    That might explain why it’s so far over budget.

    @1–that and the fact that it’s actually three airplanes or at least three distinct versions of the same aircraft: land based for the Air Force, carrier for the Navy, and Short / Vertical Take-off for the Marines. We sort of did that in the ’60s with the F-4 Phantom for the Air Force and the Navy, it would nice if we could do it again with the F-35, if all the numbers can be made to work.

    (Funny article, BTW.)
