Not to nitpick here, but there was no “Mrs. Buchanan” – President Buchanan, long known to historians as “the only president worse than that Obama guy who’s coming up later,” was also the only president never to marry. In addition, he was the only president who neither shaved nor grew a beard, and there may have been some connection between these last two facts…he also had a *very* good friend (fellow politician William King, who was later briefly Vice President) with whom he lived for many years, who was referred to as “Miss Nancy” by Andrew Jackson – it’s not clear why this was, since his middle name appears to have been “Rufus” and not “Nancy” at all.
