I think it was Henry Ford, who shortened the work day and nearly doubled the daily wage while being against unions, that led to a strong middle class through the jobs and influence of the auto industry. With all the work regulations and government mandates nowadays, unions seem to be mainly a revenue source for radical leftists and a tool for Democrats to control votes and remain in power.

Do not blame the engineer that designed the bridge. The highway department made design changes at the last minute and then to save money they refused to pay for the modified design to be wind tunnel tested (true story). So Obama was right after all “You didn’t build that”.
