Do you think it depresses Romney how much the Republican base hates him and obviously wants someone else to vote for? I mean, we’ll all vote for him, but we’ve made it so obvious we really don’t want to.
Are we going to really want to elect someone like Chris Christie who keep lying about how he’s not going to run?
I don’t know her odds, but Palin replacing Obama would be HIGH-larious.
Most people don’t think Obama is going to resign, but have we tried offering him a generous severance package?
We need a Andy Rooney for the new generation who, instead of complaining about stupid stuff, likes stupid stuff ironically.
First thing new Andy Rooney could like ironically: Old Andy Rooney.
Just talked to Christie’s barber. Says last time Christie got a haircut, he asked that it be “presidential-looking.”
Andy Rooney’s replacement should be Norm MacDonald.
My book will be an ebook. That means it comes with a tab of e to help with reading enjoyment.
I’m just kidding. Kids, don’t do drugs. You’re not cool enough.
Chris Christie: “I started to fill out the form to join the presidential race, BUT THEN I ATED IT!”
So how does conservative enthusiasm for Chris Christie fit with the epistemic closure meme?

I for one will not vote for Romney. I refuse to vote for the lesser evil ever again.
If the GOP nominee is Romney, I will write in Chthulu/Dagon ticket.

If Chris Christie gets elected president, he will bring in Paula Deen as the White House chef.

Frank J., I don’t think the Republican base does really hate Romney. I wish it were so. For his part, I’m sure that Romney is thinkin’ (note how I can slip into black dialect) that Tea Party supporters just haven’t yet caught on to the virtues of his hair.

In My World (Christie as POTUS version):
First State of the Union Address. There’s a Big Gulp™ on the podium and as he talks he keeps reaching underneath for a handfull of nachos.
Best line of the speech?
“And to the ‘Loyal Opposition” that believe my policies will destroy the nation, I only have this to say…(loudly breaks wind)…catch that and paint it purple biochez!”

I will NEVER vote for Romney! Thus another vote for Obama without a counter vote against! So, GOP/RNC take note! We are trying to send you morons a message but you aren’t listening…ha…I made a funny. The GOP and the RNC listening. When they want your opinion, they will give it to you through Carl Rove, Hannity and Laura Ingram! So shut up, sit down and watch. The “Pros” who gave us John McLamenesty last time have this!
Sarah Palin better get in this race because Rick Perry is falling like Michael Moore on a Minneapolis sidewalk in January and Herman Cain Cain’t! Romney…agh…ack…ugh…ack…ACKKKK….there…big fur ball!!!

Personally I think Romney should drop out of the race. I believe that Americans and Republicans in specific deserve the leaders they get. The fact that they are so blinded by personal bigotry that they won’t even consider someone’s business acumen, especially in light of the disaster that “a uniter, an outsider, a christian?, a senator” has caused not to mention the lack of leadership by almost every member of the congress/ career politicians. By all means elect some dipstick who’ll tell you exactly what you want to hear or someone who will never “cave” (compromise) because after all everyone one in this country is exactly the same. Someone who packs his/her cabinet with people who will walk in lock step with them until we all march down to Hell together.
Please by all means elect someone who apologized to our enemies, who pits one religion against another, who gives to criminal aliens things that citizens have to pay through the nose for, who can’t articulate their positions and or has use pithy catch phrases to “energize the electorate”. While you’re at it make sure he’s a sexually deviant, misogynist, religious bigot, dogmatic tin plated dictator with delusions of relevancy. I’m sure if he’s conservative he’ll be competent at all of the things I’ve just mentioned, not because all conservatives are those things, just because conservative are usually competent at what they do. Unlike liberals who are incompetent at anything they do for supposedly unselfish reasons. It will be a change from the incompetent boob we have now but it won’t help people to be any happier, healthier or more prosperous.
I’m done with the whole enterprise. Good luck, though if prophecy is true not even luck is going to help.

I’m finished giving candidates the chance to get up to speed and show me what they have. I’ve seen it. I’ve weighed and measured them.
Herman Cain
Give him a strong legislative liaison (or, perhaps a Ryan VP) and turn him loose on DC.

Most people don’t think Obama is going to resign, but have we tried offering him a generous severance package?
Maybe fix him up with Gloria Steinem, Bernardine Dohrn, Betty Friedan, or Helen Thomas?

“First thing new Andy Rooney could like ironically: Old Andy Rooney.”
Why would we need a new Andy Rooney? We finally got rid of the last one.

Frank J. Fleming?
You’d be great in that spot.

About the only thing going for Christie is that he talks to the dems the way we wish more republicans would talk to the dems. Oh, and he can sit on them, too.

I agree, seanmahair. Survival is not required.

I don’t see how offering to sever his package would encourage him to resign.

Too late anyway DamnCat, Barry’s package has been in Michelle’s purse for a long time.

Conservatives have some deeply held ideals that are problematic in modern politics, not the least of which is that anyone who seeks to be president is by definition unqualified for the job. Chris Christie is appealing because he will not run.

If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves.
You can always count on Americans to do the right thing—after they’ve tried everything else.
It is a good thing for an uneducated man to read books of quotations.
