   I keep asking the spouse to put a turret on the house with a revolving gun mount but he says it’s too expensive. Of course now it’d just be a target for drones so I guess he was right after all. Smart guy.

   I met a guy in South Carolina who has a recognised collection of WWII memorabilia. He displays it at historical venues across the South. Vets who are dying – or their children – regularly contact him with new pieces for the collection. One day he showed me a flamethrower, a crate of Bangalore torepdoes and three Panzerfausts.

   “Where do you get this stuff?” I asked incredulously.

   “You would be surprised at what people have in their basements,” he replied.
