Sorry about your loss. I hope you can take comfort that you were able to know someone like her and appeciate her sacrfice and the millions of Americans like her did for us today. That’s something that sadly the next generation won’t get to know and half the current population over 20 is too shallow to comprehend.

My Great-Aunt flew B17s across the pond to England. Nice little “civilian” job.

Frank, condolences for your loss, memories like that certainly are precious. Thank you for getting that information.

I personally need to get my mother to tell stories from her childhood so those can be recorded. She was 9 years old when WW2 broke out & it was not a given the US would win if it wanted to.

You are lucky Frank. You managed to keep remembrances of your grandmother. My grandmother from Kansas sent me letters when I was in my teens about our family history which she learned from her parents and grandparents, namely, how they crossed this mighty nation in a covered wagon. The letters were chock full of history, and Frank – - – I LOST THEM when I moved away from home. I regret so terribly much. I also wish I had written more to her. You are blessed.

I lost my grandmother one year ago. She lived through WWII and the dust bowl. Tough lady. Loved her lots. I think about her quite alot.

My condolences, Frank. I lost my Grandmother last summer. Her stories of being a newlywed starting a life in Alaska during the Depression gave me the same kind of pause as Dorothy’s stories of the war. We must remember who we come from and pass the same values to our children. God bless you and your family.
