There’s 8 billion pizza places in the five boroughs and some of them are bad — law of averages. Unfortunately they’re in the tourist places.

I’m pretty sure Vassar still uses the same ol’ college motto.

And it’s not true that Rochester was destroyed. It just looks like that.

@15 – Heh. I knew some guys at Prototype who used to boil cans of Dinty Moore beef stew in a coffee percolator filled with hot water.

Speaking of Prototype, I also learned how to eat Folger’s Crystals instant coffee straight out of the jar, because it was too time-consuming to find hot water to make a cup of coffee.

Thankfully, I’ve since dropped that habit.

I dunno Harvey. When I was at Saratoga Springs, we ordered Hungry Howies. I don’t remember any Oma’s.

But then, being a bachelor in a rented house while doing prototype shift hours, it didn’t much matter what form the food we ate took. We ate it anyway. I know a few dinners consisted of a can of green beans cooked in a bowl in a microwave…because I felt I needed the nutrition.

@5 – I used to agree when I was younger, but after having eaten Oma’s Pizza in Saratoga Springs, NY (this was 1986, I don’t even know if they’re still in business), I’m no longer of that sect.

Ketchup on toast with a slice of Velveeta and hot dog chunks was better.

although Manhattan was purchased for “only” $24, in 1629 $24, adjusted for inflation that is almost $100,000 in 2012 dollars. The average person in 1629 was lucky to see $10 a year in income. Considering Manhattan is roughly 14,500 acres, that’s just over $6.50 an acre. Now, keep in mind that when Manhattan was purchased, it was essentially swampy island wilderness with harsh winters, hot summers, and no bridges or tunnels to get to and from the island. There was also not much anywhere near it like industry, airports, or ANYTHING. All things considered, the Indians got a pretty good deal. You can buy similar undeveloped, swampland in the middle of nowhere for less today.

Next time someone says the Indians got screwed, remind them that whatever New York is worth today, it’s because of the investments that were made in it. The Indians got a fair price for what they sold.

González was charged with 174 counts of murder—two for each victim—and was found guilty on 87 counts of arson and 87 counts of murder on August 19, 1991. For each count he received the sentence maximum of 25 years to life (a total of 4,350 years). It was the most substantial prison term ever imposed in the state of New York. He will be eligible for parole in March 2015 because New York law states that multiple murders occurring during one act will be served concurrently, rather than consecutively That officially makes NY the most f'ed up liberal hellhole on earth, period.

Good piece, but the pizza thing I had to chime in on. Living in NYC almost 20 years, it’s almost impossible to find bad pizza in the city, in any borough. But, I’m sure the pizza in Idaho is top notch.
