Will the November Election Be Epic?
It’s really looking that way. Gallup has Republicans leading in a generic ballot by 10 points. A five point lead was the highest Republicans ever had in the history of Gallup, and for comparison I believe Republicans were tied with Democrats in the poll in 1994.
The only thing, of course, is that Republicans still suck and we expect them to disappoint us quickly after they’re elected. And polls still show that in general people don’t like Republicans. Still, it’s a different “not like” versus people not liking Democrats right now. It’s like not liking the over-talkative guy at work versus not liking a serial rapist.
Anyway, don’t get cocky, but at least be prepared for monumental gloating on November 3rd.

I am always prepared for monumental gloating.

This is not good news! We have way too many Generic republicans as it is. I’m only voting for Brand Name republicans.

I’m with Marko.
With no apologies to Henry Fonda and Fail-Safe:
August 31st, 2010 at 11:30 am
I like how you just casually compared democrats to serial rapists.
August 31st, 2010 at 11:42 am
Republicans still suck indeed! Do we really need Mitch McConnel to take over the Senate to “work with my dear friends on the other side of the isle” and John Boner to take the Speaker of the House position where he’s been curled up under his desk wearing a diaper for 2 years because Nancy Pelosi made him take a boom boom in his drawers every day…

In order to be truly epic, we will need a large pit like in 300 into which we will kick all the defeated liberals. A slaughter of democrats on Nov 2 will be as symbolic a blow to Obama as when Leonidas’ spear cut Xerxes face open. Thats it. Im watching 300 on election night!
August 31st, 2010 at 12:03 pm
The only thing more epic than the Republican winning sweep in November will be the awesomeness of watching Obambi go into permanent melt-down-crying-temper-useless-to-the-max (even more than now) for the next 2 years.
August 31st, 2010 at 12:11 pm
The liberal blogger types are all weewee’d up over the possiblilty of impeachment after the republicans take over. I doubt it will hapen, but it is fun to see the libbiies terrified of this and admit Obama has done impeachable things. The battle cry for election day is “we won!!” For the next day “Impeach !!!!”. That ought to keep them hiding under their sheets and therefore leaving us alone.

I’ve already built a mental stockpile of smart-azz comments I’m going to leave all over DKos and PuffHo.
August 31st, 2010 at 12:24 pm
Gloating is contagious.
August 31st, 2010 at 12:31 pm
I am all for gloating but the Republicans are greedy spend pigs just like the Dems. I for one am voting Libertarian.
August 31st, 2010 at 12:57 pm
On November 2nd we celebrate. On November 3rd the country begins asking the question, “Is John Boehner really that stupid?”
August 31st, 2010 at 7:48 pm
November 3rd: They may be idiots, but they’re OUR idiots.
August 31st, 2010 at 8:18 pm
Hwuu I’m with you.
August 31st, 2010 at 8:37 pm
Today’s Republicans are Democrats in sheep’s clothing. Now, if we got a batch of Alan Simpson’s, Barry Goldwater’s and Jeane Kirkpatrick’s, I’d amend my statement.

I’m in total agreement. If we can’t field better candidates than tired ol’ RINO’s. If we can’t find people of substance, integrity, honor and experience (in business not in politics). If we refuse to vote in people who aren’t cookie cutter candidates, who mouth platitudes but can’t find the platform, then we are just as bad if not worse than the Dems. It is time to end business as usual. It is time to encourage real patriots to run, to encourage those in office to hire and appoint those with character and some idea of what sacred honor.
Unfortunately here in the lovely state of Doo Dah they are sending a RINO up for election who is simply a jackbutt in elephants clothing. They did it to themselves and I REFUSE to vote for him. I won’t vote for the Dem, but I won’t vote for the jackbutt either. The mean, heartless Irish fishwife in me wants the people in my district to get exactly what they deserve, but I’m trying to get that under control. I just hope he never comes to my door. I hope he and I are never in a room together alone. The urge to make jewelry out of his equipment might be more than I can handle and after all he doesn’t use it, at least when making political decisions.

Oh yes, there will be gloating!

“Will the November Election Be Epic?”
Yes the RepublicOns will pick up some seats in Congress in November. Probably more than 50! Yeah!!
But if you would have told me that a ex-druggie/radio con-man/Libertarian Mormon Televangelist would be the new face of Christian Conservatism in America 5 years ago, I would have laughed. Now all can can do is pray. What the hell is going on?
An Epic it will be. An Epic failure for the Right Wing Christians in America. And an Epic failure in 2012 when real Christians stay home. Glenn Beck is not a Christian.

Is there no conservative blog that doesn’t have a resident HuffHo on it? Carpenter, take a stroll out of the basement. You need some fresh air.
September 1st, 2010 at 9:12 am
Ah yes another person who’s mantra is “forgive me my sins but make sure everyone else suffers forever.” Ever heard of repentance, ever heard of the Atonement, ever heard of paying ones debt to society (whether incarcerated or not). Of course not. Liberals are all about forgiving the illegal, the rapist, the homeless person who stole your wallet (unless of course he’s a veteran than he’s dangerous and should be locked up.
Did it ever cross your teeny little mind that Mr. Beck feels compelled to speak as he does because he’s already been to Hell and clawed his way back. Has it even entered you fuzzy little brain that people ARE NOT PERFECT. Of course I’m supposed to support the idiot in the WH because he bought enough of the country off with promises he’ll never be able to deliver, but then again I’m a Christian so I have to be perfect. Meanwhile people like you are running around casting aspersions and derision at anyone who doesn’t fit your cookie cutter idea of what they should be.
Gee it must be so wonderful to be perfected. When you arrive on the other side let me know how that works out for you. Oh and by the by Beck belongs to the Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter day Saints, where the faithful are encouraged to pray at least 5 times a day in the name of …………..wait for it……………JESUS CHRIST. We are encourage to read the Scriptures which testify of guess who? Yeah, that right Jesus Christ. We give blessing to the sick calling on the name of Jesus Christ. We believe faith without works is dead because that’s what the scriptures say. So just accepting Jesus as your personal Savior while a lovely sentiment isn’t going to get you very far if you judge others unrighteously. So I’d be really careful what you say about someone else’s faith, for as you judge so will you be judged.
Fishwife is now going back inside. Sorry y’all. He just pushed my buttons this morning, all of them, at the same time. Talented little tot isn’t he.

