Who’s Your Favorite Under-Rated Blogger?

Posted on April 28, 2012 7:00 am

As I scour the internet, looking for links to keep you entertained, I’m kinda surprised how difficult it is to find decent text-based right-wing blog humor. It’s all reposts of YouTube videos now.

Even Scrappleface, whose coined the term “Axis of Weasels” back in his writing days, has climbed aboard the video train.

Surely there are still writers out there who seek to amuse, aren’t there?

My question is, who do YOU read when you want to be entertained? Not the gigantor mega-bloggers that everyone’s heard of. I mean talented, low-traffic sites still struggling for attention.

Who’s your favorite under-rated blogger? Drop a link in the comments.

And yes, you can name yourself.

And yes, even first-time visitors are invited to participate.

While Sippican Cottage is a bit video heavy latelty, the Meteor is still a wordsmith’s humor blog. It’s even funnier to people from Maine, because some of the most subtle bits are very inside jokes and Mainers love to make fun of themselves. God help anybody else that tries it though….

Not really underrated, but unfasionably favored by Beck’s minions….

I read this guy FrnakJ, he can be funny. Sometimes. He’s hit and miss. His biggest problems are his multiple personalities, some of them are funnier than others.

Another, good place is Roberta Hoyt, she does a comic called Ninja Nun. It makes me laugh.

  7. Les says:

Little OT, but I just read a great new piece by Mark Steyn linked on http://www.weaselzippers.us with some excellent points — always fun to read while imagining him speaking it. Cuisines from My Stepfather

Veeshir – that’s Robert A Hoyt, son of the writer Sarah Hoyt, who, by the way posts at http://pjmedia.com/ , http://classicalvalues.com/ , http://madgeniusclub.com/ , and http://accordingtohoyt.com/ ; all of which are text heavy.

My own blog posts aren’t political, but they’re all shameless, desperate attempts to mine laughter from text-based rants, and some of them might be in line with what ya’ll like.

One is why the Na’vi from Avatar are really horrible assholes:

and another is in defense of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, who were viciously maligned by Roger Ebert as violent and un-American:

I started blogging some right wing humor a while back at http://slapotics.wordpress.com/ but I kind of let it go.

  22. John says:

My favorite is Monster Hunter Nation, the blog of author Larry Correia. While a lot of it relates to books, when he goes off on a tear about current events it’s an instant classic.

  23. Becky says:

  24. Veeshir says:

Holy moly JC, I thought it was Roberta Hoyt, I didn’t realize it was Robert A. Hoyt.

Unless the operation was a success, I’ve been wrong all along.

I like Classical Values, I’ve been reading it for years, I haven’t read Sarah’s blogs.

After I enjoy the daily thought-and-laughter-provoking treasures at IMAO, I frequently click on Harvey’s Bad Example blog and Basil’s easy to remember Basilsblog to see if they’ve been holding out on me.
I just realized, looking at my ‘Bookmark’ list, that nearly every one of my favorite web sites is something I discovered from links provided by IMAO at one time or another, either in a post or from one of the commenters.
    Thanks.

In case you haven’t noticed, Rachel Lucas is posting regularly again. Nice mix of occasional political rants with Rachel’s keen “hickbilly” insights into Europe (after 3 years in UK she’s now in Italy for what promises to be an interesting 3 years) and her ever-popular “I’m so stupid I can’t believe they let me out without a helmet” -style anecdotes about her daily adventures. She knows how to turn a phrase, and she’s one of the funniest people I’ve read on the web.

I also wanna second jeannebodine’s recommendation for David Thompson. I’ve been reading him for a few years and he is nothing short of genius. You can spend days in his archives.
