“I like the trillion dollar coin idea. What I’ve always said this country needs is more harebrained schemes.” If Obama can just mint a trillion dollar coin to cover his debt can I print out a few hundreds to help off-set the increase in taxes being taken from my paycheck?

I like the idea of Obama’s likeness being on the Trillion dollar coin (Not allowable right now as they don’t put living people on coins).
Because:
1. If for some fluke it turns out to be a good idea and saves the economy or something, then that credit is due him.
2. If it fails miserably then that coin is an albatross of epic proportions to hang on his legacy and to always be associated with Obama.
(I’m guessing #2 is the most likely outcome)

Yes – that’s how banana republics work – the government sets the prices of food. So bananas will be cheaper – there just won’t be any for sale because no one will want to sell them cheaper than they do now.
