Googling China

Posted by Frank J. on January 14, 2010 at 3:01 pm

So Google has found out that helping a tyrannical dictatorship is not a great idea. With the Chinese government trying to hack them and use Google as a tool to oppress its people, Google has finally said they won’t play along anymore and must be allowed to be uncensored or they won’t work with China at all.

You know, this whole mess probably could have been avoided if Google just had some sort of policy about not being evil.

I read “The Google Story,” and was very disappointed to learn that the founders were left wing anti-boooooosh, anti-war zealots.

Yeah, their way of “buying back in” after “selling out”.

Huh…they finally figured out that a communist government is untrustworthy, vicious, and oppressive. I thought these guys were supposed to be smart.

It’s no less than they deserve for having their wide-eyed naive pseudo-communist mindsets. It’s reminiscent of the old “B” SciFi flicks: The gray haired pure scientist approaches the aliens with a beatific smile, speaking words of welcome and peace…..and is vaporized by the evil aliens death-ray!

all they are doing is scrambling to protect the “integrity” of their brand since they hope to have all of us storing our personal files on their servers instead of on our own hard drives. it’s supposed to be the magical future of computing or some such rot. meanwhile, all of our stuff will belong to them and will be used for only-god-knows-what nefarious purposes. as far as i’m concerned, they can ‘google’ this.
