Conservative breaks a rule, no matter how trivial = must be fired and/or imprisoned.

Liberal breaks a rule (including murder or rape) = Progress. Anyone questioning “progress” must be fired and/or imprisoned.

I have long said that the left does not think that murder, rape, or incest are wrong. if they did they would have boiled teddy. I agree with Natasha, that liberalism is a mental disorder that needs treatment or institutionalization. It's nice to see there are some sensible show biz types. Luc Besson, , quoted in NYT today RE Polanski:

“Our daughters are good friends. But there is one justice, and that should be the same for everyone. I will let justice happen.” He added, , “I don’t have any opinion on this, but I have a daughter, 13 years old. And if she was violated, nothing would be the same, even 30 years later.”

The French people aren't too happy with the Sarkozy administration's support of Polanski either - 70% say he should be held accountable for his crimes. The longer this drags out the more people will realize how despicable his crime was and how disgusting is the idea that he should be allowed to get away with it.

maybe liberals just think that things that happened “a long time ago” aren’t important…like some guy raping and drugging a kid 30 years ago, someone drowning their girlfriend 30 years ago, or a bunch of people coming up with a set of rules that a government should have to follow some 300 years ago.

That’s ancient history. Who cares, right? It happened already, man. You can’t, like, make it unhappen. We need to worry about “now” issues instead of “already happened” issues. That’s why the President the biggest threat to the world TODAY is global warming and Chicago not getting the Olympics in 2016….the other threats have all existed for like, almost 10 years before he became president.

Somewhere in this diatribe one needs to mention:

The Clinton/Lewinsky affair. Any CEO in the country would be fired for that, but it’s ok for a democratic President. Why is that relevant? The reason this ‘affair’ came to light is because Paula Jones accused Clinton of rape. Paula was not the only one to so accuse Clinton, either. Of course, NOW had the wisdom to actually support the man in these cases. Kinda bizarre if you ask me, but that’s the world we live in.

I can appreciate the fact that the victim, now thirty years later, doesn’t want to have him serve any time…she doesn’t remember the incident. Because she was DRUGGED! …and she was paid off, but that’s between RP and her.

This was a crime against humanity however. We still prosecute and sentence murderers, even though their victims don’t get to testify.

And I can see if someone runs from the law because they’re innocent, and refuse to serve their sentence…but this guy admitted to the crime. He isn’t facing the death penalty or anything remotely *close* to that severity, so I’m still not sure why France wouldn’t extradite him. Damn frogs.

If we don’t prosecute people for their crimes, then we live in a lawless society. Sure we’ll save money on law enforcement and jails, but wouldn’t we rather live in a safe country?
