I’d be willing to bet $1 that they just have their “laptops” sitting there, open, so they look “connected” to every day people.

Another question that popped into my head while reading this post is: What kind of computers do MSNBC anchors “use” on set. (Hint: The “MS” in MSNBC stands for Microsoft, at least it used to.) Are they loyal to their corporate overlords or are they just trying to be the cool kids and “using” Macs?

What are the laptops used for other than a stage prop? A netbook running Windoze isn’t capable of looking up something on the Internet faster enough or reliable enough for live TV. Maybe they’re just dumb displays connected to the control room… or used as TelePrompTers.

CNBC showed they were phony way back when they started separate phone lines for libs and conservatives (to be “fair”) because they were getting too many phone calls from conservatives.

I don’t think they are trying to pretend to have Macs.

There are two good reasons for them cover the laptops with a matte grey skin:
1) if the laptop surface is shiny it could reflect the studio lights
2) they probably feel that grey color is more photogenic than plain black.

So I don’t think they are being disingenuous – I think they are being RACIST!!!!!1!!
