Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin both wanted Civilian National Security Forces separate from the Military (to protect the people). Uncle Jo Stalin has his Secret Police and the NKVD. Hitler had the SS, the Gestapo and the Hitler Youth. So this is whats gonna happens next. In the Name of National Security Hussein Obama will exercise his "Divine Right" of unchecked Presidential power to establish a Civilian National Security Force. And he will get away with it because, like his predecessors (sse above) he gives powerful speeches that hypnotize and mesmerize the eager masses who have come to worship him as a GOD. If there is a required background check everytime you want to purchase a firearm shouldn’t there also be a required background check before ordering a drone strike?

bullibrat, I am a Veteran. I was in Iraq from Feb. 2004 through Feb. 2005 and saw Preditor drones flying about. There is a big differeance between a military use by a commander in theater using drones to gather intelligence then act on that intelligence and the president using drones as his own personal hit-bot. IF there are well defined ROE (rules of engagment) it is one thing, to say we can “take out” anyone we deem a threat is another. Like FredKey mentions above the definition of threat can start to expand to a personal enemies list. “Punish those that oppose us” can take on a whole new meaning. Just look at the lawsuit against Standard and Poor’s. Make BO look bad, as if he needs help doing that, and pay the price.

I had an interesting discussion on facebook about this last night. Surprisingly, two very conservative friends disagreed with me vehemently while a rediculously liberal friend was outraged and horrified that this sort of thing is being allowed.

One of the dissenters is a 20 yr military vet who took my whole argument to be horribly anti-military. Going so far as to say that if it prevents one potential IED attack, they are fine in his book. (He’s a former submariner, so it’s not that he’s seen and IED attack firsthand or anything so no personal experience enters into this)

Any thoughts on this here from military or veterans?

Uncharacteristically, even the New York Times (yes, the New York Times; 2/5/13) is pushing back against Obama’s drone strike policy:

“The first strike in Yemen ordered by the Obama administration, in December 2009, was by all accounts a disaster. American cruise missiles carrying cluster munitions killed dozens of civilians, including many women and children. Another strike, six months later, killed a popular deputy governor, inciting angry demonstrations and an attack that shut down a critical oil pipeline.

“In some cases, drones have killed members of Al Qaeda when it seemed that they might easily have been arrested or captured, according to a number of Yemeni officials and tribal figures. . . . ”

“For sure, we could be going after some of these guys,” the officer said. “That’s what we’re trained to do, and the Americans trained us. It doesn’t make sense.”

The way they see it, they wont have to worry about ever losing office so long as they can just steal the friggin election, count up a few hundred thousand votes in an inner city and BAM! we won this state no matter how red it is in reality.

There’s a difference between election fraud and voter fraud – yeah we may not have much voter fraud, but election fraud is what got obama reelected, not any of this “oh enough people didnt come out to hate him” crap.
