I personally thinks Star Wars is a wreck anyway. The first three movies were OK, the next three movies were annoying in the extreme so not looking forward for a new edition of the "whining Skywarker family" and their scruffy friends. Especially if they trot out Harrison Ford and Mark Hammil. I may have to turn in my Nerd card but I loved the newest Star Trek, it had action, adventure, romance and comedy, everything you could ask in a movie. If Abrams could do that for Star Wars I might go see it. Maybe.

A whole fleet of star destroyers couldn't hit one converted freighter with a faulty star drive, and you think they'd be any tribble at all for the mighty Enterprise?
Blasphemy!
The Force is just bleed-over from the Q Continuum!

First, JJ is not George Lucas...so I cannot complain. That's like getting a president that is not Obama. It's a step up no matter how small a step.

Second, JJ has said he likes Star Wars more than Star Trek...so maybe that is helpful somehow. Especially if he is a real love/hate fan of Star Wars.

Third, JJ is not writing it, just directing it. Michael Arnt has been said to be writing it based on whatever tripe Lucas had already written.

Fourth, if JJ does Star Trek and Star Wars, maybe we can finally see a star destroyer completely obliterate the Enterprise, as we all know would happen.

I just hope he doesn't try to inject any of his "originality" into the films. JJ Abrams makes nice visuals and fun action, but his stories are inane and pedestrian.

Man, did you see Super 8? I can sum that film up in 10 words: "Angry monster hates humans then decides he doesn't and leaves."

Best not be doing any of that to my classics, JJ.

Look, I'm as big a red matter hater as you are likely to run into outside of Comic-Con. It was so cringe-inducing that it took me several minutes to recover any semblance of suspension of disbelief. (Actually, turning over the Enterprise to Cadet Kirk was worse, but, then, I'm a military guy, so maybe it _would_ bug me more).

That said, I enjoyed this article Steven Padnick at Tor.com:
"In Praise of Red Matter"
