The Left Can’t Even Fake Mainstream Anymore

So it’s come out at that one of the strategies for the Huffington Post when it was first made was for it to appear for mainstream than it truly was. Of course, they failed at that and it became obvious to most people that HuffPo was filled with screaming weirdos. This is a big problem with liberals these days: They can’t even fake mainstream anymore.

Just look at the past couple years with liberals in charge. Basically every mainstream idea — stopping out of control spending, protecting the border, not letting a mosque be specifically built on the site of an Islamic terror triumph — has been dismissed as racist. That’s because liberals can’t even understand mainstream thought to even debate it anymore. That’s the defining characteristic of the left these days: Complete and utter ignorance of their fellow man.

And there’s the thing: Who we call liberal are anything but. They get very angry at new ideas different than their own. What we call the left are really just conservatives who are closed minded on old, stupid ideas — like socialism. And they’re very resistant to reexamining those ideas, hence yelling racism or what not at anyone who thinks differently. So the left can’t even fake mainstream anymore because the majority of them are too ignorant and too myopic in their thinking to even understand another point of view. Hence the average editorial from the Huffington Post.

  1. You nailed it, Frank. No wonder you’re a big time blogging type blogger.

    The Left has been far more open about who they really are over the last couple of years than ever. Which is why they lost so bad in the 2010 midterms. Hopefully they will keep this telling us who they really are stuff up.

  2. I’m amazed that the left can’t fake mainstream, even though they own Hollywood, where faking things has been perfected.

  3. It’s pretty funny, but I would have liked to be at that famous “brain” storming session in Brentwood. Liberals are pretty good at coming up with ideas, so I want to know which themes they discarded before coming up with the plan to appear mainstream:

    * Appear to be intelligent
    * Appear not be brain dead zombies
    * Appear not be commies
    * Be a place for liberal loons
    * Appear to be calm and reasoned
    * Provide a source for crackpot theories
    * Provide a place for liberals to brainstorm new epithets

    Of most professional interest to me is the fact that they stated explicitly that their intent was “to transform the Democratic party from the outside in.” Did any OMAO’ers (Has anyone ever used that term? It’s totally teh ghey.) see Beck’s three part series about Soros?

    I’d like to point out that Arianna wrote in an email, “We have now officially entered into Bizzaro World.” Now, here’s the thing. She capitalized “Bizarro World,” indicating that to her, it is a real place, perhaps a destination or address. Arianna, how would you be able to know that you had exited Bizarro World? Spock with a goatee doesn’t work because in Bizarro World, he’d shave it off just to be bizarre.

  4. Wow, that was another long one for me. If my posts are ever too long, just say, “Burmashave, that was an excellent post, but I got bored after the second sentence and skipped the rest.”

  5. MSNBC tried that strategy too;
    back when Chris Matthews droned constantly about the friendship between his old boss Tip O’Neill and President Reagan, Alan Keyes had a primetime show, and they called themselves “America’s News Channel” amidst lots of flag-gy colors.

    True colors reveal themselves eventually.
    Weirdos all scream eventually, too.

  6. “Mainstream” to liberals is not a concept they can easily comprehend. The liberal leadership has, for decades, labeled thier followers as “the sheeple”. They learned long ago that “the sheeple” will take what the liberal leadership hands down to them as fact, with no need to think anything through. Mainstream then, to them, is whatever thought they are told to think.

    We all know that to try and match that concept up with what the actual definition of mainstream is would be next to impossible.

    It’s not really a shocker to find out that they can’t even fake mainstream, when you look at it in it’s realistic light.

    Is this supposed to be news, Frank? I was under the assumption everyone already knew that.

  10. Found it: “Woodstock was their finest moment, when they were in charge of a field for three days. What happened? No food, no toilets, mostly mud, vomit, and people OD’ing on drugs, and no one could get in or out because they didn’t know how to park their own cars. They busted down the fences because they didn’t want to pay for a ticket. The Army that they were supposedly protesting against had to come in to feed them and provide medical support for them, and they left mountains of trash in their wake…and that was just three days…which they still tout as their greatest success. Now, they’re in Congress…and the White House. — Son of Bob”

  11. “And there’s the thing: Who we [Americans] call liberal are anything but.”

    And the hijacking and subsequent bastardisation of the term “liberal” by the American Left is both frustrating, and leads to occasional confusion on blogs & Twitter.

    We Australian Liberals (Classical Liberals) used to use the Twitter hashtag #myliberal… we’re gradually migrating to #ozcot so as not to confuse our American #tcot brethren.

  12. Also, as long as we’re on about Woodstock, I still love John (Cliff Claven from Cheers) Ratzenberger’s remark, via Kathryn Jean Lopez:

    “This isn’t the Democratic party of our fathers and grandfathers. This is the party of Woodstock hippies. I was at Woodstock — I built the stage. And when everything fell apart, and people were fighting for peanut-butter sandwiches, it was the National Guard who came in and saved the same people who were protesting them. So when Hillary Clinton a few years ago wanted to build a Woodstock memorial, I said it should be a statue of a National Guardsman feeding a crying hippie.”

  13. Burmashave, not really. Huffington Post readers typically don’t have any of those either and sit to go number 1.

  14. I understand one of the reasons New Jersey smells so bad is the unwashed hippie-funk left over in Woodstock drifts downwind causing New Jersey to smell like a jockstrap left in a gym bag for 15 years.

    A little late but thanks a lot of digging that up. Bob you should be proud of that piece of work.

  16. The problem with liberals is that they think their views *ARE* the mainstream, anything else is outside their radar. It’s like that scene in the Blues Brothers when Ackroyd asks the bartender at that redneck bar “What kind of music do you usually have here” to which the barkeep answers “Oh, we like both kinds, country *and* western” 😉
