I recall a news reporter interviewing soldiers about to be sent to liberate Kuwait from Iraq. The soldiers were showing off their carry loads of guns, ammo, Claymores, C4 and so on, and the reporter asked one soldier what training the military had given him to succeed in his mission of liberating the Kuwaitis from the Iraqis. Looking down at his 70-odd pounds of violent technology, the soldier smiled, and said something along the lines of, “The Army has trained me and given me skills in managing interpersonal relationships. I will use that training in Kuwait.”

Ever since then , I recall my “interpersonal relationship management skills” when walking down a dark alley to my parked car at night.

Actually, I see violence as more of the question. The answer is “Yes”.
