^Dodsfall, that’s exactly what I was thinking. Boehner isn’t much of a bar to clear. Honestly, I can’t think of a good politician for that position.

Here’s the problem, in my view: One in public office, in order to remain true to conservative principles, an elected official must turn away power at every opportunity. As any conservative will tell you, this runs directly contrary to human nature. Thus, while it’s easy to elect as liberal a statist loon as you want, putting a true conservative in office (and keeping them so while in office) is very, very difficult.
