Yeah, good luck with that. My state (OR) won’t even deny illegal’s driver’s licenses are ballots. Illegal Aliens gather in street protests and are not arrested or shot. What makes you think they’ll be denied government “benefits” after they’ve been handed an illegal ballot?

The best way to cure the illegal immigration problem:
1) Mandate that everyone must pay Social Security and Income Taxes.
2) Require all Citizenship tests to be in Written English only.
3) Require Citizenship papers on all Welfare/WIC/Food Stamps/etc.
4) Require that Social Security Benefits may only be made to those who have paid in for a minimum of 15 years as a Citizen.
5) As Non-Citizens they cannot receive “In-State” tuition rates.
Without the benefits, there is no reason for them to come here.

^ Alucard, actually Card considers himself an old-school Democrat. He says the Democratic party has gone in very strange directions. I’m not sure what decade of the Democratic Party he would align himself with.

He tends to be hawkish, but has also argued for public projects like a rail system (I don’t recall the exact context of that last one). He’s immensely frustrated with the Republican party on illegal immigration.

Very social conservative, like most Mormons are. Honestly, enjoying his books is one of the first things that convinced me that, though I disagree with them, Mormons aren’t bad people.

Definitely read Ender’s Game. There’s a bunch of other Ender books that are also really good, but Ender’s Game is just awesome. It’s got everything a gaming computer programmer conservative could want: high-tech wargames, space aliens, planet-killers, cracks on socialism. Oh, and its FTL explanations are a little more realistic and believable than, say, Star Wars or Star Trek.

I will almost guarantee you would really like Monster Hunter International (and the sequals) by Larry Correia. And add another vote for Ender’s Game (and some, *some* mind you, of the sequals).

I noticed the plot moved nowhere in Book 4 of Game of Thrones, and the reviews indicated it moved even slower in Book 5. I haven’t been able to talk myself into reading it, yet. Shame, too, because I liked the first couple, and even believed there was a slight chance it might wrap up some day.

Highly recommend Ender’s Game. I don’t even really like sci-fi very much– I watch Dr Who for the David Tennant but off of a recommendation on Ace’s blog that it was one of the classics, a sci-fi book even for ppl who may not really dig sci-fi, I picked up the audiobook. It is fantastic. A coming of age story amidst a 1984-on-crack government, plus war strategies and friendships made and lost… it’s a compelling read (or listen), and it’s not just for sci-fi lovers.

I was thinking Ender’s Game as I hadn’t read that and it’s being made into a movie.” I hope they do a better job of interpreting Ender’s Game than they did Starship Troopers. You might also consider reading ‘How to Fix Everything in America Forever’, I hear its pretty good.

The country is pretty divided. How do we end that? Some sort of war with space aliens? I heard Paul Krugman talking once about how great Keynesian economics is and we need to have more government spending (and worrying about a $16,000,000,000,000 is just silly). He said if we could manage to convince people that we're about to be invaded by aliens, then we'd all go along with his plan and it would get us out of this economic crisis. All I could think was, "Does this guy not notice that he's the bad guy from Watchmen?"

I like WWZ, but didn’t find ZSG worth it (actually got it for free by swinding these suckers called, “Library,” but decided to return it). WWZ even inspired me to buy the Studs book. Haven’t read it yet, though.

I’m not into recriminations or finger-pointing. Too busy burying ammo and bibles.

I suggest that you read pretty much anything by Vince Flynn, Brad Thor or Ted Bell. Atlas Shrugged is always a good read, too. Although 1,100 pages get pretty tedious… Already 2 of 3 movies made from it, too…

What needs to happen is 50 years of action movies where the protagonist overcomes the odds and defeats the bad guys wielding a balanced budget, etc.
