Saying kind things

Posted by Basil on October 9, 2009 at 7:17 am

Every so often, something happens that changes your focus. This weekend, at a wedding, one of the scripture passages made me realize that I haven’t been the nicest person in relating to others.

For instance, I have been way too hard on Barack Obama. And I need to correct that.

It’s true that I disagree with many, many, many things he does, says, and believes. However, is he all bad? He can’t be, can he? Of course not.

So I’m going to say some nice things about the president. True stuff.

  • Yesterday, we had a farewell breakfast for someone at work. I love breakfast. Under Obama’s economy, we’ll have lots more of those!
  • Barack Obama hasn’t bombed America. Even by accident.
  • That special family member that you worry about? You can stop worrying. If Barack Obama can amount to something, anyone can.
  • Barack Obama makes people feel better about themselves. Such as racists. Think about how justified they feel about their beliefs right now.
  • The president has done wonders for international relations. Look how strong France seems compared the the U.S. since Obama took office.
  • Obama is not just another typical Chicago politician. Al Capone would have been able to get the Olympics.
  • The president is too incompetent to be effectively evil.

I’m sure there are many other good things about Barack Obama. I just can’t think of any.

Yup, he’s done such great things for international relations that he won the Nobel Peace Prize…. Check that heaping pile of…talent….out.

[That is a point I missed in this list: Obama is carrying on the tradition of Jimmy Carter and Yasser Arafat. - B]

  2. RightWingKiller says:

Damn, you beat me to the post.
    Carter, Urafart, Gore, Obama?
Yeah, that’s a pack of “winners” alright.

  3. Thor says:

I guess the way to pad your resume’ for the NPP is to make fun of the Special Olympics, call cops stupid, and be completely ineffective as a leader.

The One has done less for peace in this world than the Care Bears. And we can’t forget the unicorns who eat butterflies and poop rainbows.

    Is it 2012, yet?

  4. Crusty says:

“Barack Obama hasn’t bombed America. Even by accident.”

The way his policies are impacting America, who needs a bomb?

BTW I haven’t done crap for the past 10 months either, do I get a Nobel Peace Prize too?

  5. seanmahair says:

Ah but you must remember that the real goal is “world domination under the benign leadership of his royal indecisiveness”.

Hence the new campaign for “head peacenik in perpetuity”. First hurdle – Noble Peace Prize, next step “Hail B Hussein O, leader of the New World Disorder.”

Actually Europe deserves him even more than we do…….let’s make sure they get him (and his supporters), and then refuse to take him back or even acknowledge any responsibility for him.

  6. Deafdog says:

Look at all the good he’s done for the automotive industry…..Ford’s market share is exploding!

  7. NO_MO_BAMA says:

    10 months?? 40+ years
The Nobel PIECE “Prize” He’s a piece of….
He joins many other pieces of…..

What do you expect from confused people who name a “peace prize” after the guy who invented dynamite?

  8. Jimmy says:

A big heap of congratulations, Basil, on your daughter’s marriage !

(Once I went to your link, I can’t think of the… president… anymore… well, for a few minutes, anyway.)

  9. MarkoMancuso says:

    * Even though he probably couldn’t name a single man on the roster, he pretends to like the Pittsburgh Steelers.
    * Barack Obama is just a man and someday he’ll be judged just like the rest of us.

    I don’t know if that’s kind enough.

  10. DamnCat says:

I have been way too hard on Barack Obama.

    That’s Barney Frank’s job.

  11. FormerHostage says:

He hasn’t angered Michelle enough so that she’d b!+ch-slap him in public.

  12. FormerHostage says:

He has effectively put a big ol’ smiley face on incompetence (…never subscribe to evil, etc, etc)

  13. UpNorthLurkin says:

I read at American Thinker that nominations had to be in by Feb. 1. Obey-me’s Trash America Tour had only just begun….
Maybe now we’ll get our unicorns, cuz miracles do happen!

  14. MarkoMancuso says:

He has somehow made the Nobel Peace Prize an even bigger joke.

Barack Obama: making your lifes funny?

  15. DamnCat says:

Marko – you look different today. Can’t quite put my finger on it….

  16. MarkoMancuso says:

    Maybe it’s the avatar?

  17. MarkoMancuso says:

It’s supposed to be a picture of Rod Serling, but I don’t see it.

  18. ss396 says:

    From the NYT:

“The question we have to ask is who has done the most in the previous year to enhance peace in the world,” Mr. Jagland said. “And who has done more than Barack Obama?”

The nominations were closed February 01. In other words, Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize for running such an awesome Presidential campaign.

Barack Obama makes people healthier by helping them reduce weight – can’t afford fries with that Big Mac anymore

  20. SPAD local 17 says:

Um, so they didn’t have a chance to consider accomplishments like refusing to meet with the Dalai Lama (keep China happy!) and saying that the Taliban has a place in Afghanistan’s government? Stupid girls don’t need no education. What would they expect next? To VOTE?

  21. Whitehorse says:

Pres. Obama has shown that competent bowling skills are not needed to win the highest office in the land, as long as your opponent is the epitiome of weakness & the problems in the Republican party. He gives me hope, since I suck at bowling myself… :)

  22. Rubeus says:

Al Capone wasn’t a politician, but it still makes sense. He bought and blackmailed politicians. See, if Capone had you in his hand, and you failed him… it would take more than the Secret Service to protect you.

Maybe we should start our own organized crime syndicate for dealing with crooked politicians…

  23. Live Free Or Die says:

O-bah-muhh has the ability to prevaricate without showing shame.
He gave OK for the SEAL team Snipers to take out Somali pirates
The O-bah-muhh Economy has gotten so bad that the stampede of illegal aliens over the Mexican border has slowed to an orderly jog.
O-bah-muhh has stimulated the Guns and Ammunition Manufacturers’ economic growth
The O-bah-muhh Joker poster is a fine example of artistic expression
O-bah-muhhz economic leadership has resulted in INCREASED U.S. Armed Forces Recruitment numbers. (Young Men especially, can’t find meaningful work)
O-bah-muhhz economic policies have led to an increase in Gold prices, as the Federal Reserve inflates the U.S. Dollar to Zimbabwean proportions
