What Sort of Thumping Will Democrats Get in November?
Zombie has a list of what metaphor to use based on how many seats Republicans gain in the House. The list goes to some pretty high numbers, which makes me want to remind you what the puppy blender says. That’s right, he says, “Mmm… puppies!” But I was thinking of the other thing he says: “Don’t get cocky.”
Now, I’m looking for a gain of more than fifty on November (labeled an “asskicking” on Zombie’s list). That would be a solid rebuke and I think very attainable (Intrade has the possibility for that now at about 75%). Anything more than that would be nice too, but not going to go into November expecting it. I still hold out hope for this possibility, though.
How many House seats are you expecting the Republicans to gain?

I usually say 51, by which I want to not so much say I have a really specific number, but sneakily indicate that I think it’ll be more than 50.
Really, I think it’ll be a *lot* more than 50.

I’m hoping for 50+, but being as it’s the “stupid party” and there’s still ten voting days to go….
I’d say about 15, because there are still ten voting days to throw it all away and Axelrod already said they’d be stealing the election.

50 is a good number.

I’m sticking with my prediction froma few weeks ago: 60.

ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US!

The numbers don’t interest me as much as the Descriptions.
If Republicans can at least administer a good Asskicking, it might be 1994 All Over Again which could lead to quite the Tea Party Jamboree and an ensuing Wipeout of Democrats. Can’t ask for more than that.

I tend to be an Eeyore on these things. That way I can play Tigger after the elections… or I can just be satisfied with what I expected.
I have no idea how many we’ll be gaining… but I don’t think it will be as high as everyone is expecting. I hope I’m wrong.

Im gonna Price is Right Marko, I say 51.
October 21st, 2010 at 12:28 pm
I’ve been predicting an atomic wedgie, but I don’t see that on the list of descriptions. Maybe that’s reserved for after the election when the new speaker of the house gets to pull barack’s underwear band up over Joe Biden’s head.

It isn’t about numbers…it’s quality, not quantity. The fact that Republican “leaders” like Boehner and McConnell are already doing interviews discussing what Republicans will or will not do after January is, in itself, disturbing. Since they clearly haven’t had meetings with the incoming Republicans yet (as no one’s sure who’s going to win), the good ol’ boy GOP leadership is already setting agenda and assuming the new reps will just follow along. Very disturbing.

It has to be at least 100 to send a message to the RINOs to either knock it off or they are next!
October 21st, 2010 at 12:43 pm
Frank, my answer to your question is: yes.
October 21st, 2010 at 1:06 pm
I’ll give you 52. But If we could eliminate democrat cheating I’d say 90. But with the Chicago Zombie Vote it will be 2.
October 21st, 2010 at 2:31 pm
I hear there are Republican “leaders” who are already talking about working with the President. All I can say is AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! We want you to defeat the President, not work with him you idiots!

What ever kind of thumping the Democrats get…it won’t be thumping enough.
October 21st, 2010 at 2:52 pm
439 seats would be great!
October 21st, 2010 at 3:13 pm
I think I will choose Blue… no, Green! Wait, what was the question?

“Mass Extinction Event” would be ideal, but I’d settle for “A Thumpin’”

Fearless prediction for Nov. 2 elections: The GOP will NOT win ANY seats.
Socialist do not surrender power. It must be taken from them by force (Nicaragua’s 1990 election excepted).
The course of events will be:
1. Voter intimidation. Thank you Mr. Holder.
2. Massive voter fraud. Houston’s and Illinois’ being just the latest flagrant examples.
3. Massive MSM coverage of “failed elections.” Since they are the propaganda wing of the Dems they will have all the details (less ACORN, et. al. involvement).
4. Elections will be declared “deeply flawed” by the Justice Dept. (Damn if Mr. Holder isn’t back!) or the Fed. Election Commission.
5. The current composition of Congress retained because it is “essential for the stability of the Nation” until such time as “fair and honest elections can be guaranteed” … by Mr. Holder.
Me? I’ve filled my bandoleers and sharped my bayonet.

Eleventy….ooh, wait, no….Threeve
October 21st, 2010 at 5:13 pm
How did we accomplish such fear and terror and loathing among the “elite” of both Parties? Why, we did the unthinkable. We went into the voting booths during the primaries and we….GASP!…we voted against the incumbent! “Oh, this is the death of the Republic,” they wail.
The volume of vitriol, hatred, blow-back, spite, spittle and violence from the opposition that was spawned by that simple act has been very much its own reward.
Let’s do it again – this has been fun!

Remember, y’all: In this case, quantity begets quality. You want a large amount of turnover to reverse some of the crapola of the past 2 years. You want as large a margin as possible for each win so that it’s very, very hard for them to chad and zombie (hm, sounds like a radio show) the voters out of their choice. And you want as many non-RINOs as possible to win, not only because they’ll vote intelligently but because the RINOs and squishes need to understand that the people have had it to their gills with being ignored, Constitution-flouting, and spendthrift idiocy.
October 21st, 2010 at 7:11 pm
I’m guessing 71. If there are 117 seats that are in play and we get 60% of them we’d get there.
October 21st, 2010 at 7:43 pm
Mmmmm, less than 8000,
I’d say 100.
Sarah Palin meant to say,
“It’s not yet time to party like it’s 1894…”
October 22nd, 2010 at 12:36 am
All of them.
Wouldn’t that be jolly?
Except McCain – He can get to work ‘building the d*mn fence’ for all I care.
October 22nd, 2010 at 2:11 am
77, if the Democrats cheat a lot…if not, 105.
October 22nd, 2010 at 4:31 am
Hopefully we will have one Tea Party new Senator who will whisper into John McCain’s ear “if you cross that isle just once, or vote with the Democrats just once, I’m going to take you out back and cut your nuts off”!
