US Popular Overseas – To Make Fun Of

Posted by Harvey on February 15, 2010 at 9:31 pm

According to a new Gallup poll, 51% of Americans think that the US is now viewed favorably overseas, thanks to Obama’s election in 2008.

Turns out 51% of Americans are dead ass wrong.

True, I’m basing this on so little evidence that it would make a climate scientist blush (wait… are Ferengi capable of blushing?), but you have to admit that it IS visually compelling.

Some floats from Germany’s “Rose Monday” parade (big ol’ hat tip to Laurie for these):

A carnival float shows US president Barack Obama and Iran’s President Ahmadinejad with a Trojan horse and an atomic bomb… The international community fears that Tehran is using the guise of a civilian nuclear program to develope atomic weapons something Iran denies.

Effigies of US President Barack Obama and Chinese Prime Minister Hu Jintao are seen sitting together in a bed on a float… The float satirically illustrates the ties between the USA and China.

A carnival float depicting a flying U.S. President Obama angel who landed on his head… Words on tunic reads ‘Obama the Redeemer’.

Fools dressed as the statue of Liberty and Uncle Sam under the theme ‘Jeck we can’, that means, ‘as foolish as we can’

Yeah, they’re just respecting the crap out of us over there.

Thanks, Barack.

Still, in the interests of fairness, I gotta admit the Krauts at least had the stones to take a potshot at the Islamo-wackos, too, so I’ll throw them some High Praise! for this one:

A carnival float representing an Islamic militant with a sword [being bitten by a jester's head with a hat reading "humor & satire"]… The words on the float read ‘he who laughs last…’.

[Here's a link to more Rose Monday pics. Some not safe for work, and some - like the giant naked Frau Merkel - not safe for anyone without a gallon of eye bleach handy.]

With all due respect to Frau Merkel at least her pendulous tutonic udders were perky. As represented on the float that is…I fear gravity is a harsh mistress.

  2. Basil says:

Those aren’t images of Obama! They are images of George Bush wearing an Obama mask! Now it all makes sense!!1!!!

  3. T.N. Amaps says:

“Obama der erloser” – as if that needs any translation.

  4. 5of7 says:

“Jeck-we can!”. The O-bots almost had it right.

Now that Obama is President and we are no longer treating the terrorists (you know…those folks who want to kill all of us) in an inhumane manner…well, it’s reassuring to know that our reward is the fact that the people of important European countries like Liechtenstein, Andorra, and Luxembourg no longer hate us as they did when Bush was president. Like all Americans I used to lose a lot of sleep over what the citizens of countries like that thought about us. I would even toss and turn at night worrying about their opinions of us. Now I no longer have to do that…thanx to President Obama. Now all I have to worry about is whether my country is safe from terrorist attack but that’s a small price to pay to gain the love of important European countries. As far as the Krauts go…well, they’re probably just still pissed off about that World War Two thing….they’ll get over it.

I see the people of the rest of the world, like myself, have not received their free unicorns, gas, and clothing as of this time.

So if Liberals nominate a white women like Hillary in 2012 would their slogan be, “We tried black and now we are back”. I would love to see that float. She could be like waving a finger in the air. Incidentally I have known more then a few liberal white women who had such an experience. Its funny because they think it means they are racist when in reality (which they are allergic too) relationships are usually more fulfilling and easier if you are from the same culture. But then the liberal mindset is built on distorting the understanding culture and race.

Where is the parade float of the episode of “Who’s the Boss” where Tony walks in the bathroom while Angela is in the shower. (Family guy reference)

I will credit Obama with trying to use old solutions to new problems. Say what you will about Bush but he used 1980 solutions to 2001 problems. As bad as Bush was Obama is using 1930 socialism (yea that worked out awesome for everybody) on 2010 problems.

Why doesn’t Europe love Obama they are like inbred socialist cousins? Is it because deep down they sense if America stops being the “dickhead man of the house” then Europe will stop getting to be the pampered and fickle wife?

  9. Corona says:

Obama der erloser. Actually makes more sense in English than in German.

On a side note, taking away the politics, those floats are still awesomely made, and in a very short time. Why can’t American’s make awesome floats? Is it because we set our standards of artistry too low?

Until I read the text, I thought you were posting pictures from the Tea Party Convention.

My computer locked up and nearly shut down on the Merckel picture. The Europeans are mad because they all went to that big BHO rally, and BHO didm’t share with them tha payioff, I mean bailout money he gave his AIG/bankes buddies.
I didn’t see the IMAO float. No buckets on heads. No floats of liberals being chased by Jurrasic Rocket -launching Dino Troops. Led by Dick Cheney. Wimpy Europeans.
