was the one who murdered MJ.

  16. Live Free Or Die says:

“Baby fish mouth! Baby fish mouth!” Made me laugh, sorry to hear Bruno Kirby has passed away.

  17. Live Free Or Die says:

In other news, Ted Kennedy has met his Maker, and the Primordial Ooze was not pleased. And while Mary Jo Kopechne could not be reached for comment, in her eternal recompence, she finally is allowed to smile. Rest In Peace Mary Jo, rest, in Peace.

  18. Dohtimes says:

Best news ever: Soylent Green isn’t carp.

Second best: Ted Kennedy will feed five African nations for the next three years.

  19. ussjimmycarter says:

Live Free or Die…”The Primordial Ooze was not pleased”… LOL!

  20. Plentyobailouts says:

hmmm Captive fish in robot cages, and the demise of teddy. Coincidence?

  21. Lily says:

Why would I want to eat robot fish? I bet they taste nasty even if they are grown on a farm.

We all the saw the link at the puppy blender’s.

    Think, “Seanet” instead of “Skynet”.

I never thought I’d be saying this,

This is a job for Aquaman!

  23. Guffy Conservative says:

A victory, albeit a small one, against the robots who would rule us!