The money grubbing frauds and charismatic TBN’ers and the CBN’ers are bad enough! And now Glenn Beck has started to use FOX news as a stage to promote his religion.
Mormonism is not Christianity. If you think it is you are mistaken. I would suggest you listen to Dr. John MacArthur or Dr. RC Sproul on the subject of Mormonism. They are actually kinder (and gentler) than most.
Beck should stick with Political Propaganda. A theologian he is not

The White Horse Inn (Michael Horton, Kim Riddlebarger, Rod Rosenbladt, and Ken Jones) has a post on Senior Pastor Glenn Beck?
“Regardless of your political views, you have to admire how Glenn Beck…”

Wow . I mean seriously WOW. I have been a “Mormon” for 30+ years. I of course do not know what I’m talking about. I have NO experience with the leaders, the doctrines, the actions or the people. I have lived in 6 states and 1 foreign country in that time period. I’m am sure “Dr John McArthur” knows so much more about the religion I have lived for 30 years than I possible ever could. I mean really why believe someone who as real experience when you can ask someone with an ax to grind.
Oh that’s right. That’s how we do things in America. We find people who demagogue others, who have no real life experience with anything or anyone. Someone who has no real experience with a subject . Then we promote them to the level of their incompetence. Sound vaguely familiar. Seems to me that’s exactly how we got the current leadership in power now.
Whatever you do don’t talk to a practicing Mormon to find out what they believe or how they run their lives. Better to find someone who has been excommunicated because they cheated on their wife or abused their kid or stole from their employers or who just didn’t want to be responsible for themselves or when they had to chose between God and pornography chose smut. Yes those would be the best people to talk to. Just like if you wanted to know about Sarah Palin you’d of course ask the people at Huff Po. I’m sure they’d give you an objective answer.
Oh I’m sorry was that too preachy for you. My bad. I’m finding it very difficult these days to stay the course when the very people I’m supposed to be on the same side with keep poking me in the eye. Almost makes me want to find a new group to play with.

They came for the Mormons, and I said nothing because I wasn’t Mormon.
Then they came for the Catholics, and I said nothing because I wasn’t Catholic.
Then they came for the Evangelicals, and I said nothing because I wasn’t Evangelical.
Then they came for the Jews, and I said nothing because I wasn’t Jewish.
Then they came for me, and there was no one left to speak up for me…
I believe it was Ben Franklin who said, “If we don’t hang together, we shall certainly all hang separately!”
Don’t go, Seanmahair!
To quote the Cowardly Lion, “Stay with us Dorothy, we all love ya!”

I would indeed miss you too, dear friend. You are alway good for just the kind of pick me up that’s needed after a hard day of slogging it out with the trolls. I am probably a little hyper sensitive. I don’t know how to be anything else on this subject.
It is especially galling as I have always tried to accept people and their beliefs no matter what they are. I work with a Pagan lady and she and I have wonderful conversations about religious issues conducted with mutual respect and dignity. It’s a shame so called “Christians” can’t be as Christ-like as a “pagan”. Ah well, dead horse beaten to a bloody pulp,
You have a wonderful day. Oh and don’t buy any ruby slippers, they pinch your toes and Toto really doesn’t like them.
September 2nd, 2010 at 10:18 pm
‘Don’t buy any ruby slippers…’
OK, Deal!
– BTW, Glenn Beck read this today on his radio show.
(It’s from some blogger who, as he said, “Gets it”.)
Beck is building solidarity and cultural confidence in America, its Constitution, its military heritage, its freedom. This is a vision that is despised by people who have long held the commanding heights of the culture, but it is obviously alive and kicking. Beck is creating positive themes of unity and patriotism and freedom and independence, which are above mere political or policy choices but not irrelevant to them. Political and policy choices rest on a foundation of philosophy, culture, self image, ideals, and religion. Change the foundation and the rest will flow from that. Defeat the enemy on that plain and any mere tactical defeat will always be reversible. Beck is unabashed that God can be evoked in public places by citizens who vote and assemble and speak freely to freely exercise their religion. They are supposed to be too brow beaten to do this, gathering hundreds of thousands of them to peacefully assemble shows they are not. But showing that to the people who believe God and practice their religion are fellow citizens who share political and economic values with majorities of Americans is a crucial step. The idea that these people are an American Taliban is laughable, but showing that fact to the world and potential political allies who are not religious is critical. Beck is attacking the enemy at the foundations of their power.
Amen!

I’ve just got to love Beck. He is so real it is sometimes painful to watch him. I think that is what some people really hate about him. They have been conditioned to see people as bs artists who will say anything to get people to like them, buy their stuff, elect them or give them money. Not that Glenn has anything against making money, he has a family- they need to eat, go figure. While he’s making money though he continues to point out problems and offers suggestions.
He is doing what our educational system has given up on. He’s teaching people HOW to think instead of teaching them WHAT to think. The forces of darkness don’t like that. Choice is an anathema to them. I wish him luck and I hope he’s taking security seriously. I trust a liberal just as far as I can throw the Washington Monument.
